1. What is the ratio of generator damage to dashing strike damage? If most of your damage is coming from DS, I guess it's not worth using depth diggers + simplicity's strength. Cindercoat would be better in that case. Or is it better to wear all 6 pieces so you can wear Bastions of Will?
2. What's the best generator?
3. 2H or dual wield? I have an ancient fulminator, ancient odyn's son, ancient WKL that could all be around 3k dps if I enchanted. My good 2H weapons are a normal 3700 dps Flying dragon, and an ancient 4100 dps Wrath of the Bone King.
All I have to say, is I seriously wish I could take the ancient flying dragon I found and left to collect dust with me into season 3. Le Sigh.
And I have to say, I have a good ancient furnace and a normal incense torch, albeit very well rolled with +9% elite damage on it. I vastly prefer the incense torch over the furnace. I didn't spend as much time playing Season 2, so no unities/can't die token and I'm not very super high on the grift tier but even so, you pretty much skip the elites and kill trash for the most part anyway unless you have a death wish or get lucky with a nice fat pack of whites to EP in the face of the elites. Not a furnace fan.

I think cindercoat will be a must. More DS means more damage with use of less spirit. Group play with rainment chest could open up combo possibilites, but i doubt it will be anything other than a filler until people get cindercoat.
Way of a hundred fists imo is best.
2H weapons will still be better than 1H for this build.
For T6, Cindercoat, spec so you can maintain spirit since your burst is enough to kill anything.
For greater rifts, your burst wont kill them, and you wont survive so the spec is completely different. All the high clears involve the following: Flying Dragon, 6 piece Rainment, focus+restraint, spirit guard bracers.
Tested it on ptr - GR 48 was like Torment 6 even with only 4 ancient items + perfect ancient Flying Dragon. I'm still thinking about changing Life per spirit into 7%as on my FD.
With good pylon at the end (resource cost reduction = 0) you can dash guardian crazy fast - so higher attack speed = better.
I see you picked parthan defenders, how are you activating it with no stun moves? Also wanted to know if maybe it works with freeze effects? ie: Fist of Thunder - Windblast Rune
I'm having really good results so far with this - Inna's as weapon, head, belt. Rainment as boot, chest, shoulder, glove, pant. I have a 4.1k inna diabo so.. yeah.
For skills I'm using DS, EP, BoH, Epiphany, Mystic Ally, Fists of Thunder.
The double effect of all the mantras is kinda huge.
The playstyle is easy - palm, ds spirt empty, bol, punch a few times. Wash rinse repeat with epiphany/mystic ally active to speed up the mana regen. The thing I've realized that needs to be mastered is not running out of spirit and killing the DS charges. That leaves you with your pants down for 8 seconds, probably with no spirit, and probably soon to be dead.

1. Most of the DMG is from your DS, so Depth diggers would not be worth it. Nor the gem.
2. Seeing as its main purpose is to give you spirit so you can Dash I would go for FoT - Quickening Comboed with BoH - Infused with light

I think this will be the winning combo regarding gear, but I don't think I'll be using EP at all. I love the spirit rune from it, but I think I'll use a defensive ability in its place. Punch stuff, be mindful of your DS charges, and stuff dies soon after. I'm still tossing up the ideas of using an Inna's daibo to get the 4pc bonus with a RoRG, or a FD/Furnace with F+R.
I loved my Sunwuko set, but the new Rainment's is some of the most fun I've ever had in a Diablo game.

The animation of DS is crazy fast, so the slower the weapon (and thus higher damage range) the better.
so furnace would be bis?
