Hey guys, today I want to go over the improved Raiment of a Thousand Storms set coming in 2.2 for the Monk. Based on initial testing and some feedback I've seen from others, this is not only the fastest T6 speed farm set in the entire game, but is also likely to overtake Sunwuko in greater rifts. I explain the set bonuses and showcase the 'Raekors on roids' - it's so fast that your clearing speed bottleneck will be environment collision. It's absolutely insane how fast this set moves. Enjoy & discuss!
Monks teleport faster and in a more reliable way than the wizard... cast time of wizards teleport is just bad and embarassing compared to dashing strike lol.

Yup, and the travel distance + actually teleport (unlike Furious Charge) + faster cast animation is silly. Looks like this may be the new Monk set in 2.2.
Well... Befaore claiming anything I would wait for:
1) SWK 6P, Rainment rock? Why not SWK then?
2) the end of the PTR. Nerf hammer is still around, until it's a release... Even then
Still, it's pleasant to see diversity
1) Is there a source saying SWK is getting 6 piece in 2.2? If so, it's T-2 weeks.
2) While it may get nerfed, I don't see it changing mechanically - maybe just some number tweaks (although it was already tweaked - higher spirit cost, higher DS damage).
I have a question. Does dashing strike with this set bonus proc new Bastion of Will set?
Bastions of Will (2) Set Bonus Has been redesigned After casting a resource-generating attack or primary skill, gain 50% increased damage for 5 seconds After casting Your first hit with each cast of a resource-spending attack, gain grants 50% increased damage for 5 seconds
Idk am i the only one but i really dislike this kind of mehanic. Same as the barbarians charge set there just isn't enough gameplay going on just apply buff and hold down one button...ok this may not be the gr build but still it will make me move from monk to some other class.
I was a wizard player from when d3 came out and with the newest firebirds set i just gave up on it bcs it's so silly to run in circle and cast blizzard .. Same thing happening with the monk 1 button afk play.
Every good build is "spam one button," SWK, Marauder, Raikors, Carnival, Ponysader, condemn, ect. That's how this game and several over RPGs/MMOs work.
Yup, Monk will be fast again for sure. As for '1 skill builds' being the best, well that's sort of the case but is changing to an extent.
Unfortunately with 1000 Storms the 2 piece bonus is useless right now since all you have to do is cast the primary once every 6 seconds. Wiz is getting a bit more diverse in terms of using multiple skills - Tal set requires all elements for maximum potential and Slow Time set requires at least 2 skills. There are Monk builds that will still be strong requiring multiple skills (at least bells/EP), so we're getting there. I don't think more than 2 skills rotated frequently is healthy for the game though.
Have you tested out the physical rune on DS? I know the resource cost would be higher but the single target might be good for Guardians.
I have not yet, but I'm thinking anything besides fire will require either RCR in every slot, a ton of CDR for maximum Epiphany uptime, OR a lot more rotation between spender/generator. I also believe Barrage doesn't stack AND doesn't benefit from the extra set bonus ... 12500% vs. 975% is very insignificant.
I've personally tried a couple different variations of builds, namely fire and cold, and don't really like either of them. Sheer movement speed is much faster than Raekors, but survivability is a joke in comparison when the enemies don't get CC'd at all from your dashing strike.
I don't have the most amazing gear in the world, but I've been unable to get past GR 46 with this build, and that's what I've achieved with SWK/EP on Season. Think I'm gonna make a demon hunter in season 3 at this rate.
Cold DS, gives some decent survivability doesn't it? From the 40% dodge bonus?
With around 1800 all resist, cold DS, running the dodge all-resist mantra, level 40 Esoteric and 47 Wildebeest, and Sixth-Sense, there were times that I struggled greatly in terms of survivability in GR46.

I assume this also includes double unity + desert shroud/serenity?

I think Barrage not benefiting from 6p might be a bug. The dot from pillar of ancients benefits from SWK, why wouldn't the dot from barrage do the same with raiment.
Blizz should change the lightning rune for dashing strike, now that the raiment set makes it use spirit instead of charges the extra charge is basically useless.

I think it may be confusing wording.
SWK 'increases skill damage BY 500%', Raiment 'increases skills damage TO 12500%'. The difference is the latter increases the base skill damage whereas SWK gives you a 6x multiplier.

It's already overtaken SWK on the ptr leaderboards. I like it, pretty fun way to play.

Right up until it gets the IK treatment.

Is Dashing Strike Damage (n shoulders / chest) worth?
How does it work with the 12500% damage increase from set?
