It depends on what you want. If you are ok with a passive style, go for Manticore. Personally, I don't like that kind of playstyle, so I am using a Kridershot even though I had a better bow.
Krider is a nice farm bow. and it'll work until you can get a Buriza or the Etrayu with a gift to have 4 primary stats and a socket.
Hey i got buriza with gift on my DH, i like this xbow but is it really anything extraordinary for sentry build? I mean is the passive so useful? Thx for answer
If you're a cold build* Buriza is nice due to the cold damage on the weapon and xbows are harder hitting than bows. example above, His manticore can hit for a max of 2600 plus the damage from poison added (i believe). but it's slower. However, weapon damage is what you sentries are based on. Bow you can hit the 2.84 break point (with TnT) on sentries, but with xbows you can only hit the 2.16 (with TnT) attacks with sentries, again, xbows hit harder.
Etrayu gets +15-20% cold skill damage as well as weapon damage. It's good for cold builds.
Duh. Somehow never noticed that affix
Thank you all for your advice, I'll stick with the Manticore for now (though I'll probably reroll the resource reduction on the krider just to see how the gameplay feels).
That's what i've been told for months from other people, so still i have no idea why would Buriza be better than any other xbow?
Personally i believe that the only BIS xbow is the pre 2.1 Manticore with 1450+ dmg 10% dmg 33% crit chance 700+ dex and socket from Gift.
I think any high dps xbow would be fine. Unless you're playing with Devouring Arrow, I dont see Buriza having any specific advantage, since sentries have 0% chance to proc the freeze.
I'm still curious about the Buriza/Depth Diggers combination with DA, though. Gonna try that this evening.
Honestly, somehow I assumed the Buriza effect, affected sentries. However, it looks like the Etrayu is best unless you can hit the 2.84 breakpoint with xbows.
Hey, got a new question. I've got these 2 weapons, both of them unmodified. I'm thinking of using a gift on the windforce once I (finally) get a Tasker, since it has the potential to be 2.9k dps, but the Wohjanni Assaulter is also a very good roll, and one that'd keep some toughness. What do you think?
Damn, back to farming it is, then ... I might still try the WF if I get a TnT to see how the 2.84 BP plays out.
Also, I've tried out the Buriza with Depth Diggers running Devouring Arrow+MS+CA. I enjoy the more active gameplay and DA does very good single-target damage (upwards of 15M for later pierces with a 2.4k dps xbow), but I can't keep the mobs slowed enough, and with my gear, it's not viable past GR 28, too much standing around (for the record, I haven't beaten GR33 yet, so YMMV).
Well, after rerolling to +%dps, my windforce is around 2875 dps, whereas my manticore is slightly below 2600. Of course, the damage range on the xbow is more interesting, and the %ias on the windforce means little if I can't reach a breakpoint.
At this stage, w/o TNT, I can only hit the 1.46 BP with a xbow, and I can only reach 2.03 with a bow, too low for the next BP.
the weapon choice totally depends on if you will give in to laziness and just let the sentries do all the work, or if you still want to feel like you are doing something (sadly still sentries do all the work).
You can not get elemental bonus from rings or amulet because ideally you will sacrifice those for a legendary gem socket. So you are left with bracer, Etrayu bow, and (if you can manage without the bombardier's rucksack) the quiver with elemental bonus as options.
"xbows hit harder " is history, because bow's weapon speed will help you maintain higher sentry BP which you will need for running with 3 spenders, without having to prioritize AS on gear as much as you would have to on xbow.
Please remember, in the new endgame (greater rifts) your worst enemy is time

My gear is far from ideal
In particular, since I don't have TnT yet (after Diablo only knows how many thousands of shards), I can't reach high BPs, not even with a bow. Right now, I get to choose between 1.46 BP with a xbow and 1.74 with a bow, which means I'd only gain 12 EA/30 secs with the bow, probably not worth it.
Blizther, please see this post on the official forums to see the breakpoints and how they impact the number of attacks your sentries do. Incidentally, there is currently no 1.84 BP, it's either 1.74 or 2.84.
Also, as I said, I don't have a Tasker yet, and my Krider is 2.2k dps. Obviously, I'd like to have a perfect Krider or Etrayu, but I've never had a decent roll for either of those, so saying I should get one doesn't really help me make the best of what I do have.
Lastly, I haven't played all that much since 2.1 came out, and I already got 2 gifts. Of course, RNG is RNG, but I seem to have an easier time finding gifts than good weapons, so I'm not gonna let it rot in my stash too long
The bow isn't enchanted yet, so I could reroll either the socket or the resource reduction to damage, or just the damage range itself.

It might be worth a shot replacing EA with DA and Depth Diggers, though. Still hoping I get a better weapon on which to use the gift
Also, what makes the Etrayu so interesting?
