I just found an Ancient Buriza and am currently using an Ancient Etrayu. I am Cold for both weapons. If anyone could give me insight to which is better, I've been hearing arguments for both.
@Orangeshield : The Etrayu should come out on top based on those 2 in the screenshot. The 5% attack speed on the Buriza is not as useful as the %cold from the Etrayu.
You will end up with lower base damage but with a higher elemental damage and faster attack speed.
I have no idea how well the pierce works on the Buriza though, doesn't work on rockets/grenades/cluster arrow/evasive fire so I find it does nothing.
@timoseewho : 2h Xbow has the highest base damage on the weapon out of all the bows and xbows.
eg the Calamity above : 1473~2390 Damage
Buriza (Yours) : 2493~3049 Damage
Using the same skill (CA) the Calamity can never get a crit as high as the Buriza (not factoring in MfD) as the damage is not even as high as the Buriza's lowest damage. The 1h's and bows gives you more attack speed to make up for the damage loss per shot.

thank you, i really appreciate the response as this thread seems to be 90% questions 10% answers lol
So I'm running something similar to Wujido's physical build. I just dropped an SoJ with 20% Physical and 26% against elites but no crit hit or damage and I had to roll a socket into so no chance of getting either. It's replacing a Wailing Host with 6 crit chance and 40 crit damage. I drop from 1.369 mil to 1.185 mil sheet damage equipping the SoJ yet I feel like I'm doing better in grifts and got my highest grift so far wearing the SoJ. Should I stick with the SoJ? I'm not sure about the math when it comes to the percent damage increases vs sheet DPS.

Definitely stick with the SoJ. Sheet DPS for DH is quite useless. The 20% Physical + 26% against elites will give definitely do more damage over time especially killing elites faster which gives you alot more progress than white mobs.
Hello, I was just wondering which would be better to use? I keep hearing things back and forth about how X-bows are always better or if you have a good Calamity, to use that. I am confused at which is better. I JUST now found that Calamity and it's why I was doing research on it. I cannot find a solid answer though and figured you guys might help me out by looking at both.
Hello folks, pretty new to DH this season. I'm playing hardcore. I'm looking for general tips and what I should be looking for to improve my character.
To give some clarification to the 2H Crossbow vs Bow vs 1H Crossbow questions, based on my understanding gathered from various sources, here are a few things to consider:
1. Arcane Barb is very popular because you can craft as many as you need to get a very good ancient roll on it. This is why people consider it a very solid choice.
I have seen people state that it's BiS, which is simply not true as it adds no bonus of flavor over any other weapon, so the stats on it and possibility to get them is what makes it a choice.
For example a Pus Spitter with the same rolls as an Arcane Barb will be superior as the blobs will add some DPS themselves.
2. DPS is a good way to compare weapons only if you use builds that benefit from attack speed. Unfortunately because of the CA builds being hatred starved, it means that even if you can shoot faster, you will not have resources to cast more CAs.
Sure you will also generate it faster with your generator skill of choice, but people did the match and harder hitting CAs turn out on op.
Also sentries don't really benefit that much from attack speed, especially compared to the previous version of the M6 bonus, this this is why TnT is not a good choice anymore.
Attack speed is of course an overall DPS gain but when you compare what you're sacrificing for it, you get better choices (like RCR for solo play or Area Damage for group play).
3. Calamity, Etrayu and Krider Shot, ancient ones, with good rolls, are alternatives because they provide extra benefits that translate to "hidden" DPS.
I can't get past GR40. The gear I have, from what I can tell, should be sufficient to do well past that, so I'm curious if there is something worth changing in terms of gear. I have both a non-ancient Etrayu (19% ele, 660 Dex, 2500 wpn dmg) as well as a Kridershot (2400 wpn dmg, 10% dmg, 740 dex, 4 Hatred on hit, socket) and every time I try the traditional cold build I seem to lose a huge amount of damage overall. I have the same problem with Etrayu as well.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. I also have a pair of Hexing Pants (25% / 20% reduc) that are ancient as well.
Hey guys, a friend of mine just found an ancient marauder chest: 552 dex/ 620 vit/ 15% companion dmg. Should he roll companion -> sentry or try to get 650 dex on it?
Thnx for clearing that out for me! May I ask on advice on what to reroll for? Socket to 10% Dmg & Gift it? Iff your not sure I understand just thought I would ask, Thnx again !
ya, that seems like the most logical way to go, especially since it rolled pretty decent base damage, best of luck!
Hey guys, I'm hoping you wouldn't mind helping me out with an amulet comparison. I have an ancient Hellfire Amulet and a normal Ouroboros, and I can't figure out which one is statistically better. I will of course be re-rolling the ChD on the Ouroboros to Physical %, so it's basically 860 Dex, 115 AR, 17% AD and the passive (one of the required ones), versus 20% Physical, 10% ChC and 8% RCR. I'm guessing the Ouroboros wins xD. Thanks!
I'm not an expert D3 player and I'm stuck with my current season 2 demon hunter build. I know some of the gear is not optimal (waiting to find better stuff), but I just wanted someone to take a look at the build/skills setup to make sure I haven't gone horribly wrong somewhere (except some questionable rerolls that I need to work out )
FailguardOne: Polar station to spitfire, you should be slowing things with your cold attacks, yes? Then change cull the weak for singled out. When you have singled out you can change some of your crit chance to crit damage. It makes a huge difference on rift bosses and on trash that is spread out.
Also, your resource cost reduction is abysmally low. You can improve that and it will make a huge impact. I cleared 46 yesterday and my stats are not as good as yours. I also had my red gem in my helmet during my 46 clear with tethrys as the rift guardian. I run a slow weapon cluster shot build, though. Spitfire turrets and no cold attacks, except for the generator but I hardly use it.
Use an undying Enchantress with the Ess of johan and a thunderfury with unity and make sure all 3 of her jewelry items has max cool down reduction rolls. Run the charm spell, the blind, the confuse and the hex.
When you drop turrets I know you think to max range them because of the gem, but make sure they are in auto attack range of the RG the whole time. The extra damage from the Ballistics missles and the auto attacks accross 5 turrets is huge. Makes up for the minor loss, if any loss (I don't know if the auto attack range of turrets is more than 20 yards or not), you might get from them being closer.
Your critical hit damage is very low compared to your crit chance. This will get worse when/if you use singled out. And you will be even worse off when you run with a crusader.
Also, I don't know that 20% more frost damage is as much of a damage increase as a 1.1 attack speed bow. With your resource cost reduction being so bad I would say you can run a 1.1 attack speed bow and increase your damage output by like 10%. Ignore the change to stat sheet dps, just make sure the weapon damage and the +damage on the 1.1 bow is higher than that of the etreyu by more than like 16% and you will do more damage.
Seeing that you get to 45 with this set up I may have to put together a better frost set.
I've read around the forums a bit but just can't get a clear answer anwhere; I usually play in random groups or sometimes (very rarely) solo, and as I am still building my equip I'm wondering what build I should go for as I probably won't have enough time anytime soon to build 2 different sets for different builds.
As mentioned, I usually play in random groups - is the standard-fire build any good for playing random or should I go for a phys/cold build? I'm a bit lost since I didn't play for quite some time.
I need help rerolling a hellfire neck. It came with Dex, Vit, CHC and a socket. I need to reroll off the Vit, but I'm not sure if I should go 20% cold damage or try 100% CHD. Which would be the best?
hm, why are 2h preferred over much higher dps 1h? and what makes Arcane Barbs so good?

Armory Profile :
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Alckor-1796/hero/58739637
My PB using this gear is GR 40 in 10 minutes, I feel like I could do better.
I'm currently leveling Taeguk to replace Bane of the Powerful.
Also a few questions regarding my rerolls
I have rolled sentry dmg on shoulders, is it better to have CDR there?
Quiver has Cluster Arrow dmg, but no RCR, should I get RCR there?
A few questions regarding my gear :
I have 2 cold soj, one with 40% CHD, one with 5.5 CC. I'm guessing that I'm better using the 40% CHD one as I have no CHD on amulet?
I have ancient marauder pants, however I cannot get all res there because well, they rolled with a secondary resist,
I also have non-ancient pants with pretty good rolls (480+ dex/vit) and 99 all res. Should I be using these instead?
And last question, what would you be spending bloodshards on at this point on my character?
Thank you!

is Ballistics bad for any build not using Multishot? or is the Sentry damage increase really worth for other builds?
