So, I have a 100 paragon wizard which got boring after not gaining any exp. So I started a DH. Really enjoy using rapid fire, particularly the High Velocity rune (pierce) alongside Spike Trap - Echoing Blast. I use crow for extra hatred per second and Vengeance passive.
I'm kinda new to the DH thing so I don't really know the intricacies of things.
(1) Is Rapid Fire infinitely spammable if you have enough hatred regen?
(2) Does attack speed factor into this?
(3) Are there breakpoints?
(4) If attack speed factors in, is too much attack speed BAD?
I really like using Gloom and then just spamming rapid fire. If you never get interrupted even when Gloom wears off you seem invincible... so I want to get into a situation where I don't run out of hatred once I get going. Is this achievable?
I also want to change to Witching Hour and Lacunis, but I'm worried the attack speed will hurt more than help.
Thanks for the helpful information guys. That formula really helps, never occurred to me to just multiply attacks per second by the 6 hatred cost of the skill.
I tried switching to Night Stalker and the Punishment rune for Preperation (instant max hatred for disc) and that works very well. With my build I feel obligated to have spike traps for large groups because although rapid fire is awesome single target with the High Velocity rune, it takes too long in large mobs. So, I like to throw down a couple Spike Traps at my feet with the Bait the Trap rune for Caltrops (+10% crit) and that seems to work great it just consumes a lot of hatred, so I want to make sure I have enough to channel rapid fire for a good duration.
Yeah Bombardment for farming, Fire support + ballisics for ubers is the way to go. I've kept my attack speed low (1.63) and use punishment and its barely enough even with Nat's 4 piece against certain elites packs. Anything that stops your channeling will eat through your hatred fast (knockback, frozen, fear, etc) so dont go by just if you can channel for a decent amount of time. Lingering fog is useful against these affixes as it allows you to keep channeling if you time it right to the avoid the hit.
