I'm just wondering, how do you deal with mobs that have "Reflect Damage"?
I have about 28k health (probably not enough for Inferno), but when I come across mobs with Reflect Damage, I can hit them a few times, but then I just have to run away and not attack because I usually end up killing myself.
i use ss and traps. and then pop prep to continue. i do this in a1-3 too. burns them down fairly quickly as compared to ss'ing and using hungering or BL. when i get down to 1 mob, or kill adds i usually switch to using hungering because i do have enough life steal + life regen to handle 1 reflect happening when not on ss. im a glass cannon build with just over 12k hp. about 94kdps with sharpshooter. and this is done with mf gear on.
get a backup neck or ring with life on hit and problem is pretty much solved
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I have 1.4k life on hit.
It seems to have some kind of internal cooldown as fireing a lighting orb into a group of mobs with reflect damage will damage me for every mob it hits, but it will not heal me for every mob it hits.
Life on hit, good timing of SS with high dps abilities, potions, and use of my templar (I always have him out anyway, for the high MF I have him equipped with) all play a part. While SP with gloom would be wonderful, it's just not worth it to keep this ability loaded only for reflect packs IMO.
See some good advices here already. Here's a rather crazy one. I have around 15000 health orb pickup. What I do is quickly dps down some of the minions, SS to pick up the orbs, instant heal, then continue fighting. Its actually rather stable, and has good synergies will vengeance rune.

Not crazy, at all. This is what I do and don't understand why more people don't use this. Unless you're a glass canon using sharpshooter and have a huge DPS burst, this is easy and doesn't require many resources.
I normally spam attack until I'm down to around 30-50%, pop a potion, spam again until I'm down, smokescreen and run through the mobs to pick up the globes that they dropped.
SP/Gloom certainly works well. The only issue that I have is that it takes a skill slot from something else. If my method works and frees up a slot for something else, then that's what I'm doing.
I am a glass cannon as well. If I die with my lowly 13k health, its because I went ballz to the wall and didn't realize the mob set was a reflect set. I suggest exactly what faithful does, but backwards lol. CA w/ CB rune 2x's. Right before they land or hit the mob, you SS. Run back, pop a couple shots, potion if you have to, repeat. I get into trouble sometimes as well because HA will crit and one shot me when I'm trying to build hatred back. I rarely die to these mob sets though, so I am speaking from experience and know this works. I farm Act 4 with my eyes closed....
Anykind of tanking method I think is lazy. I'm not trying to troll, but I feel that a ranged class should stay relatively ranged. I give props to those that have the money to reinvest in all that gear, but if you follow just a couple simple steps, you can gear out for under a couple mil like I did, have 75k/168k dps, and melt mobs like buttah. All it takes is a little timing, understanding enemy animations, and use of your God given reflexes. Just depends how lazy you are.
Hmm... I'd rather get enough resistance to take a few hits at least. You don't need a tank build to do that. You play the same as usual, but you can afford to make some mistakes!
You can call me lazy if you want, but I'd rather be relaxing a bit while I'm farming.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I couldn't afford that cool DPS + surv gear. But once I started farming AH for constant profit and started buying some nice gear, I realized how much of the game I was missing.
The best thing about NOT being GC is that you have so much more options in literally every situation. You can use skills you'd never even consider using as GC. Some GC's problems simply stop being relevant as you get some survivability. You can even tank sometimes and you can easily be an off-tank in co-op play, which are completely different types of gameplay.
I really enjoy diversity that survivability brings to DH's gameplay and strongly advise everyone to at least try playing balance DH. I bet you'll like it as well.
Worst is teleporting Phasebeast with shielding and RD.
I find getting LOH on weapon, and some LOH in amulet/ring to be the most effective (about 1600 total). It helps if you have decent regen too (I'm at 500 regen). Especially if these pieces have vitality. I am about 25-30k HP for RD packs with about 45k DPS (omitting crit dmg on my weapon so I don't blow myself up). It takes a bit longer but I generally don't have any problems with RD packs, with a tank, I can just spam my hungering arrow. Cluster Arrow can still hurt me, but I usually SS when they land.
I rely on heavy nuking to the Phasebeast off screen. With shielding, I can only deal half the damage to them since they are invuln temporarily, and with shielding, I do even less damage so I don't kill myself. So what would take 15 seconds to dispatch now takes 1-2mins of kiting. That's not assuming they catch up and start being too smart and teleporting all over the place.
I just have two 900 dps 1handers with +900 life on hit each and switch them if I see a reflect damage mob, my damage drops to about 45k and with that the ~2k life on hit is enough to almost completely negate my dps and I can just nuke normally.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

SP/Gloom is amazing. Give it a try.

SS, Cluster Arrow, 1 Shot. Repeat. or SS, 2 Shots. Repeat
Fast 1H weps I use
