Hey guys, i've been messing around with different builds lately and i got absolutely hooked on this one! I've had lotsof success with it so I had to share! Check it out.
In the vid I just go over the skills, items and gameplay for the build.
Feedback would be awesome,
Cheers!:)
That's because you're in act 1. When you're in act 3 and 4 facing succubi or spearmen with nearly any affix, you're going to find yourself raging a little because they won't stand still and let you life leech with caltrops/cloud. Then their affixes and ranged hits can sometimes randomly gib you. Especially with such low resists. With a build like this, any damage around 20k is sufficient for melee packs in act 3/4 to die without enraging, but you need to be able to survive hits from said elites. Also, with enough defensive stats from gear you don't really need SP/Gloom and can replace it with Cluster or some other big hatred spender to help you burn down mobs because as of right now in that build hatred is essentially a useless resource. You have one hatred spender that is used every two minutes and even then it's an insignificant amount.
I think right now my DH has 23k dps, about 48k~ hp and 600~ resist with 1400 LoH using a build similar to this (cluster/dazzling in place of SP/Gloom and night stalker instead of cull) and I can basically be half asleep clearing act 1 and 2. I'm considering dropping the dazzling rune in favor or a more damage oriented one because in the early acts nothing hits hard enough to warrant the CC anyway. Might try Impale too just for giggles. Cull is definitely a great option for this build (unless you find yourself disc starved like I would against act 3 and 4 ranged packs and Diablo phase 3). Especially if you end up using scoundrel with a cold bow. Even your ranged grenades would be doing more, so that's nice.
Even though you're wearing a Helm of Command with 8% chance to block, without a shield your block amount is 0-0... I don't think it's absorbing any damage when it procs.
Also, with enough defensive stats from gear you don't really need SP/Gloom
I believe this topic is about tank DH. And you absolutely need SP+Gloom for face-tanking regardless of your gear based defenses, assuming you run anything past A2.
Also when you consider Athene can get 400k + dps on his DH
Let's not bring Athene to this thread, ok? Not everyone in this game can afford such gear, so the fact that he can reach some DPS level means nothing to an ordinary player.
Is nat's 4p bonus actually mandatory for tanking? In my tank gear I'm sitting at around 750-800 all resists, 30k HP, 4.5k armor (I use scoundrel instead of enchantress), 45% crit, 33k DPS with a shield. I can't face-tank packs with certain affixes (shielding, invulnerable, fear, etc) in A3 (didn't try A4, oppressors should be a lot of fun :)) because they don't let me DPS them constantly, but I don't see how the nat's 4p will help with that.
Without a load of resistances, nats 4set, enough disc, crit, life on hit and a proper shield, Act 3 and 4 will laugh at you.
I have 620+ resists, 2800 armor (low), 59k hp, 74k dmg(no SS and a shit bow), 30% crit, 49 disc and 150 loh. I destroy everything but shielding fast demonic tremors. 0 Pieces of nats.

No, you don't need nats 4pc. But more dps and disc will help.
Theres tons of tank dh facerolling act3 w/ similar builds. They do have a harder time against range mobs, but doesnt mean the build isnt viable. People need to realize theres more than 1 way to play a class and be successful
confirmed that this is a viable build.... it'll take 20~25 minutes to kill diablo though.
it sucks when you have some affixes (ie. arcane waller) but it's definitely a viable alternative for those who don't want to play glass cannon anymore.
my stats: 40K HP
500 AR
10.1K DPS
1400 LOH
27% Block
Farming A3 breached keep everyday, no problems at all.
Hardest Affix was Range Archer with Jailer, Waller, Immune and Arcane. Managed to take them out with some kiting
I've been using this build/gear set and I find that it only works well for act1 and act2, in act 2 there are a few problems like hitting enrage timer on Belial. I tried using this build in act 3 and it barely works; however it does work wonders on boss' such as Ghom and Seigebreaker and in act 4 it works on Izkatu. Before I fight Izkatu I get rid of shadow power in favor of vault because standing too long in the fire ring will kill you. This build does not work for Rakonnoth because he'll just charge rape you regardless.
Well thats my 2 cents.

What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger.

Although i found your build unique and interesting, and i do think it could be useful for certain situations, maybe iskatu fight ?
But for general gameplay, a DH would definitely want to aim for Athene's sort of dps build simply because lets respecing needed if at all.
