I'm suprised I havent seen any topics about this, but did anyone else notice that with the new patch Shadow Power no longer increases attack speed, but now converts damage dealt to life?
it keeps the high price of 2/3 your discipline cost @ 20, but the duration has been cut to only 3 seconds? sure this can be used in hell/inferno end game as an 'oh shit' button to keep you alive, but honestly, this seriously disapoints me. shadow power was, even at the 30% weapon speed, one of my favorite demon hunter abilities. i love fast, quick shots (why ill be using 2 hand crossbows) and now theyve taken that away from us. i used to see this ability as a cooldown without a cooldown just because it was so cool and added that extra kick for the demon hunter. now it just seems like a monks mantra ability, sitting on your hotbar and only being used in a special time of need, which you will almost never need in normal and nightmare.
dont know about anyone else but i think ill probably pass on this ability until inferno, and even then i might pass on it depending on how it plays out. 20 discipline for 3 seconds of life leech just isnt as cool as increased attack speed in my opinion

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
To expand on Ahitakas comment for Rapid Fire+Shadow Power as a combo I had already made a build based on the Shadow Power change specfically for staying power in later difficulties.
I chose this build specifically to have a good 'up time' on Shadow Power with its Hatred Generation Rune paying for Rapid Fire and giving me a bit more to play with for Multi-Shots that in turn, Pay for a fraction of the Shadow Powers cost. This is all saying that its even needed later on in terms of Hatered/Disipline starvation.
I went quite far into the Discipline regeneration type abilites because I still wanted the choice to use Shadow Power or Vault, I haven't decided if its a better idea to rune Vault to not use Discipline and have a CD or give me a bit of extra damage, I keep thinking of that moment that I Vault and wish I could Vault again because I just Vaulted somewhere that was still unhappy with me.
Sure, it may not have much use in the normal difficulties but until then you can just play around with Preperation runed to give you 125 Hatred and go balls to the wall on some demons.
