I wasn't really interested in using the DH until I`ve come across a few ``Melee`` builds and ever since I fell in love! I think a melee DH will be more expensive then most chars so it will be my second character in the game so that I can get elite gear to keep me alive!
My build is more close range then melee because I will not be using my normal attack at all. But I will be using a melee weapon (sword or axe or whatever and a shield) Every melee DH will need a shield to survive! So here is my build and I`ll explain: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#hZgjdk!fhc!YYZZZa
Passives:
1. Cull the Weak (I`ll mostly be spamming FoK so this will work wonders)
2. Numbing Traps (helping my DH stay alive while spamming FoK and my many Spike traps)
3. Sharpshooter (I think this is one of my favourite passives in the game so I must use it)
Actives:
1.Spike Trap(Indigo) I think this is going to be the highest hatred generator in game. Plus, it goes with Numbing Traps to weaken enemies.
2.Impale(Indigo) Once I vault through the person I will try to stun them so they stay in my DPS Vault and Tether longer.
3.Fan of Knives(Crimson) Most dmg available to a DH. Enough said!
4.Sentry(Crimson) I`ll be vaulting a lot with this build so it is important to always have sentry out n shooting.
5.Vault(Crimson) I`m hoping that vault will grant invincibility frames! I will be vaulting through people constantly!
6.Preperation(Alabaster) This build needs this for the amount of vaulting n sentries that will be used.
Explanation:
I`m really hoping that vault grants invincibility frames so that I will not be taking dmg as I vault through. Can anyone in the beta help me out on this subject?
Anywho, back to it! First, drop a bunch of spikes on the ground around your sentry to keep it from getting destroyed or at least whoever attacks it will take some damage and have theirs reduced (If the sentry can be attacked). I will be vaulting through causing fire dmg per second as well as having the tether doing dmg. Once you get behind the enemy you will want to throw an impale at them to stun them causing them to sit in your DPS lines. Throw out a lot of fans in between every move!
Basic attack strategy:
throw out traps
throw out sentry
vault past enemy
FoK
impale
FoK
FoK
FoK
vault
FoK
vault(your behing the enemy again doing both tether n fire dmg)
impale
FoK
FoK
etc...
Refresh sentry whenever it goes down and use preparation whenever you need it!
Hope this build will see a lot of play!
Any comments about improvements will be appreciated (say why you changed something).
Reason for edit: I didnèt have enough Fan of Knives in there
dang! I didn't know that! I was going by the vids I saw where it could be spammed That puts a little kink in my plans but not to worry I'll just change:
FoK to Obsidian for stun as well! So if I use FoK then Impale that will be 6.5 seconds of stun but those are only rank 4 runes! I'm guessing with rank 7 runes the stun will add up to 10 second hopefully But even if it doesn't I will be using vault and traps to make up for lost time!
I think this build would work with either FoK Crimson or Obsidian
Didn't Blizz say something about not balancing PvP???
Their focus will be mainly on balancing pvm but they will give pvp a little as well. The stuns and slows would be just too overpowered if they lasted as long as they do in pvm. Remember that these long stuns are mostly single target and there will more than likely be a big mob to deal with at the same time, and you're expected to be able to cut through these mobs eventually. PvP is different and clearly needs some balancing.
And I love seeing builds with FoK because I fell in love with that skill from the start! Then I lost that love a bit when I saw the useless damage it dealt in the earlier patches, but now it's back
Oh and I just lost a bit of it again now that I heard it has a 10sec cooldown...
lol if FOK had no CD it would be insanely OP, best ability in the game by far. in fact its still super OP even with a 10 second CD so i sense a future nerf coming on.
