I'm not arguing that Darklight is not strong, I'm arguing Maximus is. That 2:48 clear also has insane density, he is at 30% before the portal even leaves his minimap.
Wow that's impressive; hadn't seen that before. I don't think it's fair to compare the two weapons by comparing the two videos, though. The two rift compositions are very different. For instance, he only kills 1 elite pack before the RG spawns! Haha, insane.
I think the two weapons are comparable. I've played with both, and both are strong. However, Darklight has the advantage of not relying on an awkward fire chain mechanic, or a minion that is easily killed in higher difficulties.
Been trying to tell people that Maximus is a badass weapon around here. Clearly you've shown it without question :).
Thanks! Yea, that was the main purpose of me recording and uploading this video; I was hoping to show that Maximus is a viable T6 option. Glad that came across.
Mannercookie is an amazing player who has great videos, but I think it is a problem when people around here just say "that's the best, use that" or "Maximus sucks" because he said so without testing each weapon out for themselves (which does matter based on how each player interacts with the game). I agree with the statement that the weapons are comparable, I have also extensively tested both with over 500 hours on my crusader which I've been playing exclusively since RoS came out and have been fire specced since back when using Blazing Sweep was all the rage lol.
RD as a fellow tester of setups you may be interested in some of the single target parses I tested in PTR recently below. Test was on Azmodan with FoH/Law of Valor/Steed/Arakats standard across all specs, the 2 skills listed were the flex skills for the test:
PTR 29, 27, 30, 28, 20, 16, 20, 25, 22, 27, 19, 19, 21, 28, 25, 30 (I tested this one a few more times than the rest as tests 1-5 seemed a ton longer than 6-10 so I wanted to make sure I wasn't just sucking when I did the first few runs)
Mean 24.1 (SD 4.5)
the only buff that maximus needs on ptr now is for the demon to be able to stay alive longer in greater rifts 25+ but even with my gear and spec if the demon is able to stay alive for his full duration he the damage from the fire chains still melts t6 mobs much faster than before
Try combining Maximus Demon with either Laws of Valor Frozen in Terror or Shield Glare. CCing mobs and then ripping into them with the fire chain works wonders, and these tactics will only become stronger when combined with Bane of the Trapped gem.
For anyone interested in my antics, I've been playing on the PTR a fair amount recently, getting ready for Greater Rifts! Last night the 4 man group I was in was able to clear level 42 in 13:31!
*EDIT* I was NOT using Maximus for this run, I was Condemn specced.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to record, but the monk was, so if anyone is interested in seeing the video, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZnowlYaIlY
*Note* There are no monster HP numbers, and the quality isn't great, but at least it was recorded in some form. Also, the only evidence that it was level 42 is that we got the level 43 key at the end
Unless they changed it GRifts are unaffected by torment level in terms of mob HP. Admittedly last I checked was basically when they hit the PTR so there is that.

No audio; I figured silence was better than some random song
I'm considering starting a Crusader. Can u post link to your profile on bnet?
Want to see skill and gear
cheers!

If you're interested in seeing my spec/gear for the fight, I uploaded a very short video of us doing level 39 from my PoV, which can be found here: http://youtu.be/GSoKPGwncPA?list=UU5Q4DtRxUm90EyedJbxGofA
That aside. Awesome job.
Reaching Grift 42 is indeed impressive! Well done mate!
