You should be fine to drop some tankiness @ Ezelious,i can understand the want to play a thematic build as i personally do it with a fire build i'm very partial too. But you will probably hit a wall at around t3. i'd suggest making aughilds for bracers + chest and ashearas legs/boots which will give you some addition tankiness if you have the recipes and make it.

This would make it more comfortable for you to ease into strength gems. Also wrathful will give you some big heals using shield bash, so if you find that elites are the problem i'd switch renewal to it, because it's only really useful when you're fighting a big swarm of stuff.

I've adjusted my build based on some additional finds and in response to some suggests given to me here (from Optic). Here is my new build/gear:

My total DPS buffed is reading as 724k, but I also have +50% holy dmg total all from helm, neck, and wrist. My toughness is 9.4k in game (for some reason it doesn't show that on character profile).

It was suggested that my build before was way too heavy on toughness (I had 14 mil/800k life) and low on dmg (I had 550k or so). However, I felt like I was doing T3 comfortably, maybe a little slow. Now that I took the suggestion to lower my toughness and increase my damage, I feel like my performance is much worse in T3. I am constantly running away to avoid death (and thereby not dealing dmg) and I feel like my health drops fast. It feels like I'm doing something wrong, since I have dropped running T3 and now run T2.

I also switched from a Blessed Hammer/close range build to a long-range Fist of the Heavens build and maybe that will help my performance Iin T3 (since now I can deal damage at more range). I will test this out.

My Paragon spec is:

1: All STR.2: All CD. 3: All life regen. 4: All area damage.
I would appreciate any suggestions about how to improve further. Thank you :).


EDIT*** : First of the Heavens + Wrathful build seems to be working a lot better on T3 since I can now deal a lot more damage at range. I suppose the hammer build wasn't working as well because they require more of a tanky gear set. Anyway, suggestions still welcome!

I wouldn't mind some suggestions. I've been trying to gear to be more survivable. So far I've only found one Akkhan piece. Not sure why but ingame I have near 16 million toughness and about 600 k damage but thats not what's showing on Battle.net. Anyway, thanks in advance !

Thanks for the tips. I will read through it all closer once I get home from work and try some of your suggestions. I do have a Maximus very similar to yours (I think) in my stash that I can try. I will also try to acquire a Cindercoat asap.

Howdy everyone, I've been somewhat fortunate with weapon drops and have Fate of the Fell, Schaefer's Hammer, Maximus, Skywarden, Gyrfalcon's Foote, and The Mortal Drama. I've been trying to find a build I really like and the majority of my gear skews towards Fire coming in at 51%, Holy at 41%, and Lightning at 39% with a lot of room for rerolling on things like Harrington Waistguard, Razor Strop, and Thundergod's Vigor. I was hoping I could get some opinions about maybe where to go next or what to try, here's my armory

thanks for the input silvach, I'm using defender of westmarch right now for kicks but I was thinking of switching to Coven's Criterion if I'm going to continue using punish for the extra mitigation

Covens Criterion is the tankiest shield available, I like the defender of Westmarch but despite having an incredible block rate (say against Firechains damage) the wolf would only seem to proc at a steady rate; as if it had some form of internal cooldown; which swiftly turned me off it. I now run with Jekangbord and Prio Marella and swap between them depending on whether I'm clearing or killing a boss. I appreciate your answer was tailored to a fire-build crusader not holy



And yeah Akkarats Awakening is broken as hell, and a free ticket to t6. Its pretty rare but the special is dumb as hell I can't wait to get mine and carry my clan to glory :P*

*Until you have this shield, you should be spending ALL your blood shards at Kadala on shields. Just sayin'

Wanted to pop back in and give props to Silvach for some solid advice. Switched to using the Maximus and man what a difference. I did find a decent 2 handed flail and really wanted to use it (just cause I like the look of the flails). But it was missing the impact of the fire skills extra damage. I feel like I'm actually doing some damage now. Also usingProvoke with Charged Up was a good call. Reallyappreciate you taking time out to help some other players..

@ Sotdeath i'd suggest going for a harringtons belt, very noticeable increase in power. Did you have to roll into three sockets on your chest because i can't tell from the batlenet. if you haven't i'd suggest changing the life regen into condemn damage.

@ Enterich even monks get crusader shields, unfortunately i don't think the chance will be any better on your barb so i wish you the best of luck getting a defender of westmarch, it's such a beautiful shield.
