Hey all, I was wondering what I could do to improve my crusader.
I can do T1 and T2 just fine. I can do T3 in a group and solo, but solo results in a few deaths. Here's a link to my build. Any input greatly appreciated.
One last thing - I'm trying to go for CDR over anything else, and I think this is working against me, thoughts?
hey, so far by looking at your build, not having a true primary skill for regen hurts in my opinion. I do t4 fine solo t5 gives me trouble , im also missing the holy dmg I would love to find the right items. link to my profile to show you what im doing, http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/JVS-1620/hero/44043566 I choose to keep justice , helps a lot and still does enough dmg. also helps with kiting out of nasty stuff. I have a high crit build which can make using judgement pointless, when I get the right holy dmg and removesome of the crit hit chanceit will come in more handy. I switch my passives around a lot just depends on what im doing. when I get a holy dmg weapon I will swap again.

He does use the weapon that allows you to have no wrath cost on blessed shield.
To improve: you need way more vitality and all resist (tho vit is more important) I would reroll your reduced CD on gloves to vit. Your amulet is just plain garbage tbh, a yellow with vit, str, crit and 90%+ crtdmg is better. I know your shield is mandatory to the build, but with 13% block you ain't cutting it. I would recommend to swap out lord commander for renewal with a higher block shield. Heals for a ton. And you can use blunt instead of fevor. Cause Fevor is mainly used for quicker wrath generation.
It looks like your biggest improvement needs to be focusing on toughness. In your case, I might change out judgement for something more defensive like Iron skin. CDR isn't worth using for your current Cd's as they have too long of a cooldown for a reasonable amount of CDR to be useful. Swap your Lord Commander passive for Holy Cause , increasing all holy damage you deal. I also might swap your red gems for Diamonds of the same quality. Also if you are paragon 229, why haven't you put full points into movement speed? If so, why didn't you re roll movement speed off the boots. In case you aren't aware, movement speed caps at 25%, so if you have the movement speed through paragon points, then it is useless on the gear.
There are many items in your gear that doesn't provide you enough toughness, or even any in the case of your gloves. As a Crusader you really want Vit and AR on gear, Str goes without saying, and CC/CD is a bonus if you can get it without losing any of the first stats. An example is that your shoulders are really good. Not perfect, but you have everything on your shoulders that you should have in that slot.
There is a website on the front page that will really give you a good idea of what itemized stats need to go in which spots.
You seem to be avoiding block chance, is there something I misunderstand about this build? Wouldn't Justice Lantern, for example, be +40% Blessed shield damage? or the +10% block chance on your shield be +25% Blessed shield damage?(better than +15% you're trying to roll).
As for toughness, people tend to push for hich Vit/Life which doesn't yeld good results. It's better to have ~400k HP with higher resistances and some healing, than 600k hp with low resistances.
As for paper dps, it's pretty good to have high values, but you always have to consider other things. I hace 650k paper dps but ~100% fire damage, which is more or less 1.3m dps. So if somebody has 1m paper sheet dps and 30% of any elemental damage he's doing more or less same dps as I am.
On top of that I'm using Judgement - Resolved (with ~33% critical hit chance), which makes all my hits crits, thus my 650k is further increased in reference to somebody who has 55% crit chance.
But most important thing is to play the way and build that's most fun for you.
I still have no clue why you guys rely on a 20-second cd ability with an uptime of about 33% without any RCD items/gem/paragon skill. Though Mannercookie also points out that stacking over 20% CC is useless with that skill. Still i prefer to be ready to deal out dmg at any time i want to.
And about vit/AR - read Mannercookie again. He explains why more vit is essential ('cause you're going to have a bigger hp pool to prevent overhealing).
As for paper dps - you can't really trust it. Imagine the situation where you hit like a truck with extra strong 2-hander - you can deal out pretty big numbers, but you attack pretty slow and you also lack mobility which in elite/boss fights means you can't attack them consistently and therefore have a risk of dealing less damage overall.

Well, if you count damage as posted today in a movie in DiabloFans main site, my Blessed Shield damage now is:
340%+250%*block chance=340%+250%*18%=340%+45%=385%. And adding +Blessed Shield dmg on top of that is 385%*14%=439% (and that's not taking +block from passives or other items, that adds to the BS damage (at least that's what people are saying))
if I change the bleesed shield damage with +11%block chance I'll have:
340%+250%*block chance=340%+250%*29%=340%+73%=413%.
From my calculations, Blessed Shield > +block chance, but my calculations might be wrong.
Off course, Justice Lantern or Helm of Rule are nice add ons to the damage, and of course +block chance is great defensive boost, which +Blessed shield damage is not.
Did quotes break or something? I wasn't even aware I was quoted here and had to re-read it a few times, lol.
I was mistaken on what exactly block chance did to the skill, however you never really have to choose between block chance and blessed shield damgae - you could have them both effectively. The only exception is the ring - Unity is just all around a better item over Justice Lantern for damage. SoJ/Unity is probably the strongest setup. With the change in my understanding of block chance's effect, Justice Lantern would probably be a poor choice all around.
Helm of Rule with Block Chance, Blessed Shield, Strength, Crit chance (have to reroll 1 from Vit) Jakengbord with Block chance, Strength, blessed shield and crit chance(have to reroll 1 from vit) seems like the better option.
He mentioned he's having trouble dying in T3 and was asking for help, so in that sense I was wondering why the sacrificing of all block chance.

This is what I am using with that same weapon.
