With all the conduit or bust hate going out there, I thought I'd show some light at the end of the tunnel.
First ever try with a Tier 43 and I managed to pull out a win.
There's so many FC guides and builds out there with many many variations it's hard to generalize them all. So all I'd like to suggest as far as advice is really learn to abuse vile wards the best you can. Always always always make dragging packs into other packs a priority. Hitting the critical mass of mobs is really exciting to see them all explode. I know certain mobs have terrible hit boxes and certain tile sets can be a nightmare to travel. But learn the angles and learn to adjust. Don't be afraid to skip champ packs or bad affixes. The more distance you travel, the higher chance you'll hit the end of the rift, the higher chance you'll end up getting a pylon. Though in this case it didn't seem to require it.
Give yourself as much time for bosses as possible and never give up. Don't go in with the expectation of losing, even if the time runs out, think of all the gem upgrades you could get! All that aside I doubt you'll be able to get higher than 45 without conduit. But who knows with how much changes on a day to day basis.
The deaths at the end were pure inexperience with the difficulty as I didn't expect to be 1 shot. Learned my lesson fairly quickly and made it a very very close race.
So good to know is possible. One problem is that when trying 40 myself I go without mirinae and frenzy, to fish the conduit. I should try to do it "legit" now I guess...
So due to some more testing on bosses using Tier40 as a reference. Pure single target with 100% uptime on the boss, I generate about 6.25bil/minute damage without ruthless kicking in, 8.75bil with ruthless (sub 30%).
I've done around 14 or 15 Tier40's today and I have around a 60% or so success rate. Couple of them being 9-10minute boss kills without conduit, others failing within a couple of minutes. 60% success may not seem too great but it relies heavily on the boss you get. All of my clears had at least 4 minutes to kill the bosses which cuts it close for majority of them. I understand 40 is not exceptionally high but its enough to really see the potential of your damage and see how far you can really get.
Note that the setup I'm running with is Bul-Kathos Wedding Band as it appears to do about 25-40mil/sec while directly near bosses/mobs. While that may not seem like much, when our boss fights last as long as they do, its a huge portion of damage. So Unity + BK Wedding Band means no leorics which to me is a huge hit as I was a big supporter of the 50%+ cdr. I now sit at 43.58% meaning I have a couple of seconds downtime on Ignore Pain which is a huge painful experience in a lot of cases. Another change which people may have been aware of is Ancient Parthan Defenders becoming active during the drag portion of Furious Charge. You take the 20-30% damage hit from Strongarms, but it just gives some incentive to drag more mobs together to hit that critical mass.
I think you would be interested in testing out Bastion's Revered If you haven't already. I think it's quite awesome and should possibly be viable for high gr. Didn't have the time to test it out too much myself because i play mostly in groups.
Nope, I didn't have much experience so I went in with Wrath - Insanity and Cota - The council rises.
With worse affixes I think I would of got floored. I think together as one is probably a safer choice.
I thought they were hitting a little too hard for Together as One! Well I agree it is safer but you might not have made the timer otherwise. You are using more DPS talents than a lot of the other people on the leaderboard... the mix of Parthian Defenders and Bul-Kathos is the main difference gear wise that seems to allow you to get away with that.
Again, impressive even if you didn't get any 5-pack-fire-chains hate.
Your absolutely right. You really have to squeeze every drop of damage increase you can, and I think you have to rely heavily on the bracers to carry you through the damage output.
I tested a 46 boss (Infernal Maiden) and I required at least 2 active defensive cooldowns going to survive just a swing. 46 is definitely getting ahead of myself but it's always a good idea to gauge what's possible I suppose. It also took me 26-27 minutes to kill which included far too many deaths to count. I did notice you can be at max range while attacking and she will hit your templar instead. Sadly the BulKathos ring is just out of range making that not an available strat
From my experience ancients with together as one last around 3 seconds. On a boss fight you will nerf your dps if you use together as one not only because your ancients do less dmg but also because they die faster than council rises.
Though Stonesinger is widely known and expected as the easiest of bosses, it turns out that it's one of the harder ones. I believe if this was The Binder, Saxtrix, maybe even Man Carver it would of been killed I think. Either way I need to learn how to deal with Stonesinger better for the future.

Good Job on the kill
I was doing 38 rift and I had 8 mins left on the timer and saw stonesinger (I was quite happy because I could smack him down with FC) I was wrong, his meele hits were hitting too hard and I was not able to finish on time (died too much)
he is really hard for barbarians, piece of cake for demon hunters. (at high levels)
Yeah I need to understand the duration and stats for diminishing returns on freeze much better. It all comes down to if it's better to just go crazy and then get out before you die, or slow down your charges for less throughput on your damage to slow the diminishing enough to have them perma frozen which I highly doubt is possible.
Here's a T44 Binder kill I did today just to see the kill speed of a standard kill might look like.

Yea I find I feel naked without frenzy and mirinae, even though you lose out on an amulet affix and a free skill.

@OP: Gratz! And thanks for the additional info.

I'll have to look into it. I've been keeping an eye on any good rolled ones but never had one worth keeping. But I'll definitely have a look into it.
Also, showing off... lol

Had some fairly close runs tonight. Here's a video of the closest Tier 44 so far.

Sadly I'm running out of 44's and getting super lazy about restocking, losing motivation with the game atm
