Hello, I just encountered my new favorite build that I absolutely LOVE to play right now. It's the boulder barb using the Boulder Skill of the Ancient Spear. It's a very effective elite killer (if you manage to group them up, more on that later) as well as boss killer. I have a 120k DPS Skorn barb with approx. 350% Crit damage and my crits go as high as 7m! The foundation of this build is fury, the more fury, the more damage you will deal. Thus you will pick all the fury generation active and passive skills. For your primary fury generator attack I suggest using weapon throw as it will scale with the legendary "The Three Hundredth Spear" (which I don't have unfortunately) as it will increase both weapon throw and ancient spear your main source of damage. If you happen to have a good spear variant of the spear please test it out and leave a comment in here, I can only guess how awesome that spear is with this build. In my testing I found out that most fury generator shouts and skills have the neat feature of gathering mobs to you, especially Demoralize is really awesome for these annoying range mobs as they will approach you even though they are range! I can only imagine the awesome legendary effects one can gather to make this build absolutely OP (fury from life bubbles, stunning increases damage, knock back increases damage etc.) Also, having a skill that scales with fury is incredible useful to Paragon Points, more Paragon Points = more max fury = more weapon damage off of Boulder Toss. Likewise Max Fury is an absolutely must have for this build, as 1 more max fury (when on max fury which is fairly easy) equals to 20% more weapon damage.
So let's get to the meat of this showcase, in my version of the Boulder Barb I use the following passives:
Superstition
Unforgiving
Animosity
Actives are:
Weapon Throw - Balanced Weapon
Ancient Spear - Boulder Toss
Ground Stomp - Wrenching Smash
Leap - Call Of Arreat
Threatening Shout - Demoralize
Warcry - Charge!
As follower I have picked the Templar with his passive Inspire, giving faster Fury generation is pretty nice!
Okay enough of the talk, here's a video of my newly discovered Boulder Barb which I am playing terrible lol. I literally just found this build so I am bad at playing it. But I already know, with more experience and more tailored gear this build will go through the roof. Have fun and thanks for watching/reading!
Looks like a pretty sweet build, I shall have to give it a go on the PTR later. I would imagine 2 handers would be the best for this build for the huge crits, although 300 Spear + EF or some other combination of one handers and it could be on a basis much like that of HoTA build being played at present, smaller crits but more frequently. Add some Cooldown reduction there and you could spam your fury generators more, ultimately using high fury Ancient spear giving more damage Great work, I'm really looking forward to the potential for build diversity with the new updates
would love to try this - call of the ancients with fury generation + 5 piece bonus of IK set + ring to lower req to 4piece to get Tasker and Theo gloves (40-50% attack speed after nerf ) for boost our ancients + 300 spear ofkoz
The combination of Call of the Ancients with Fury Generation + Immortal King Set + Tasker Theo will be just awesome ^^ With the passive Animosity and the Templarskill, you will gain 4,5 Fury each time a ancient will hit enemies.I like to have Bloodthirst aswell. Each Bouldertoss will heal you to full health
For RoS: Avalanche + Earthen Might could be intresting. Using Avalanche will grant you about 75 Fury. Using Bouldertoss will lower the CD on Avalanche for 10 Seconds if you have 150 and that specific Rune (1 sec CD reduction for 15 Fury used) - repeat
[edit] If you have space left on your skillbar for Battle Rage: Try into the fray. You will get 1% crit for each enemy within 10 yards. Gather mobs and use skills like Groundstomp + wrenching smash to get nearly guaranteed crits.
Is it possible to reroll the current 300th spear, so it will be of any use for RoS? Equipping two of these, "legacy" and the new one, will grant you up to 100% additional dmg for weapon throw and ancient spear
[edit] changed legacy to current
Is it possible to reroll the legacy 300th spear, so it will be of any use for RoS? Equipping to two of these, legacy and the new one, will grant you up to 100% additional dmg for weapon throw and ancient spear

holy crapsticks... This build is actually pretty epic needed something to replace my old WW barb, think this is my boy even with my godawful gear (IK full set and Bul'kathos weapon set) I'm still easily able to handle Torment I, could probably go higher.
Still enjoying this build so much, rewards good play and tactical positioning so much. WW was brainless but good damage. This needs skill and does damage. Barb is back for me.

nice build works great on torment 1 in 60lvl gear, atm got 190 fury so crits are insane
I only have 151 fury but the build works fine. 6-7m crit is insane
I did some Ghom speedkills with my boulder barb
put on call of the ancients with fury generation and superstision passive. Could spam max fury boulder

Just wanted to say that this spec is excellent to farm Ghom with, even killed him on Torment6 with a slight modification to the spec.
I dont think Ghom liked being crited for 26 milions xD(at lvl 60)
P.s i used the 300 spear.
Equipping two of these, "legacy" and the new one, will grant you up to 100% additional dmg for weapon throw and ancient spear
Wow, never thought of that but It needs to be tested. It would be best to re-roll the damage at level 70.
unfortunately legacy 300 spear looks like this

@lyll3k
Typo. Sorry, I didn´t meant the "legacy" version, but the current version, which will become some sort of "legacy" version with RoS.
Dualwielding 300 spears(600 spear?) look so badass
I'm hovering over the new one, the one with the socket is from live.
this build is crazy. i am at 165 fury, 227k dps @ PTR. 517% crit damage, 49,50% critchance and a skorn.8,5-10,4m crits
11,4m crit @ 209k dps, 562% crit damage, 40,5% crit chance
update: got boots with 10% ancient spear damage boost. 12,5m crits
ancients with berserker (insanity rune) @ grom is very funny
Use Berserker rage (passive) would boots up your damage like insane. Brawler is also optional.

I believe this belongs in the Barbarian subforum. I'll leave a redirecting link on GD for some time, though.
