So I've not see this build talked about, but I love it. Using Merciless Assault rune with Furious Charge my barb runs through a pack of guys a couple times (4-5 monsters hit and the skill is refreshed instantly) and then runs to safety to Seismic Slam them all down the rest of the way. I've gotten to Infern Act 4 solo doing this, with only minor gear upgrades from the AH (mostly rings with LoH and Life Steal).
If you're looking for another build that's not the WW, I'd recommend trying this one. It's a lot of fun to run back and forth knocking 40+ guys all around, then killin em with 2-3 seismic slams.
FYI, the other skills I use are Overpower (Revel) for when I dash into a big crowd and can instantly go back up to full life. War Cry (Impunity) to keep rage up for SS and not get one shotted by rares. Bash (Instigation) for quick SS build up and the knockback. And EarthQuake (Mountain's Call) so I can dash in the middle of a big crowd, drop EQ to burn them all, then dash out again.
The only part of this build I'm not totally happy with is the Bash. I just can't figure out a good replacement. I really don't like Frenzy, because it's not a stand around and hit guys kind of build, and I can never get the Frenzy to stack long enough to make it worth doing.
I've tested similar build before, problem is furious charge and seismic slam is kind of redundant. They both serve the same aoe purpose and you're probably going to do just as well using one or the other.
With enough fodder mobs to hit you could chain furious charge forever, eliminating the necessity of having to use seismic slam. When charge is on cooldown it usually mean there's only 1-2 mobs left to be finished off with bash anyway. Plus if you mess up on charge cooldown, you could at most wait for less than 10 seconds before it's ready to go again.
Slam build also works, but then again you're probably better off replacing furious charge with something else. Usually you just go for wotb/eq/iib to burn through elite pack quickly.
If you really want to, stamina rune for charge might work better with slam.
You can use charge to get out of tight position, or when ur rage run dry. Charge past the mobs and then your fury should be maxed, allowing you to chain slam until charge is off cd again.
No point getting merciless assault when you already have slam, tbh (and vice versa).
Alright. Seismic Slam is gone. Rend has replaced it, and I've lost EQ too in favor of Leap (Iron Impact).

It's incredible, whereas I was doing well but having to be very cautious before, now I'm just rocking through runs. Build fury and resil with War Cry, spend that fury on Battle Rage for ultra dps, Leap into the crowd or elite's face and Rend followed by Charge out of the group and into the next, Rend, repeat.
Hmm.. wanted to reply to this. Im not using charge anymore.. dont really like the skill. I just wanted to give my opinion about slam. I think seismic slam is the most awesome skill with barbs. My main attack is Bash - Punish.. with that i can buff my dps for short period of time every now and then. My main dps skill is seismic slam - strenght from the earth. I gain fury from using battle rage with the 15 fury gained from crits. And i also use overpower with crit rune. So i just basically stay away from mobs and crap and just spam seismic slam and destroy everything. So awesome... now i never really die and farming is very fast. Though when 1.0.5 comes out, i need to get some getaway skill like leap or charge. I havent really never liked rend build.. i just feel more safe to stay semi ranged and in that purpose seismic slam works great. I think everyone who has problems surviving in act3 should try this build.. as long as you have enough crit chance to gain fury from crits. Here's my profile:
I used a build like that back pre 1.0.4, have though about going back to it cause I do mis seismic slam. However I'm too in love with merciless assault and rend atm
i've been using a similar build for quite a while, ever since i realized i was too undergeared for an appropriate whirlwind build. While i would get stomped with other builds, Seismic slam (with reduced rage rune) allows me to handle most everything. I've wanted to post about this build for a while, and figured to speak up since ive seen these builds popping up here recently. (i appologise for not knowing the name of any rune in advance)
Obviously there are variations, and i havnt got to experiment since 1.0.5, but i've had considerable success using charge with the healing rune as my main "oh shit" button (being undergeared), with Rend AND seismic slam for damage. bashing inbetween, using the rune that increases overal dmg stacking 3 times (why is there no visual buff for this still). finish it up with war cry and battle rage for buffs.
for trash, charge, rend, and then slam juggle them around and repeat till dead. for bosses, bash and rend as nessciarry to keep buffs/debuffs up, and slam the rest of the time.
it should go without saying, but this is a 2handed build
