Its pretty crazy how quickly you can get to/kill elite packs with the whirlwind/sprint spec. You can literally run through everything straight to packs. Heres a video I made getting 5 stacks, killing warden and butcher in 13 mins.
I don't think whirlwind build is the way to go since mobs die so fast and you spend most of your time in between packs. Plus for each pack ww build takes a while to set up and let the damage build.
act1 mobs are so weak that with some decent 2h, every trash will die within 2 swings of cleave with rupture. For champion packs you can alternate between EQ+Ignore Pain and watch them die in 5 seconds or just wotb+Ignore Pain while waiting for EQ cooldown. You only spend your rage on one ability and that is to sprint as fast as possible to get to the next elite pack.
I've tried out about every competitive build that is out there with gear worth about ~20m. I have to say the fastest and most fun spec is the ranged throwing spec. I kill elites way faster than you do in this video with worse gear.
Plus going ranged gives you so much opportunity to cut farming time by not having to run to every single mob and position yourself in a way you have to run the shortest possible paths.
Ok, Can you literally sprint/Whirlwind through every white mob with almost no defensive gear and not die? The point is that your literally zoom past everything and champions packs die in ~5 secs with wotb. You can take insanity rune when farming like this as theres no point really to use thrive on chaos when your skipping straight to elite packs.
As far as my gear, it really isnt worth that much. It is average at best, only 30% crit and my weapons are 840dps with no stats and 670 with life on hit. Also there are almost no ranged elites in this route, the only ranged there can be is archers and there fairly easy and don't run
THis might work with a high dps 2hander, could try it out
This really isn't "a billion gold" build. It is pretty cheap to make, you can use standard res all barb gear and just duel wield with a mace/axe in the main hand. Crit/crit damage stuff helps but act 1 is so easy you dont need it. I prolly spent 200k buying a pair of gloves with crit and buying an 800+dps one hand.
I only died on that pack because I got jammed between waller and arcane with very hard hitting mobs and no Wotb. I rarely ever die when I do this run
"It's been confirmed multiple times from multiple sources, including developer chats, that magic find doesn't affect ilvl in any way, nor does it change affix distributions*. It just alters the percentage chance that any given item of a certain ilvl will be upgraded from a white to a blue, a blue to a yellow, and so on."
With killing elite packs you are already guaranteed the yellows with a 5 stacks. Magic find isn't really neccesary. Not saying its not helpful, but its definately not required.

You're guaranteed 1 rare from a pack. When I switch to my 293% magic find set, I usually get 3 rares. It's incredibly helpful. Not necessary, true, but very worth it.

Whaaat? You really need ignore pain and EQ for act 1? Are you in hell 55ilvl gear or wtf? Waste of skills, even with 300res, 15kdps 30khp (you can buy such stats for 200k or less) is super easy to farm warden/butcher and packs.
Get leap for mobility and shortcuts, charge with reduced cd on hit for even more mobility, frenzy sidearm or maniac, sprint 5s, revenge with provocation, and wotb insanity. in a1 you can't encounter an elite pack that will survive 15 wotb/+100% damage unless you use 100dps normal sword.
I use ignore pain just for safety measure so I don't have to move or avoid damage. If you actually read my post I said I used EQ and wotb ALTERNATIVELY.
You really don't need any other hitting ability since everything dies to one cleave. You kill (and run, with marathon) so fast, your wotb will be on cd half the time, but with EQ you always have a button to instakill an elite pack.
Don't really need any more mobility when you can spam sprint, really, and charge actually does not allow you to run that much faster because of the animation lock afterwards.

The alternation maybe faster if you can kill white mobs without them taking too much time up. Since the longest part of ww build is killing the actual elite packs when wotb is on CD.

You can gear this spec up enough to speedfarm act 1 with only a few million.
