I have recently got my barbarian to level 60 and into Inferno (killed inferno diablo on my monk so I know how melee works...more or less). All is going well and I am enjoying him at present as a glass cannon build with 65k DPS. However I am wanting to transition out of being a glass cannon and into a more survivable character that can go around in act 3/4 and not have the worry about getting one shot by ranged mobs and such (Yes I am aware that if i get more DPS and life steal/LoH I can keep my self going, but deaths suck and I want to avoid it as much as possible, especially with the new repair costs and my bad luck with drops).
Now currently I have around 28k HP and my resists are shockingly low at 200-250 across the board. I DW axes and all that jazz.
Now with what I want to do (act 3/4 MF farming at a reasonable speed) what sort of stats should I be aiming for? 600-700 resist all roughly before shout? 40-60k HP? 30k+ DPS? and finally should I sword and board it or just go 2 weapons and mow stuff down?
I have been reading alot of threads about going pure DPS and others to go tank and yet more to go hybrid and I am just confused on which to go for both speed and survivability in acts 3/4 and if you have a link to a viablo spec would be great.
I used to be a tank but I've switched to play dps lately. It's definitely doable. However, I think with the way most barb skill works going 2h might be a better way to go. As far as farming elites goes I found that the best way to kill elites is to go wotb+eq+ignorance is a bliss. I mean, why bother avoiding all the affixes if you can kill them in 5 seconds?
well thats what I have been doing at present, but with no resists to speak of or anything like that, if I mess up somehow and they are still alive after Ignorance is up, i die due to having no mitigation. *Shrug* time to go tank and see how it goes, if not, ill have the bits to go hybrid with what I have now + what I will pick up for tanking.
Stack crit and crit dmg and you have no problem. Revenge is quite strong even with 15k dps unbluffed in a full game.
i have 35k life, 7k bluff armor and can tank anything in act 1 and 2. Only exception is fast ice bomb, arcane (They lay like 20 ice bombs and like 10 arcane bean, it is not even funny). Which I have to avoid been frozen for 2 seconds.
- Get armor items with str, vit, all resist for starting. Some additional physical resist on items is nice as well. Some crit/critdmg if you can afford it.
- Get a Sacred Shield (those big white shields with ilvl63) with extra %block and a high block chance.
- a cheap Helm of Command helps a lot, even if stats suck
For stats I say buffed 1k+ resi, 9-10k armor (with Enchantress) and a high block chance will do. As for HP, the higher the better because all your heals scale with your HP.
And for Life on Hit... either you go full Life on Hit (800+) or not at all, because low values don't really help. But with Sword and Board this will be difficult.
Remember that you have to get hit in order to proc Revenge... dodges don't count but blocks do (afaik). And for Revenge (and Furious Charge w/ Dreadnought) to heal you, you have to hit targets.
E.g. Azmodan alone is difficult, Azmodan with adds = piece of cake because they don't do much damage but allow you to heal for more and also proc Revenge more often. Adds are your friend ^^
How much gold will all that gear cost roughly?
And just the shield alone?
When farming, do you guys tend to just leap/charge through all the trash until you come across the elite packs or do you clear full (i.e. killing all white trash as well)?
Leap and charge, deal with what still follows you when you encounter elites. Exept... really bad mobs like succubus debuffing your armor, goat cultists that place shields and the likes of them - generally ranged mobs that bring you aditional pain without any benefit.
