well to be honest and i hope i dont sound like an ASS i am not surprized you think inferno is balanced for barb, you have gear well worth over 40-50mil. Also the point i want to make is that you basically have to be 1h + shield to go past act 2.
Well, Inferno is designed to be challenging. If you could 5 stack kill Inferno Diablo without spending more than 10 mil on gear, would you really consider the game balanced/challenging?
i guess i am just kinda pissed that people playing DH/WiZ can do ACT 4 with like half the gear i have.
I was too, but then I realized that wizards /DH in the same level of gear as me struggle -more- in act 4 inferno. Barbs eventually reach that level where they're too tanky to kill, and we can grind down any elite pack. Wizards/DH on the other hand will always be squishy. A fallen angel pack will randomly kill them regardless of how much gear they have.
My wizard/DH friends are complaining about how I have no problems with act 4 inferno now, and yet they continue to struggle with it no matter how much better their gear improves.
Warguyver do u think it is worth it to drop 5 mil into a string of ears with 17% reduction and 1k armor 5% damage from melee and 4% from elite stormshield? EDIT also how much did you pay for ur stormshield if you dont mind telling us.
well to be honest i do enjoy a chalange i trololo in ACT I and have been working in ACT 2 as a 2h barb i have 750+ resist all 40k hp and 6.2k armor with 23k dps... i guess i am just kinda pissed that people playing DH/WiZ can do ACT 4 with like half the gear i have.
Try using both armor talents (enchantress if you aren't already), I had slightly higher resists and 8.2k armor in act2 worked well enough
spec is bomb warguyver. i have some questions though:
do you bother with attack speed? (ring/neck/gloves)
how do you decide between stats? (str/vit/res/armor/sockets/LoH/atkspd)
favorite places to farm in inferno?
I love attack speed. If possible, I try to get it on everything
Stats, as long as I'm above 40k hp, I tend to prioritize all resist > armor > phys/fire resist > str/vit. I feel fairly comfortable at 1000ish LoH; I would recommend getting at least that much before tackling Act3/4 inferno.
Favorite place to farm is probably a combination between Inferno ponies, Inferno Diablo (5 stack). Siege breaker is extremely easy and quick as well, but the loot doesn't feel as good.
1.1k Physical Resist
1k All Resists
31% Block (2800-3700)
76% dmg Reduction
So basically a bit less Armor, better other stats. Only things I don't have vs you are dmg reductions from Stormshield & String + Life on Hit (To damn expensive and been told many times its nice to have, but not needed)
- So basically it seems these are a must... what else?
9/10 Elite packs in Act3 I cant really do
Some normal mobs should also be avoided
Act3 can be done, but very very very slowly and allot of skipping. Can't be farmed and its definitely not fun to do.
(Its definitely not a skill related thing as I do know what I'm doing and come from a hardcore Wow background.)

Too much of this 'mandatory' talk. Stormshield nor String of Ears is not mandatory, it just depends on the build you are going with. I started off assuming that to progress through the later acts in Inferno you had to go full survivability. Nowadays you start to see some barbs increasing their DPS while maintaining that survivability. At least things are becoming a littlem ore diverse as the weeks go bye.
While I personally play a Moderate Survivability / DPS barb and I'm going through endless Siegebreaker runs in ACT 3, I've since moved on from String of Ears. 17%+ melee reduction is great, undeniably. However, I picked up a belt with 70+ res all, 180+ str and 140+ vit for a 2 million or so. I was reluctant to do so but I noticed no survivability issues afterwards, just much faster DPS.
As far as Stormshields being mandatory, I disagree. The strength of a stormshield is simply its high block capacity and its reduction of damage on elites or melee by 4%. The Resist to All can be found on any shield as well as the other stats. Stormshield is a great shield to tell someone to 'go buy that! you can't go wrong!' and outside of buying an extremely low block value, it'll be a good purchase (though very expensive). You can find higher resist all shields with as much block and better stats for half the gold of a Stormshield. I paid 3m for mine and its comparable to a higher block stormshield, not better but hey, 3 million isnt much.
I think you get more mileage out of the full survivability barb but there is a massive overhead to get it itemized to the point where you can do the stuff you're gearing him to do. I personally think the highbreed DPS build is the way to go and once the 1.0.3 hits and melee gets buffed, you'll want to shed some of that survivability for more damage output.
What people don't seem to realize is that the gear of some of the barbs that are out there completing 5 stack diablos are probably in the area of 50m or so. I've easily got 30m or so into mine and I wouldn't consider my barb to have GREAT gear, just strong gear that is capable to get through Inferno content. It's all about maximizing the gold vs loot intake (if you farm for gold). Don't go off that master list that people tote is the only way to play, read between the lines a bit more.
1) Ehp isn't really what you should be going by. You should look at total mitigation, while maintaining your hp at a level where you're comfortable of not being gibbed. I still see a lot of barbs overvaluing vit and undervaluing armor.
2) If you're going to wear HoC + JL, then don't use a storm shield; find a sacred shield instead. I'm still personally using stormshield because I don't use HoC + JL in favor of an extremely high armor helm + AR/ias/str/vit ring.
Quick question for those who are on Act 3/4 or even in 2. I'm here on Act 2, but my main question is; how do I get this gold? I know everything I need and how I want to play the game and get by inferno, but I don't know where to farm for this gold or these items. Lately I've been farming Butcher but everything I get from him is basically garbage and not worth that much on the AH.
if you can clear act 2 and get into act 3 and not die constantly affecting your repair bills , your on the right track
however if you are dieing repeatedly somewhere go back to where you are comfortable and continure to farm up the place and start getting MF (magic finder) gear to improve the drop chance of rares etc
also it doesnt hurt to know what other classes need in terms of loot to play the AH game
