Saw a couple threads similar to this, but I didn't want to derail / take over with my own personal plights.
I've recently broken into Act 3 Inferno mode, and have been getting steam rolled. I've watched Zrave's Act 3 farming video and have tried to replicate it with shaky results. I already know that it's mostly gear issue, but I'm not exactly sure where to make improvements or what stat to focus on. My stats can be seen in the following link.
The build in that link is what I use for farming easy content - was about to do some 5 stack Belial with that. I generally run my build during challenging content with:
Furious Charge: Dreadnaught
Ignore Pain: Iron Hide
Leap: Iron Impact
War Cry: Impunity
Frenzy: Sidearm
Revenge: Provocation
I know I could use some more resists and damage, but I've also heard that many people who are having success in Act 3 have quite a bit of life on hit.
Is IAS and Crit my best option for improving damage across the board at this point? I have very little of it currently.
Is having approximately 1000 life on hit a big milestone for act 3 progression?
tl;dr: I don't know where to focus my improvements on for Act 3 progression. Please halp?
I'm not sure what are you doing in Act 3 Inferno with those stats. What's with the blue gloves, leggings and rings? I guess having a blue weapon is acceptable.
I got 47k hp, 600 all resists. Sure, you take 15% less damage than me with those resists, but I also got 4 times your damage.
I was given the advice that Resist all > everything, which obviously can't be taken literally, but I picked up some pieces with Vit and Resist all where I was lacking. It was good enough advice to get through act 2, but I'm obviously having major issues now. You think I should amp up the damage a bit at the cost of survivability then? You using sword and board?
I'm not using sword and board, 2h all the way.
You should really balance stats, your dps will increase with higher dps weapon so since you're playing a tanky setup I don't recommend sacrificing defense to increase offense.
But I'm not really sure why you're using blue armor parts. Rares have like 2-3 more magical properties. You should invest in those. Try bidding instead of buying out, you can get nice items for cheap, the only downside is you have to wait.
Yes, having 1000+ life on hit is a big milestone. You get to a point where you can only mitigate so much damage, but revenge healing alone is not enough. You need life on hit to sustain your hp levels. 1000ish life on hit can be 1.5-2% of your max hp per hit, which is pretty insane considering how fast you hit with frenzy.
Thanks for the input everyone, I really appreciate it. I've managed to grab a 17% reduction string of ears for relatively cheap, and have already noticed a difference! Just gotta work towards everything else mentioned... one step at a time
