Hey guys, today I move on to G52. This was my 3rd or 4th attempt. After some discussion at the forums, I rerolled a couple gear pieces for more damage/less toughness and dropped the remaining diamonds for a more 'yolo' setup. Pretty decent rift with a power pylon and poison rift guardian at the end (finally). I could have done it without the pylon, but it helped shave off a good 30 seconds or so. I probably could have done it even faster if I saved the pylon for the end once Ruthless kicked in. I discuss various strategies throughout the rift, including whirlwind snapshotting on the guardian. Enjoy, discuss, and be on the lookout for the next tier!
Are you using Boon? it seems to be hard to keep wrath of berserker up at all times. Constantly having to hit rend... But don't want to loose passives for Boon....
Nope, and only 7% CDR from paragon. If I WW nonstop, I need to Rend exactly 3 times per duration to reset the cooldown. I also have 10% CDR on paragon - some players don't put any points there to reset it faster.
For speed farming when Ancients don't hit often enough and I can't keep WWing the entire time, I do use Boon. So Basically speed farm = Boon, solo GR = Superstition or Nerves of Steel, group GR (lol) = Superstition.
Guys i understand the all thing about season and zodiac ring but what about non season barb...what is the strongest build for high grifts?
Still the same but with less cooldown or almost the same but with belt string for mellee damage reduction unity+coe and op instead of ip?
What setup are you going for?
I'm doing this non-season.
If you're going for 6 Wrath + BK, you don't even have to use 2 IK. I'm still going for 6 Wrath/4 IK, but I'll be honest I'm struggling in 53. At this point it's all about fishing for the rift rift - mob type + density, then hope you don't get a terrible RG. The worst ones (currently) are Orlash (lightning breath wrecks everything), Rakanoth (1 shot), Raiziel (impossible at ~35%), and Saxtris (tornadoes are currently bugged). Honorable mention to Ghom if you're not rolling Mara's.
ya i dont know why people are always asking for the best set ups. do what you can with what you have. experiment. press shift+l to get some helpful guidelines. remember you cant emulate them exactly because your gear and playstyle is different.
also remember a hell of a lot of rng goes into leaderboard placement
Just a couple things I want to comment on from these replies:
1) Seems like you can't get away with defensive gems. If going 6 Wrath/4 IK, it's BotT, Pain Enhancer, and Taeguk all the way. BotT + Taeguk are mandatory, PE helps a lot with trash clears and can be significant or negligible depending on the RG.
2) Saxtris is one of the worst now due to 'bugged' tornadoes.
I have cleared a 53 with both setups wastes+ik and wastes+bk's.
The main question is for higher than 53 is it better with ignore pain with cooldown at weapons and as much as you can cooldown in order to have more time on the wotb skill or better use bk's weapons with damage% and string belt but in this way less time wotb skill on??? Which one do you think will get you further?
they have fixed the issue with the tornadoes now.
In my opinion (and I can't say for sure because I haven't cleared 53 (on time) with 6 Wrath/BK, but I would think getting either 100% uptime on IP + higher uptime on Wrath is better than String, since not every affix is considered melee (and some are melee but aren't reduced by %melee reduction).
And yes I saw they finally fixed nados. That was very annoying.
Yeah, i see what you are saying but in the other hand is that with string you add %damage at both weapons and with ip you lose damage from weapons but you gain cooldown in order to use a little bit more often wotb.
I am a bit confused!
The overall damage output is likely the same over the course of the entire rift, but you also gain more mitigation (more IP uptime) and more CC immunity (more WOTB uptime). If/when I find my other Ancient BK weapon, I'm going to go the CDR route. I DEFINITELY want 100% IP uptime.
@venom - this might be obvious, but keep in mind that the 'double benefit' of attack speed on weapons via Obsidian ring is season 3 only - so if you're playing non-seasons you may or may not want attack speed on weapons (vs. CDR or 10%). Obviously if you're using Obsidian then definitely go for attack speed because Obsidian turns attack speed into CDR basically.
Hey guys, today I swap over to non-season for some fun on my Whirlwind Barb, which I haven't touched since the last patch. I clear G53 with a fun/experimental setup quite easily. 6 Wrath/4 IK was quite strong last patch and I'm going to push a few tiers with it here before switching to either BK/WW or Rend. Enjoy, discuss, and be on the lookout for the next tier!
Hey guys, today I clear G54, still using 6 Wrath/4 IK. Got some pretty good density/mob types. For this tier I went back to a more standard setup including Rend to proc Pain Enhancer and do a bit more damage. Roughly the same clear time. Enjoy, discuss, and be on the lookout for the next tier!
Hey guys, today I clear G55 with ease thanks to a solid rift map and mob type along with a conduit and power pylon for the guardian. Build and gear remain unchanged from the last tier. I will hit a wall in the 60's because this is non-seasonal so I don't have access to Bane of the Stricken, but we'll see how far we can push nonetheless. Enjoy, discuss, and be on the lookout for the next tier!
Hey guys, today I clear G56. No changes over the last tier, but it did take a long longer mainly due to the rift guardian fight and not having the '2 minute' gem (Bane of the Stricken). Enjoy, discuss, and be on the lookout for the next tier!
