Actually, I have a ladder character and I've been able to find set items and uniques MUCH easier than SP. It's like they punish you that way for playing SP, imo. I can't tell you about non-ladder, though.

Yea actually when you make a character they just start you off at 90ish with godly items and already inputted stats and skills so no worries about character evolve.
I mean every guy is the same right since it's all Vita regardless no?
On a serious manner, I don't believe they changed any of the % of drops for Non ladder or ladder. I have played mostly Non ladder and just this season of Ladder and it is all the same. Funny tho, I only played this season because items were actually cheaper on Ladder then non ladder.
I wouldn't say that its necessarily true. On single player I've found a Hoz, several shakos, to many geed charms to count (btw got a 40 mf 1 currently) arm of king leoric, homunculus, and even once I found a bk ring. Also this was all by doing andy runs with around 200 mf.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
You're wrong. There are many elite items that only drop in ladder. Just look at any random elite items page on the arreat summit and you'll find items which are noted "(ladder only)".
In fact, here's a link to just such a random page: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/elite/uaxes.shtml
Nvm, I was looking at the wrong files. So Ivaron is correct, since drop rates are the same, you would see an increased rate of other uniques. However, since a number of elite items now cannot spawn as uniques at all, whenever the game wants to make a berserker axe unique, you'd get a rare instead.
Overall however the change is so minuscule as to not be noticeable, especially not by one players own perception.

The items in bold are very hard finds, extremely powerful, and/or a staple of gameplay on Ladder.

Before anyone asks please read this!
Yes, you can trade for this stuff on Non-Ladder! However, as the Ladder season goes on, people on both Ladder and Non-Ladder quit, occasionally have a mule permanently deleted, mule accounts might become lost, passwords are lost (usually in conjunction with a change in e-mail address), CD keys are banned, and people quit playing- usually without giving away the irreplaceable gear that they received early in the Ladder-to-Non-Ladder reset. These factors all make prices for such items (because of their increasing rarity) incredibly expensive and much harder to get, and until another reset (which, in the past, has been known to be as long as two and a half years) the gear keeps on getting more expensive and harder to find.
The only way it makes a difference if there is more than one unique for that item type when it checks if more than one unique is available. If it fails the check then a failed rare/magic item is created. I forgot which one is for a unique.
Some SP players use mods like PlugY to enable realm/ladder only items.
SP can be played at players 8 the whole time so the chance for no drop is reduced.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Oddly enough when I was rushing two of my friends in a lan game when we came up to Diablo in normal he dropped a kiras guardian. I have no idea if the game gliched or if ladder only uniques are able to drop on lan games.

Ladder-Only items can drop off-line, they are only removed from non-ladder online play.

There are no items that only drop in ladder, only runewords are limited in that way, and they naturally do not come from monster killing.

Which would mean that if you are searching for a specific elite unique item you'll have a higher chance of finding it in non-ladder as the ladder only elite uniques won't drop for you.
Your URL says Djinn Slayer is ladder only. I just found one in Single Player hell level. It's ethereal though
I don't know if that means Djinn Slayer drops in SP or just the ethereal version.
I am very new to this game, running v1.13
PS: i have never played anything other than single player.

Same kinds of rumours have been on since the beginning of this game about Hardcore dropping better items.
