Let me start off by saying I'm not a fan of the surge of polls... But this was a topic specifically that I felt hadn't had much coverage and was curious what other people thought.
I loved the crafted items, although most weren't that useful, the best ones I felt were the caster ones, whether mana steal for the zon... or increases max mana for anyone... or increased mana regen and mana per kill... But the best part was that besides these desirable stats you had a pretty decent chance to get some nice random modifiers added to it. They were usually pretty cost effective, made for great starter items until you got a decent supply of uniques and some times better than some.
I felt they were more or less forgotten about after the initial release of the Expansion (LOD), I think they all got nerfed pretty hard and changed from "any rank coloured gem" to "perfect" form of said gem, but rune words kept getting added and changed, and the Crafted items were left in the dark.
I'm not trying to persuade anyone to vote in favour, I don't believe in bias or hyperbole... Even if everyone agrees with me imo it doesn't change anything. I imagine most of the stuff for D3 has already been decided.
If this is all TLDR then I am just curious on what YOUR opinion is. Did you like them? Why/Why not? Would you like to see them return? Would you like to see them Compete with Uniques/Sets end game?
The poll is straight forward but add a comment if you have the time or care.

in hardcore crafting was the way to go if u were just starting out or if u rather have better gloves than the sorc uniques. str and cast rate were very good.

Yeah I specifically recall using them in my brief foray in Hardcore. Making the mana leech mask for the Zon.
I felt the whole system could have been better if they updated some new recipes and increased their potential power using rarer runes... around the same time as the added rune words.

I never really did a lot of them.. tho I never really played a lot of LOD. But the time I did all the best pvpers at least sorcs were looking for great belts and stuff made with crafting.
I like this more than runewords. Runewords are always the same.. with crafting you could get really good items that were mostly random.

Yeah the random factor always added that much more joy from what you got. This is why I liked rares and was disappointed when they were more or less relegated to leveling up items in LOD

Yeah indeed. There was always the huge excitement when a rare dropped.. you never knew what it could be then u identified it .. either dissappointed or got yourself a huge upgrade or got rich
I imbued 330 lance back in the days with my second baba and traded it for a friend for 18 sojs and 282 +2 baba lance pretty good deal.
I'm curious to hear from the people who voted no, I don't want to tr change your oppinion or attack you or anything, I just want to know why you didn't like them.

I didn't like that much the crafted items, they weren't very powerful and the chances of having something like a pair of gloves that give +skills were pretty thin. I prefer using my pgems to reroll gcs, that way you got a lot chances of getting something good.
I think it could be cool if they came back in D3, but more powerful and harder to craft. Maybe they could even somewhat replace runewords (even if they could still requires some runes lol).
I guess it depends what you were looking for when thinking about them... at end game they were relatively a waste of time, but for a new HC character or ladder character before you have a wealth of uniques, I found them really good to get going.
However I do believe they need to be buffed, so that their base abilities scale and they are useful endgame

Crafting was indeed good for HC and starting out but you had a chance of getting some pretty extraordinary ones with better stats than you could find on anything else. Of course this could take quite a while...
I like the idea, but I think it should be reworked. It should be based on a formula, instead of specific recipes. Like, you should be able to mix any Jewel, Gem, Rune, and item, and get a moderately predicable result.
It doesn't directly relate to crafting (the idea of random powerful items that are not dropped "unique" items is the same) but in my mind it was the D2 Classic itemization that appealed the most to me. I loved it that you could get lucky identifying an absolutely amazing rare item that would be more powerful then the unique items in the game. Lets face it the godly rares were far more "rare" then the "uniques" and each had and individuality that couldn't be matched by a named item.
LoD greatly increased the power of the unique items and in almost all slots they replaced all other items. At that point it was just the % on the unique that differentiated the items.
But it wasn't that obvious to make... You had to search on some d2 related sites to find the recipes, because there was no way you could find any of those. And all of those recipes were actually found when lurking into d2 data files.
Maybe make something like an ingame database of recipes...
Not to repeat myself, but why not use a set of formulas, not recipes, to determine the out come. So you could use any rune, and jewel, any perfect gem, and any item to craft an item?

Yeah I do like this idea. That would be pretty sweet.
I sometimes wish Blizzard would put like a "add your suggestions for XXX" forum up or something, because I wonder if maybe if they saw what some people thought they might be like "oh yeah, thats a good idea we hadn't thought of"

I just hope... theres more play on the random modifiers from rares/crafteds and even minor random mods on uniques/sets like in D2... and would love to see a better implication of the Orange items from D2.
I can't recall how much was said about potential Horodric Cube returning, was there much?

Might have to elaborate on that a bit. I'm not sure I follow?

If your insane, but still sane enough to know it, are you insane or sane?
