Hi,
I have been playing Diablo 2 on and off since it was first launched 10 years ago. I have played many genres of games and so far nothing compares to Diablo 2. I am now in my late 40´s and feel a little embaresed to tell my non-gaming mates that I can stay up all night battling the hordes. Now that Diablo 3 is on its way I have resigned to the fact that I am lost (in bliss). I can honestly say that in my retirement I will have plenty to do on quiet nights at home with Diablo 3 and its expansions.
So my question is to you out there, am I the only one in late 40´s playing the Diablo game?
As long as you're not missing work everyday to play, it doesn't matter. Golfing is a sport that the "majority" of players are 30+, doesnt mean that I don't go play sometimes.
Who cares about age. I'll be 90 telling me grandkids playing there fancy crap games that there missin out on the best game series in the world

Yea. Wonder what 12D would look like They would think I was really old transitioning from a 2d to 3d game lol

I'm 20 and my nieces and nephews (all under 2 years old at the moment), will come to this house playing old and simple games. No way Mister Me (to not give away my name) will make them play the modern crap that most kids play, even when they are older.
I have such a firm objection against the gaming of today that I consider certain modern game a sin. And when you're young, if you like games, you should be playing the best of SNES. And then, the best of N64.
Its not like it'll stop them from going to modern gaming consoles at some point. But its up to the grown up to make sure the children experience all sides of gaming and don't grow up as close minded as most kids these days!
"I'm telling you kids, Diablo was the shit! We could play with VGA resolution, and move in 8 directions! This was back in the day when there was no such thing as a game camera, all graphics were 2D sprites (that means everything is flat) and can only be viewed from one direction. The viewing direction used in Diablo was called isometric."
- Mhm...
"Then, a few years later, D2! I mean, gawd, I played that game for years! They doubled the amount of directions you could walk in! I'm not kidding, 16 directions!"
- Wow, 16 directions...
"And what came a while later if not Lord of Destruction, the expansion pack. The resolution limit was cranked up to 800x600, that is a big deal because this was back in the day when pixels were big enough to be seen."
- W... wait, what is a pixel?
"Finally, 10 years after the release of Diablo, D3... D3... We finally got to play the game in 3 dimensions! It had all the latest technology an..."
- So you could view the game from other directions now?
"...uhm no, but that is because we wanted to be nostalgic and actually preferred to view the game like that."
- Strange
"So... wanna play it with me?"
- Nah, I just bought WoW: The Empire of Murlocs, it will add a ninth continent and the inverted vampire class for the earthworm race!
"...riight... so have I told you about the first WoW?"
- Bye grandpa...
I'm sure thats exactly how it will happen lol Althouhg it will most likley be WoW 20 Empire of Murlocs.

When i'm 100 i'll be playing the latest blizzard game because it'll be the shit. I also agree that kids shouldn't start playing these shitty new FPS that everyone hopping on, because really there is no story no real anything thats good everything in some way or another is flawed in every console game, or at least the majority of console games. I vote to ban all Console games, they destroyed true games.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Yes I've played games since Pong was a new game and started with Amiga games for computers. Some good some bad I remember
when Doom was the big new thing and then they started releasing 17" monitors and Space Quest introduced "Shadows on charactors" now that was amazing.
But nothing is as good as Diablo series especially D2/LOD played this 8 years everyday maybe up to 10 hours and still suk at it.....but just waiting for D3 so I can continue on my quests.
In the mean time I'm stuck with all these other so-so games and clones
I might be the Grandfathergamer of Diablo or GOD for short
add me if you want to^^

Hi
im 10 years old
I played call of duty black ops last week but then
my friend showed me diablo 2.At first I said
"meh, looks crap" but then I played it and managed
to do my homework(how awesome is that!?)
I played with my friend and we beat the game 2 or 3 times
I realised how many crap games there are like CoDBO
and showed diablo to my friend then he showed
diablo 2 to his friend and so on
and then pokemon black and white came out.
Getting on this thread probably ruined my day. I remember when I was like... 16 wasting away in front of Diablo 2 like a crack addict - all those years ago. It really was something new back then and i've yet to find anything comparable. And believe me that is * a ton * of different games. I'm turning 26 in October.
This thread got me thinking about how much Diablo has actually been apart of my life, though, and it's really funny. I remember my uncle showing me Diablo when it first came out and I ran out and rented it for the playstation. Me and a buddy of mine couldn't peel our faces off the TV, until I realized it was on the PC and I could play multi player. Then, a few years later Diablo II. I literally didn't sleep for some days farming that game to hell. That was back when SOJ rings were traded like high runes are now. Oh, and yes, I *still* play D2 periodically.
Anyway it's been a nice little blast from the past guys, now I have to get back to work.

including diablo series! Thumbs up for all those old gamers out there. More old gamers
eventually, could make game developers, make less colorful games, and more like d1 style. <-Just My Idea.
Even thow I am going to be 25 next year, I can still see my self, playing games till I kick the bucket
