Yeah!! I just finished my goal of beating D2 through Hell setting pure SP. I used a wind druid. It feels much more rewarding than doing it with a hammerdin and in fact, most parts were easier. I plan on writing up a build on the wiki tomorrow for anyone else who would like to try to beat the game on SP.

Gear:
Wep - unique islestrike twin axe +2 druid skills
Armor - Unique duriel's shell (loved the cannot be frozen)
shield - unique Lidless Wall +1 all skills
helm - lore runeword +1 all skills
rings - 2x nagelring for the magic find
gloves - unique Chance Guards magic find
boots - rare magic find
amulet - rare +50 mana
belt - magic (it was crap, never got anything better)

Way to go, dude. Not sure I'd ever have the patience to SP Hell again.

I never passed Normal Act 3 on single player. :/

For real? I beat the whole game on single player before I even touched the multiplayer. Of course multiplayer wasn't as common back then as it is now.

I was planning on it but after finally beating the guardians, I don't know if I could ever do it again. If I try it again it will be with a bone necro.

I did it once with a barb (of course) but I didn't have any runewords only set, unique etc. pieces.
I danced around when I finally did it. Rubbed it in my then bf's face because he was still struggling through hell with his sorc.

That was first and last time I did it in SP.

After normal on sp I got bored but on hc I got to the end of A3 in nm.

Normal is the only level that's actually fun. Or should I say level 1-30. The games gets less interesting the more powerful you get. Then you just get overpowered and it sucks.

I suggest you try it again. Things may have changed. In nightmare, I definitely felt OP'd. I farmed Baal 20x in an hour. But hell was another story. It was a constant struggle.

I played SP for years before I even started multiplayer. Once I started playing multiplayer I never went back. Got about half way through hell diff with a summon mancer. Good job Scyber!

I completed hell SP with almost all chars(1-3 builds) except with the paladin...who I never liked. And I tried only one build with the assassin. I think it was a trapsin.

Toughest was summon druid (had to mule items over to that char..because it was kind of unconventional). That was incredibly hard. Died loads of times but it was crazy fun.

Second most difficult was a meteorb sorc. The Ancients on hell. That's all. I spent...a good 25 minutes to kill them. No joke.

I've played little MP in comparison. Some LAN games and a few ventures over battlenet and that was it.

Grats. The first time i finished SP Hell was also with a wind druid. I think he and trapsin are the greatest singleplayer solos (at least the less item dependent ones).

In the moment i'm finishing it with summon necro. He's also very good. The only problem is that you need a strong merc to kill stuff for you until you raise your army. Once created, you have very low chances of being failing. But sometimes it's pretty slow cause you have to use decripfy instead of amplify or else monster eat your summons alive. So w/o Beast kill stuff in the last 2 acts may take a while lol.

I played up until hell act 1 den at which point I realized my cold sorc won't cut it when it has no possible way of taking out that unique spectral hit zombie at the end of the den with his cold immune gayness :verymad:

Congrats. I just gave up when I reached that point with my Meteorb sorc
