So i was thinking about making a mana shield sorc. But ive never made one, so i asked around and basicly now i know what i should put into my skill tree. But i have no idea what to use for equipment, and stat distribution.
So basicly im going to be a mana shield sorc using lightning as primary attack.
-what equipment should i wear?
and
-how should i spend my stat points?
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
you should also tell us the realm ur on and if your ladder or not as being on non ladder can give you some extremely crazy gear for a ES sorc and can alter how you distribute your stats dramatically
I said basicly im going to use mana shield and lighting as my primary attack
lmao sorry I must of not noticed XD
Heres my old Skill and item build(at least what I remember of it)
20 Telekinesis
XX Energy Shield
20 Lightning
20 Lightning Mastery
20 Nova or Charged Bolt(your choice)
1 Warmth
1 Teleport
The reason I dont say max ES is because if you have a lot of prebuff gear like +9ES memory then maxing it isnt the best idea since you will need every skill point you can get to up your damage in lightning synergies
Gear
Helm: Griffons(nothing else comes close to this but if you cant even afford a low one use shako)
Amulet: Fletch/Storm Circlet are by far the best sorc ammys you can get but maras works to
Wep: hoto is generally the best tho wizzy is good if you need the resist
Shield: Spirit with 35FCR
Belt: Arach
Gloves: Frosties give crazy mana but magefist works if you need the FCR to hit another breakpoint
Rings: 2 soj is obviously the best but if you need more FCR then crazy ass FCR rings with good mods also work
Boots: Depends on your realm and if ur on ladder or not....Grim spurs for east NL if on ladder then go with treks or silks
Wep Switch: CTA/spirit
Inventory: 9x Lite GCS, Anni, Torch, if your on east NL then get a ton of 7015s even if they take the place of a light gc or 2
Prebuff gear: 3 to light skills circlet, +9ES memory, ES ormus, sojs(if using FCR rings)
stats
STR: only enough for gear
DEX: none
VIT: Rest of your stats after you have the right amount of energy you want
ENG: depends on your preference...100-200 seems to be a good number but I cant recall what most people put into it
you should also tell us the realm ur on and if your ladder or not as being on non ladder can give you some extremely crazy gear for a ES sorc and can alter how you distribute your stats dramatically
Im on US east, ladder, and any gear would be greatly appreciated, my acc is

Ok well hopefully my build in my above post helps you...but ignor the fletch/scirc for ammy....dont bother looking for 7015s and same for grim spurs :P...the rest is still good and can be gotten on ladder

Thanks for the help, ill try what you said up above, also i already put 10 in ES 'oops' but ill still be very close to your recommendations.
Your looking to get 10-12 in ES even as a light sorc to hit 90-95% ES. Thats the goal.
Also id suggest going max block, cause ES doesn't count DR or Res so without block your gonna take alot of unneeded hits. ES builds are primarily best when you take a hit or 2 and recover the lost mana, not to sit there and tank. Of course if you are going PvM style, max block is always the best choice.
Also lightning is the hardest Sorc spell to aim and has slowest casting delay beyond blizz which you can easily namelock. So might wanna consider FB as it is more newb friendly and you can easily spray and pray. Best thing about light is hardest to sorb and it can 1 hit KO often, but when it hits low...it hits low.
Light is easily absorbed. Tgods, wisp rings, stormspike stiletto or lightsabre phaseblade and if you're on a druid the spiritkeeper helm. Can't remember the amount of sorb on the PB or Stiletto but with those other items you can 74 light sorb. For dueling purposes blizz and FB/meteor are the hardest to sorb. Light is easily taken out of the equation. I fought a druid with those items and he just stood there tanking me. I think I was actually healing him as fast as I could damage him. If I had an infinity poleaxe it might have changed the story but....

Anything is easily absorbed but the gear required to hit that sorb for light cripples almost any dueler, beyond a barb.
Fb < Spurs , dwarf, noko...not that bad of a trade off to make FB do pretty much nothing.
Blizz<Thawings and a 160 shield and blizz is pretty much cake.
Light requires almost a full character to take the damage and especially in team duels that means your dead.
LOL I forgot to put in a armor for the build I gave him...ops :P.....skins for FCR....COH if you dont want max FCR...you could also work in a lit ormus if your damage is really lacking but your resist will suffer

I agree they can all be absorbed. I find light the easiest to sorb. It does cripple a bit of your cast rate and damage output. Absorbing any element does that though. I prefer TGods belt over others simply because of the added strength. I do a bit less dmg and cast a tad slower but I have more life and it doesn't hamper my ability to kill people. It is the elite players that you have to worry about and let's face it, not everyone is elite. I know I certainly am not. 1 v 1 this isn't a problem as your survivability is much greater. Team duels adds a whole new level of strategy to the mix. I'm just splitting hairs here because I am certain you meant Rising Sun instead of Nokozan Relic.

your fine...many ppl do max it simply to avoid prebuffing since it can be a pain in duels if u happen to die a lot
