Well I agree that it was awesome but nowhere near perfect. My main complaints of D2:LoD:
runewords
class specific equipment
uniques/runewords being the best endgame gear instead of rares
excessive immunities in hell
synergies
the lack of built in transfer/mule system
gold having almost no use
act 4 still didn't feel complete
excessive potion chugging
enemies were either a massive threat or none at all(no middle ground)
stats didn't feel like they added any customization/didn't change how each character played much
the Assassin and Druid were pretty lame compared to the original 5 classes
again, most of those are good things, others just flat out wrong. try hardcore thats gets rid of all that repetitiveness real quick..
1. the lack of built in transfer/mule system
i really didnt want to discuss, just wanted to list but: one thing that bothered me, why the fuck do you want a newbie friendly economy? immunities make the game a lil more challenging

DIABLO = DEVIL its not supposed to be a nice game autostats are rediclous lack of pots is not welcome if it aint broke dont fix it! (diablo2)
- Cookie cutter builds
- No transfer system
- Experimental builds were often ill-fated
- Due to synergies, which ruined nearly all build experimentation
- Strength is useless, except for using items
- Same goes for dex
- Energy is damn near entirely useless, cept for mana shield builds
- Runewords took precedence over all other items
- Blue items were basically useless
- As were the majority of rares
- Drop rates were unbearably low for certain runes, thus came duping
- Lack of a decent PvP system
- Due to the characters being unbalanced
- Hammerdins, being the prime example
- Assassins had a serious lack of power
- Many skills were never used (Grim ward, attract)
- Repetitive map generation
- Too easy to hack
- Gems were fucking useless
- Enigma
- Gold was useless
- Under-rewarding gamble system
- Too easy to rush

well, ive build good ghosts sins, there very good in pvp. although VERY VERY EXXPENSIVE, not more than hammerdin of course but still very expensive

Working with adobe and/or java is like pushing a paper clip against a building and expecting it to move...
Exactly, making a PvP sin was much less viable, and much more expensive than making other builds. Builds should be relatively similar in strength, and overall cost.
Hence the lack of class balance I mentioned.

I'd say what was worse than them being ill-fated was even just the possibility that they might be ill-fated. Takes a lot of experimenting and time invested to see if one works. I did several revisions of my melee Sin before being somewhat satisfied.

Not for my Sin build. In fact, Dex pretty much replaces Vit for her. Not that I wanna get into a character build discussion here though.
i still do not see any problems with those things that you listed... except for in very few instances hacks, where you can drop other players and make them drop all equip.. which i might add were very few and far between
1. the lack of built in transfer/mule system
2. 2% of hacks
all vit = another way to seperate the best from the avg players.
not everyones going to be good at every game

theres nothing wrong with any of the ideas in LOD but in how some of them were executed. For example people go on and on about how runewords ruined the game(I dont see how honestly there just like uniques..) for being to powerful compared to a lot of other gear but if they were toned down a bit it would of been fine.

I've heard a lot of problems but to me, LoD is a sick game. The reason why everyone has a problem with it is because its been overplayed. You play for two months, make a hammerdin, a sorc, a barb and theres pretty much no where to go. Levelling to 99 isnt cool at all. But think about the first first time you EVER played it. The first time you played the sin and druid. Don't tell me it wasn't fun. D2 LoD was not meant to be an MMORP, the reason for which gold is only useful in single player. The game isnt even about killing monsters using awesome spells anymore. Its only about getting godly gear, which is why everyone has a problem with it

Very true. I wouldn't have many of the complaints I do regarding the game had I not spent so much time playing it. Similarly, some of my complaints are changes brought by the expansion and/or patches.

Well, they were both very disappointing for me. The druid was fun for 2 or 3 acts I guess. I played at least partway into nightmare with each but they never really clicked with me. But yeah, they were fun the first time I played and went through act 1 normal.

...gold is only useful in single player.
Nah, I didn't think it wasn't really all that useful in single player either.
D2 is/was quite possibly my favorite game but there is a heck of a lot of things that needed improving in my opinion. Of course if I wasn't so crazy about the game and only played it through a few times, I probably wouldn't have noticed or thought much of the things that I would like improved.
I assume D3 will fix some of the problems, retain some and develop new ones. As long as they fix more problems than they create I will be quite happy.
Synergies is whats wrong with D2. I want my tri-elemental sorc back!
Synergies were introduced into D2 to fix a lot of problems with skill balance...it was one of the best things they did....in some cases tho it screwed over some skills and made other OP but that could of easily been dealt with but they never did
Perhaps it balanced some things, but it certainly killed tons of possible builds.
yeah it did but it also made a bunch possible.....I still have no idea why they didnt just buff some skills so they were viable again like vengeance, fire wall, martial arts, and a bunch of other just so we could have a little more variability in the game. W/o synergies tho we would have paladins going around with maxed out holy shield, hammers, smite, and an aura or 2........would you really want that? lol
Sure, because they wouldn't be as powerful anymore without their synergies.
The D2 way to make weak skill useful is to turn them into synergies, but it looks like if the D3 way is going to be powerful skills all the way. I'm happy that they did it because it should guarantee that no skills are useless.
Chances are without synergies those sills would be buffed to do similar if not the exact same damage as they do now, or then almost all skills would be rendered useless in hell
the main reason synergies were introduced in the first place is so that toons didnt have a ton of insane spells all maxed out in the first place making them very OP

Battle not with monsters lest you become one.

rushing.... dont do it if you dont like it, its going to happen in every game and does.. personally i think its awsome.. story = only good 1 time.
teleport... blizz realized how awsome it was so they gave to to every char, not a problem.
runewords... not meant for everyone to have them, but still enough to give some diversity. with the exception of hammer pals.
rares were fair at best, the game was way too easy.. for christs sake, my bow zon would own with griz armor on
pvp.... was awsome, try some team duels or just dont die in seconds...
