Just bought a new router for the household yesterday, Belkin N600. "Upgrading" from another older Belkin wireless router. The old router seemed to work well with the game, I wouldn't get lag spikes at all, and gameplay was smooth. This new router on the other hand is giving me lag spikes about every 5 minutes. I do not know if this is due to the router being dual band or if i don't have the right channels open.
I was wondering if anyone has run into this and has a solution. I would go back to the old one in a heartbeat if it weren't for my roommate needing the better range and speed of the new one.
Selfless bump. Wondering if anyone has an answer. Would still continue to play, but I play HC and the prospect of consistent 5-10 second lag spikes isn't a fun one.
Would you run speedtest.net and pingtest.net and post results please?
Also, did you try running a hardline into the router?
I would post the results through urls, but i don't have permission to post them.
speedtest, is 39.54 down, 4.22 up, 15 second ping
pingtest is line quality A, MOS 4.39, 17ms ping, 4ms jitter
all on a wireless connection, the game plays very very well when i dont get a lag spike, but i get a lag spike about every 5 minutes for 5 to 10 seconds.
Ran a hardline to the router, gameplay is awesome with no lag spikes, shitty part is that the router is in my roommates room on the other side of the house. I would have though that with a 50 meg dl/5 meg ul i wouldnt have a problem. just tried to play again, Played through act 3 in nm on HC and was able to clear it but had about 10 spikes. if i was playing SC i dont think i would care. but the 5 seconds of "ohh my shit" scare me in HC
No spikes when hardwired, router in the other room due to ease of access. I could move it to the front room i suppose, but i hate running CAT6 cable, and don't understand why a 3 year old router would work better. Wondering if it is just some ports i don't have open for the game to access...
