Can you please limit polls to only the polls thread or only allow people who have been here for a long time or are most active the opportunity to create a poll. These forums are filled with them all they are is a one word question with yes or no answers and it says discuss. there stupid. remove them.
We are working on the poll situation and hope to have a solution by the end of this upcoming weekend.
In the meantime, I encourage those of you that are making polls left and right to carefully consider why and if a poll is even needed in your thread.
For example, there is absolutely no need for a poll with YES and NO being the only options. If your thread is discussing a topic that requires a yes or no response, then people can just reply with their response in their own posts.
What these excessive polls are doing is bumping other threads without polls to the bottom while a poll, in order to get bumped back to the top of the threads, only needs to be voted on. Get it? In other words, it's unfair to those who are responsible enough not to excessively create polls or create polls at all and it floods the forums and makes the entire site more difficult to moderate.
As of late, I've been automatically closing polls when I find them. I will leave the thread open, but the polls are going to be closed until we come up with a solution for them. Because the lot of you are not proving to be responsible enough not to abuse this feature of the forums.
I personally do not have the powers to do so. Unless you're referring to just completely deleting all the polls already made, which I won't do because some of the polls actually contain worthwhile discussion.
It requires an admin though to make changes to how polls are created and who can create them. I have deleted entire polls though because many of them were just totally useless.
So if you're asking me to just delete all existing polls (which I don't think you actually are) then the answer is no. If you're asking me to disable poll creation for the time being, then the answer is I don't have the power to do that, but soon enough the admins and mods will have come to a decision on how to deal with the excessive poll problem.
Hey, on this note, is it possible to lock a thread at the same time that the poll verdict is reached (I.E. when timed polls are finished their preset time and stop receiving votes)? This would keep some poll threads that have been dead for a while from getting bumped back up.

That's a pretty good idea actually. I'll make a note of that for our meeting this weekend.
You need a structure for new polls as well, title should be like...
Game Title: Questiion
eg. Diablo 3: Should there really be guild support?
As for polls being locked, that would be pretty dumb in my opinion, people who have been unable to come on during the week might miss a chance to post in the polls thread. Plus the more activity the site gets the better!
The problem is the polls that some random person digs up from 5 months ago and votes/leaves a comment, even the the poll/thread is dead and the discussion is (in most cases) void because of new information. Like the "Will Diablo 3 Be AN MMO"-type threads that still get resurrected. The question is now void since it isn't an MMO, and it takes the place of a possibly more important discussion as the highlighted thread viewable from the forum list.
