As the topic title suggests, i was thinking that since MMORPGs are becoming a new trend in PC gaming maybe we should have an MMO section of the forums where people can write down what they think about the games they tested or ask some questions about MMORPGs they havent tried yet.
I'm poor right now and can't afford to buy any new games. Can you recommend any kind that you just play off the internet for free? Do those exist even?
Guild wars is free right? as is neverwinter nights.
when the site gets bigger then prehaps a MMO forum will be made, until then the General forum will have to do.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
oh that free. i thought the question was free to play after you purchase the game.
darkthrone is a web mmorpg its free.

Maplestory, but IMO it's pretty boring and gets old soon. www.nexon.net
Adventure Quest and Dragon Fable aren't MMO's per se. You play on your own, but some events (like wars and clans) are collaborative efforts from all players. They're pretty fun and give you something to do for a short itme when you're bored. www.battleon.com (Adventuer Quest) www.dragonfable.com (Dragon Fable
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

I've been playing one called Rappelz for a while. It's completely free, even to download and play. The way they make money is from their cash shop where you purchase special items with real money.
Geez, is there a single MMO that is not cartoon or anime oriented?
Lineage 2 isnt cartoon oriented. I wouldnt think of EverQuest 2 as cartoonish either. I'll make myself busy with Lord of the Rings Online in 10 days tho, even though it looks pretty much like WoW its more for grown people and group play from what some friends of mine tell me (they got the pre-order version).

They are. Lineage has those anime-looking female dark elves, and everquest looks cartoonish in general.
I would honestly like an MMORPG where the only setting is a bar. And you walk around the bar buying drinks, eating peanuts, bobbing your head as the band plays, then there be mini games like pool, darts, bar fights, things like that. I guess it would be like the Sims but there would be a lot more you could do since it's all just taking place in a bar anyway.

Send the idea to a gaming company. Myself, I would never play that game, but that's just me. I need something more.

I actually had a conversation with someone who played lots of WoW. And I was asking them if my class could be bartender. And if I could just run a tavern. He told me that no, I can't.
why would someone "play" a bar game and not go to a real bar?
i prefer fantasy setting for the games i play. Never played life simulators either, whenever i play i want to escape from real life, not "simulate" one.

But what if, theoretically speaking, the simulation was better than real life?
