I would be forwarding this to admin as well as i think it's quite an important QOL for the site.

A lot of people theorycraft and create builds just when ptr starts, and throughout the whole ptr.

As Bagstone mentioned, there is a cutoff date in builds section, and it's a date when newest patch hits LIVE server.

While this is necessary action, it IMMIDIATELY devaluates all the hard work that peple do for whole ptr (the 2.4.2 WIP builds still under "2.4.1" patch).

"Older" builds that were created during ptr have no chance to make it to the frontpage, no matter how good they were, or how many upvotes they had. Well, unless they are recreated again...The builds which will make it to the frontpage widget will most likely be there for whole season (and the quality of these builds does not matter). So this is not really fair to all people who are unable to upvote "freshly duplicated" builds with an army of followers.

Now i want to suggest to set a CUTOFF DATE at the start of PTR, and not at the launch of patch on live server.

THose who are interested will still keep their builds up to date throughout all ptr. But this immidiately removes the unnecessary duplicating and also rewards all people who worked hard throughout ptr.

Will there be a cut-off for season 8 builds? Since patch is the same i see no reason to do it. Just wanted to confirm.

I don't understand what you're saying, man. Season7 is the same patch as season 8. All season7 builds will work in season 8. No new tweaks to skills or items will be introduced.

Usually there's a "technical" cut-off date in builds section when new patch arrives. To separate and prevent builds from previous patch to be edited and transition into newer patch with all the upvotes. So basically at the beginning of new season(and patch) everyone had to start from scratch even if builds were identical. But this is first season without a patch so i wondered it there will be a cut-off or not.

There should not be, since it is the same patch. Season 7 builds are just as effective or ineffective as season 8

Hah! And cut-off happened. Patch 2.4.2a lol. It even does not even exist...

That was pretty weird move.
