I know a lot of people have said they felt drops overall just felt higher on seasonal characters. Obvisously Blizzard has never outright said they are, but they have a history of using droprate to push us towards the content they want us to play...rifts anyone? I certainly feel I get more more drops in seasons than non-season, what do others think?
P.S. If your reply is just going to be "DERP RNG is RNG" save your time and don't bother.
I feel it's more likely the fact on non-season you need so little compared to what you need on season that it feels like there are more drops on season.
I disagree, my Wiz is geared in crap non-season and been playing him forever. Of course there are tons of other factors too...season character probably has more time on it since loot 2.0 changes. So it really is hard to tell, but I had an M6 DH in seasons within just a few days, same with seasons barb and Wiz.

That's all it takes now on non-season to, perhaps your right and it's just because this may be the first time people are seeing just how easy it is to gear from scratch now since the drop chance changes. When I geared alts on non-season I would usually go from nothing to full set in half a day via farming on main + spending shards on alt.
I boosted a friend on non ladder earlier today, right now he is happily soloing T6 rifts with his marauder set.
It really is easy to gear now. It has nothing to do with ladders
and yet other people play 5-6 hours a day and not get a single marauder piece.
On seasons as non season alike. The post is about seasons being "faster" or "easier" to gear on than non ladder. Which is not the case, it is equally easy..
In the current state of the game, you will be able to farm T6 solo after a couple of days playing.. I have done it on all my season players, and non season players alike. It's fast and easy, even if some unlucky people exists, the vast majority is wading in loot.
I mean, i am the kind of guy that spends as much time boosting people as he does farming, and everyone, without exception, season or no, will have at least 4 set piece before the evening is over. Guaranteed
Guaranteed. Yet ive spent 3 days with atleast 4000 shards spent, minimum. WIthout a single piece of the firebirds set. more or less nonstop greater rifts and regular rifts.
The only thing that is guaranteed in diablo. Is that nothing is guaranteed.

RNG is
I would say it in a slightly less conspiracy theory way, but I agree. I suspect there is very little RNG in D3s RNG. There is so much tweaking and weighting of certain drops.
Or has everyone just forgotten the "login drop". That legendary you ALWAYS got within 15 minutes of logging in assuming you were actually playing. Now the wannebe "experts" just derp about RNG, but there were multiple threads and multiple comments on it...then one day the :login drop" just went away.
Blizzard mucks with timers and droprates more than most people can possibly imagine. That's why sudden patterns pop up across many different players and just as quickly go away.
That's why I honestly think the "RNG is RNG" crowd is a special kind of stupid...all while trying to appear smart.
Drops are, without a doubt, better in Seasons than they have been in recent game memory.
The reason for this is pretty obvious: They adjusted the set item drop rates in 2.0.6 and also allowed Kadala to drop almost everything. Many of us put in hundreds (thousands?) of hours pre-2.0.6 and so we had to deal with extremely low drop rates for set pieces. Indeed, my non-seasonal DH is still looking for another piece or two of marauder just for an introductory M6 build. My seasonal DH, however, is down to two or three final items to complete my build (Tasker and Theo and a better bow or amulet).
So, it all depends on whether or not you were playing before 2.0.6. If you were, then yes, things are better now. If you weren't, then they're practically the same.

This. I have gotten more set pieces in a lot less time on my Seasonal character than I ever did in the early days of D3.
But I have also gotten more set pieces in a lot less time on my non-Seasonal character in recent time than I did in the early days of D3.
It's nothing to do with Seasonal vs. non-Seasonal and everything to do with the multiple, publicly announced drop rate buffs.

Agreed, this is what I'd put my money on.
We're all just dealing with the perception issues. I for one stopped playing every day since the PTR came out, and didn't dive right back in until the patch came out. Outcome? Better drop rates by far, which when compared to my shitty non season guy who doesn't even have a full set yet, makes me feel like seasons get the better RNG drop rates. BUT, I'm not comparing them both with the same drop rates.
I think that in non-season play people tend to end up at a place where it is really had to replace one item at a time. Synergies or other factors make it hard to upgrade at times. This isn't necessarily because the gear people have is best in slot but rather RNG has led them down the path to the gear they have and moving forward is sometimes difficult.
In season play this is much less of an issue due to the fact that you just don't have to work your way out of an awkward gearing phase to better gear. With the advent of legendary gems people are able to more quickly gear up all around and that leads to stronger play. Getting there sometimes seems faster in season because you have less gear decisions on the way to where you want to go.
Obviously some people get bad luck and are stuck until that one gear piece drops but overall I think the odds are the same between season and non-season.
In my opinion, both sides have the same drop rates w/e.
It's just that when 2.1 launched, with all the buffs and "possible" nerfs to mobs, T6 has never been easier to attain. Plus the fact that, almost everyone knows what to gear for and how to do it. It also helped that Adventure mode is automatically unlocked. Cache rewards is ridiculously buffed, Organs as well. factor in good RNG vs bad RNG
Also we get ramaladni's gift which can spell a couple torments/ grift levels difference.
I started a WD 2nd day after S1 went live, same time one of my friends did the same, after we got to 70 around the same day, I went on to almost no drops, no upgrade, and him, with the same time spent playing, got SMK and Ice climbers the next day in about 3 hours of rifts...so yeah imo drops are better in seasons compared to non-season, otherwise I can't explain how this happened. :|
It's called RNG
Took me a monthto finish zuni in season, while my friend finished FB with a week of hitting 70. It's all about how lucky you get.
There was a drop rate change on the set pieces around 2.1 which is just before the seasons started. So yes, you're seeing more people with full sets. In addition to that, once you have a full set, it becomes MUCH easier to farm higher difficulty levels, which obviously results in more Legendary find chances.
There's no mysterious force behind season drop rates. As others have pointed out in this thread, those that ignored the seasons and continued to play non-season are experiencing the same thing.

Got a laugh out of that.
