Just curious how you guys farm goblins to try and get the Goblin Realm? I'm really low on cash in Seasons, so i would love to know your route or goblin-farming tactic if you're willing to share.
Start the highest Difficulty you are comfortable with > Run through :
Act 1
Southern Highlands (check the cave of the moon clan)
Northern Highlands
Leoric's Hunting grounds
Festering Woods
Halls of Agony lvl 2
ACT 3
Bridge of Korsik
Tower of the damned lvl 1
The Core of Arreat
Thats what iam doing on my crusader. Its fast because I only stop for goblins. If you are a crusader and have a swiftmount flail, you are golden Pop Akkarat champion and ride through the mobs. On Goblin switch your weapon and kill him.
I ran routes similar to Azri and I'm being totally honest when I say I killed over 270 goblins before I found the Vault. It took 3 and a half days of farming to find it so hang in there and keep searching and you will eventually have that elusive portal pop open
I just spam ran Core of Arreat -- somewhere between 20-30% chance for a goblin in my runs but each run is less than a minute because it's one linear stretch to search so you can jam out a lot or runs quickly. I was incredibly unlucky until then but brute force got the thing to spawn. Once you get it once, you don't ever really need it again - the gem is the gift that keeps on giving.

^ So this. ^
It's fun to find another, even okay maybe to get another gem, but realistically, you're going to have one go to farming class toon, and even if you're limited on toons, simply a build in your stash.
@nd time I found Vault I had my gem on and I was bummed, more so as my wife was wanting one ans she wasn't home yet. Third time she was and I was on a character that wasn't using one. So, yeah I have two, but I really only use the one and I don't look for Vaults anymore. If I find one, great, but no biggie really anymore.
Just do these runs outlined above, run through 'em, and look in the nooks n crannies, you'll get it. I popped into a zone once, and was fixing to run on and there was a goblin immediately to my right almost off screen, almost missed it as they don't move unless spooked. Biggest thing is to really look.
There are a lot of posts here that are definitely places that have goblins, however they take too much time to search because they include either a random location (Caves) or have a random maze-esque map (Cathedral, Halls 2, etc). If you really are serious about farming efficiently, then you need a quick, small, straightforward map. My run is:
1) Core of Arreat (Act 3)- This is a straight line, no muss, no fuss, just run through as fast as you can. 2) Tower of the damned 1 (Act 3) - Just a big circle, again, no side corridors, no dead ends. 3) Northern Highlands (Act 1) - This is a very small area that you can basically just run a circle around the edge of the map and a quick jaunt through the middle.
Repeating these three is the fastest way. If you have some good mobility, the whole thing shouldn't take you more than a couple minutes. Sure, you can teleport to other locations and run around, and yeah, they'll probably have a goblin, but I guarantee you can do all three of these locations faster than one Halls 2, and each area is only likely to have 1 chance at a goblin, so your best bet to find goblins quickly is to search the small straightforward maps.
Oh, also, if you care to, there are communities for goblin farming that you can join where people post when they've found a goblin and three lucky players join in for the kill. It's very fast and you can make some good online friends if that's your bag.
was doing some bounties with a PUG team on T1 at around 3-4am (couldn't even keep my eyes open)
one of the players was doing a bounty on dalgur oasis in one of the dungeons, escorting this guy and i ran with him
the others were all doing crap all in town
we just randomly killed a goblin and the portal spawned.
one of the other players joined us towards the end and they just killed Greed without letting it drop the goblins off its back.
that pissed me off slightly, but was just too happy to have found it
maybe its how things have worked out for me in all games that involve RNG
when you want something the game would refuse to give it to you, when you aren't thinking about it and working for something else, the game would give you what you were hunting in the first place
people have already given some pretty solid advice. I just found my portal to the vault this morning in the core of arreat. i was just looping around Act 1 - Northern Highland, then porting to Core of Arreat. both small maps, pretty easy to clear. I was doing Tower of the Cursed for a bit, but it seemed like just sticking to Northern Highland and Core of Arreat gave me more goblins per hour.
I had decided to run northern highlands exclusively. On my second run, I found a TG and he spawned the portal. Insane luck.
I also, the day before, got a perfectly rolled Marauder's pants with my first gamble.
Anyway Northern Highlands seems to have a good spawn rate, like 75+% for at least one to spawn according to one video on youtube (and I got at least 1 in both of my two runs).
Just run Core of Arreat (act3) and then Royal crypts (act1, before skeleton king) These are the best 2 places in the game. Straight forward. Minimal spot to look and rather high chance of spawning a gob.
Rinse repeat. There is no faster way to farm goblin rifts and i just did my 9th vault run today after patch. And i havent been farming much.
After trying many of the areas suggested in this thread, I settled for the following route : core of arreat, tower of the damned 1/2, tower of the cursed 1/2, and caverns of aranae to check the event at the beginning.
Speedruns with a DH running with Danetta's and the Tactical Advantage passive.

Or I guess you could just check maps like fields of misery and be miserable with life.
Diablo 3 is a huge numbers game. If you can't bother to take notes or just remember stuff as you play, then good luck.
