Seasons were moderately entertaining for around 2 hours, but I can't feel any motivation to play beyond getting to level 70 in Hardcore, which I've done already. What is the incentive to play seasons over standard now, considering the fact that you effectively have a clone of your standard character sans gear?
Those of you still playing, how do you you feel?
What do you think Blizz need to change in order to make seasons interesting next time around? If it stays the same, I can't see many none 'top players/people who play the game for entertainment reasons' jumping in again. I was thinking about some kind of handicap based system, but that's not fun really. How can they make it fun?
This is not a rant, I love Diablo, but seasons have been shoddily implemented and added practically zero fun to the game. I mean, what were your memorable moments?
They hotfixed the OP No-Kill Quests for the next season, making it (hopefully) impossible to reach 70 in less than two hours.
Maybe the fact that my season mage got better Equip in two days than my main mage since RoS release could be the winning factor as to why I still play it.
Within 2 days already looking for same slot better roll... Fresh start feel wore of, became just a lower paragon/poorer/weaker version of my non-season character with no benefits from being in the season so i've stopped.
Game needs more player-interaction in order to create a point for seasons, i'm talking d2s baal/trist/cow/tomb runs, Trading, PvP, freedom to let players do there own stuff, better gear curve etc. Until then a reset does nothing.
This is what I mean, the season was effectively over within hours of starting as 'top players' had filled all the leader boards and everyone else was just doing a fresh run for literally no point other than to have no gold and awful gear.
Seasonal PVP could definitely improve the situation, as that would add a longer term objective. Clan trading could also exist as long as you had to be in the clan prior to starting the season.

This is something people said since seasons were announced though it's like doing a hard-reset in a single player game when the state of every other player has 0 effect on your game a reset is pointless. Even the non-season is more competitive than the season imo because most people have reletively balanced gear and the higher ups are more based on skill than RNG.
D2 had ladders because eventually the trade market would become stagnant and PvP would be everyone in nigma so it would reset revitalizing PvP/Trading. Also the gear curve in D2 was much better, going through multiple stages from building an MF character > mid-pvp > key farmer > smiter > hdmin > mlvl 85 > OP dudes. This is why stats like MF existed to allow a gear set that would be considered BiS for a character but not OP meaning it didn't have to be insanely rare and thus creating a curve where finding mid-rarity items weren't just instant junk so even though you only get a HR once in a blue moon that's ok because the mega-rare arn't the only viable items.
D3 has seasons because people said they wouldn't buy the game unless it had them, everything Blizz put into the game is to try and get the few that haven't bought it to buy it... They gain nothing from you, who has already bought the game and don't have the same sort of loyalty and care they used to have for there games/customers. End of the day, Blizzard arn't dumb and they know that without player-interaction seasons are pointless... But seasons were easy to implement and got some quick sales compared to the much larger tasks the game needs to actually be improved like overhauling the items to allow for trading and better gear curve, re-balancing the content to allow for multiple farm routes (bosses, bounties, campaign, ubers, events), making the game more free-roam to allow players to create new and exiting ways to play, overhauling the PvP system... and much more.
- no additional slots for this (half are playing chars, half mules)
- there's no comparison to D2 seasons (ladder), where you got much more benefits from playing, e.g. Runes, runewords, uniques, sets, etc..
- starting over again with 0 can be fun, but then you would just simply, as you said, another clones of your "mains", for them just being turned over to non season after it ends, so you will have to delete it again.
- ladders are all about Grifts .. there should be more comparison and competition between players, like PvP, tournaments or something like an event based competition where random ppl can join games for killing some random uber versions of bosses together, also as single player
- the duration of seasons ... what is it now, 3 months? no point in even starting to farm or achieve something.. it's just too little time, where some ppl just get around paragon 50, where other guys grinding 24/7 have already 200+ and therefore its clear that they are doing better in GRifts, so there's no point for me playing for ladder just to see myself around rank #500 or something like that.
- as Porpoh mentioned, u find same stuff all over again .. there should be season exclusive recepies, in order to attract people, where these recepies disappear when season ends (would also appreciate it with seasonal legs to not roll over to N-S)
so for me: time waste... i better collect stuff for my toons to try different builds, for just having fun playing them
I started Seasons with a WD. Of course, it got SUPER repetitive because I play WD as my current main. I got to around 50 and stopped. I tried again with a Monk, my former main, and because of the changes, it felt different enough that I enjoyed it, but again, I stopped around 50 because I have already 70 monk and couldn't justify continuing on.
I should have leveled a class that I haven't gotten to 70 yet. I'm sure that would have kept me interested even though I'm not blown away by any of the Seasonal legendary gear.

lol.. you kids.
Blizzard doesn't add what people are asking for.. it's because they're greedy pricks that don't care about their players, only money.
Blizzard DO add what people are asking for.. and THAT'S because they're greedy pricks that don't care about their players, only money.
They should steal a few things from Path of Exile.
1. Add powerful season only legendaries + set items.
2. Add interesting gameplay modifiers for seasons only (Same or different for hardcore). Examples could be new (harder) affixes that roll on elite packs, killing mobs in general will fill an invisible (Perhaps shorter) bar like rifts, and summon a boss when it is filled, or perhaps something else that could be interesting.
3. Find a way to bring back trading, by allowing legendary trading or adding new kinds of currencies that players can trade. Without an economy to reset, seasons will never make much sense.
4. Maybe something more, though the first 3 should help out a lot.
1+2 would force everyone into this game mode, and there are many who don't like HC and seasons.
3 would kill the game.
No thanks :-) If you like that, then play PoE. There's no reason to make all games the same, in my opinion.
Well, I think they allready made alot of good changes, and seasons revived the game for me
memorable moments, a few so far, but on the other side, we are also jus 4 days into the season
The same subject u bring up, was a subject i brought up 2-3 months ago, about avg joe being burned out from seasons really fast, but it diddnt seem a big a problem as i made it out to be in the beginning, however its still sad to see your feeling like this allready.
I cant really say what would make it better for you or me, cause i really enjoy seasons as mentioned before, but i hope you "refind" the fun in d3 again
I really like standard 2.1, and find it lots of fun. I enjoy the game, Diablo has been my go to game since Diablo 1 and I have played each permutation periodically since release. I would class myself as a passionate enthusiast with little interest in leaderboards so I guess I'm not really the target consumer of ladders, it surved its purpose well for me to level a hardcore character so it was fun, I just can't see the long term appeal.
Honestly it doesn't bother me that much, I would just have liked to see a bit more depth. There were no interesting threads to read, so I decided to make one.
For me seasons were the perfect opportunity to start a new class (I only have a witch doctor on live). I started fresh with a new monk with 3 friends who also rerolled a class they didnt play before and we're having a great time. Also being able to rape t6 and complete 30+ greater rifts after 3 days of playing feels great I'm having a lot of fun, thats for sure!
Seasons do not appeal to me much, however I will play the first two seasons. I have a pretty geared out WD on non-season, so making an intelligence class feels silly. I made a Barb for the season, and will gear him as much as possible. If I got bored, I will roll a crusader too. Next season, I will make a DH/monk.
That way, I will have 1 of every primary stat user fairly powerful, and that is enough seasons for me.
I don't know how someone can roll the same class they play non-season on season, that seems futile.

I already had 70's in each class, I guess that killed a lot of potential fun for me. I'm sure this applies to some of the other players who have done the same. But, it was an oportunity to start hardcore again after my 60 DH died in pre ROS. I couldn't have stomached a softcore player though.
I would say, Blizzard achieved exactly what they wanted to with these seasons. They're entirely optional, so a lot of players enjoy them while a lot of other players enjoy their old chars. That's a pro, forcing nobody into either of the game modes. The con however is, that this splits the community in half. I'm not sure if that is better than making the season so awesome that everybody feels obliged to participate.
I personally like a fresh start every now and then, but a) I don't have the spare time now that I had 10 years ago and It doesn't feel so fresh when it doesn't affect everyone.
On Sunday i managed to get ranked on the solo demonhunter seasonal ladder for Grifts, that felt cool, felt like i'd achieved something (postion 880 or there abouts). However come Monday night, when i manage to climb up another level i'm well out of the ranks, making it to level 21 felt like a feat, but the leading demonhunters are now on level 38 with 300 paragon levels.
There's simply noway i can compete for a position on the leaderboards anymore, so there seems little point to continue playing my seasonal character.
Did anyone think that it would be possible to compete on the leaderboards without 60+ hr/week playtime? People be crazy.
I love it simply because of the fresh start, and when a season begins it doesn't feel "right" playing standard, so basically its mostly a psychological need that blizz managed to create. But If seasons do not last more than 3-4 months I doubt I'll play the next seasons. And even if they reach 6 months I'm not sure I'll dive into it.
They really need to add more seasonal legendaries, that would make me jump into every single season. They doesn't need to be uber powerful, just nice alts to already existing items, at least make them so they open 1 new build for each class.
They added some, but most of them are meh..
I only started a seasonal Crusader to get the new shield for a faster transfer to my main when the season ends. Well, the shield dropped from Malth when I killed him at 70. Not the greatest rolls, so I might do some rifts and let Kadala help me find a better one. For now, however, I'm back to my main.
Seasons are fun because I have again a sense of progression. I have to manage my resources. I have to farm up. I'm not sitting on numerous paragon levels to kick start my fresh lvl70 char. I don't have practically infinite gold for enchanting purposes. I don't have a stash filled with items for my new char. Everything is fresh. That is the point of seasons for me. This is the point of the game - to progress. Grinding Paragon Levels with a fully decked, filthy rich character isn't the point of this game.
So really the problem here is the lack of an endgame, you just don't know how to express yourself properly
No one in their right mind wants to play THE SAME SHIT for the XXX'th time for a CHANCE at some new ("better" lol debatable) legendaries, especially when all the crap I get is the crap I already have....and oh look, another epic 2h fucking hammer for my season DH, that never gets old, especially since I've been through this countless times before
