I've been holding off on jumping back into D3 with the new patch on the horizon. I know there is no official date or anything like that but someone out there must have some vague idea as to when it's going to come out. 2 weeks? 2 months?
If anyone has some kind of idea i would like to hear it - sans the normal bullshit please.
I haven't been on the PTR - no real idea how bad it is bug wise or anything like that, but from what Zeh said early Sept seems about on par then.
I just don't want to see checking back here every coupleafew days for a month and having waited on baited breath the entire time. I think i'll keep in mind the end of Aug or early Sept for when i should really start chomping at the bit!
There is sooooooo much stuff that needs to be done, so much that needs to be balanced. Some items aren't even implemented yet (WD seasonal item, new monk seasonal item, new wizard Grand Vizier); many skill changes that are due aren't implemented yet (wizard Meteor, all of monk changes), balancing is basically not there (it's "play DH or go home"). On top of that they already said they want to do a few (!) "mini-seasons" on PTR to make sure that seasons work well on live. The fact that the first mini-season on PTR wasn't resetted yet is definitely a good sign to tell us that there aren't too many bugs, but still... *after* any significant implementation of new content (items, skills, etc) there will always be a time span of at least 1-2 weeks where all those changes are monitored and evaluated (it's not like PTR testers find all the bugs on day 1). And since there is at least one big PTR content patch coming up (monk revamp) I see absolutely zero chance for a 2.1 release in August. A very optimistic guess would be early September. Realistic estimate would probably be end of September. If things go wrong or they keep changing and tweaking stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until October.
This is definitely an unusually long PTR, but you have to keep in mind what's at stake. Many players were eagerly waiting for seasons almost since release, and it's been over 2 years. If they screw this up, a significant proportion of the playerbase might be gone - forever. They cannot rush this and release seasons with some kind of glitch that allows people to bypass content and jump into Greater Rift 100 on week 1. If that happens, an entire season (which is supposed to last for months) is over. That's why this PTR will still be around for a while.
yes there is a lot of stuff to fix, but if they are 3 people indentifying stuff to fix and another 5 fixing it they could release it in a week. but alas blizzard has piss poor time management.... Its like they know their game is dead and do it in their off time. to their games that are real cash cows.
add 3-5 people for the art, and they could add shit in no time. Funny how Path of Exile realses MASSIVE content every little while with like 1% of the money blizzard has.
Yea - i've been wicked spoiled by Marvel Heroes lately. They have their issues and their bugs but they are coming out with new content, literally every single week.
I play Marvel Heroes for the casual fun but i liked to play D3 for when i wanted something a bit more challenging and bloody. If i jump back in D3 now though... i dunno... i kinda feel like i'm missing something since i know the next big patch is just going to add in more stuff. It's an odd feeling, and one i wouldn't have if they put things out more then twice a year.
