dissapointing. at least for wizards. no point in playing ladder if you dont care about the "fresh start" thing, wich is pointless without an econemy / trading like in d2
While you may feel that way, I have to point out that the fresh start feeling isn't pointless without an economy, and is in fact the exact reason why I can't wait for ladders.

Still I hoped for at least one item of each class specific item. For wizard it is again an item which does something to teleport. Sure it's a fun wand, but nothing really special, unless they will change a couple of Teleport runes. This wand basicly only works with the Calamity rune (you could argue for Safe Passage). Let's hope more interesting items will be made before 2.1 goes live.
There is an item for every class, they just haven't finished the WD one yet. And yes they aren't super uber powerful, which is a good thing.
Also, many of the old legendaries without special affixes are getting special affixes that both season and non season players can find, which is again a good thing.
The incentive to keep playing the game period is loot, of which Blizzard will be constantly adding more, and updating the old plain ones. Seasons are there for people to have a fresh start with or without friends, and compete for the leaderboards.
I know it is still very early in the proces, but so far i'm really dissapointed. They ought to have put in (some of) the best and most interesting items now. I fthey have done so already, then i guess that interesting has a very wide definition. However i hope and think that more interesting items will come to seasons...right Bliz?
This was expected. The fact that the new legendaries are tied to the ladder system exclusively, implied that players opposed to the idea of playing seasons would be left in the dirt. By ensuring that the new items are "less desirable", these players can now contently continue to play normal mode.
The ladders are for people who enjoy a fresh start and (somehow) play competitively. I for one love the idea of starting over. I don't think the new legendaries should be the main incentive for people to play seasons, and Blizzard seems to agree on that point.

Finally a ladder player who isn't looking for Blizzard to give them "ePeen mode."
Kudos to you for playing ladders because you like the system, not because you need loot to motivate you.
Feeling the need for extra incentives to play ladder is completely normal. In D2 the only times i played ladder was when i started over with some friends. I mainly played NL and it was hard for me to convince myself that ladder is worth playing.
The new legendaries are a great approach to incentivizing players into participating in seasons and i don't see how that would be considred as epeen mode.
So a person who wants to play ladder just because he likes to has a more valid reason to do so? I don't understand where you are getting this from. Since when did personal preference become something you can quantify and compare? Personally i think that it's a waste of time to play ladder if there's no real reward like items or whatnot.
I've always been a non ladder player (still got all my nl chars on eu) and i don't think that it's wrong to expect Blizzard to introduce more and more new items as we go.
Edit: About the items themselves, i don't think they are all garbage. the barb sword might be nice, the crusader shield looks interesting, the wand will make wiz viable for speed farming like bounties on normal or w/e... Anyway some of the items are nice.
Yeah, so many players wanted to seasons for competition and a fresh start.... oh wait, as expected they wanted new stuff to loot. Surely some of the new legendaries are on the meh side and should be looked, but expecting stuff like Marauder, Earthquake was delusional.
Blizzard is trying to not force anyone into season if they don't want to, smartly, and they can't put overpowered stuff there. As said above, they don't want nomal players to be left in the dirt.
Kudos to Rantallion for his thoughts, he nailed the situation perfectly. I'm just glad i will be able to have a fresh start once in a while to play with friends soon, as i always did with Diablo 2.
The only item I am really disappointed in is Alabaster gloves. Monk need gloves slot for one of the two sets, Sunwuko or Thousand storms, while the other classes have received legendaries in weapon/shield slot, monk would need to sacrifice one of the "set slots" for the effect we already have an items for (in a way), Inna set. I feel that those are newbie gloves, because if played careful, you can recreate that effect without much effort, while the other items have unique properties you can not have otherwise.

You don't have to wait until ladders. Just deleted all your characters and have a fresh start
I think the legendaries are decent. The bow with the bolo skill could help in builds that high on kiting or if you want to group up the enemies to increase your sentry damage.

hm. srsly? another 8 crap legendaries?

But I'm glad its that way. As I've and other's have said before, the incentive to play ladder should be ladder itself (as in hardcore).
