Firebird's Finery
Has been renamed Elemental bird's Finery
(6) Set Bonus
Has been redesigned
Dealing Elemental damage causes the enemy to take the same amount
of damage over 3 seconds, stacking up to 3000% weapon damage per second.
After reaching the 3000% cap the enemy will take damage until they die.
With this change firebird becomes awesome for all elements and wizards are no longer forced into fire, such a simple fix that i can't really understand why the devs didn't went that route.
With cindercoat, wow, easy to get magefists, etc... fire is clearly superior and everyone wanting to progress in higher GRifts is forced to go fire,
i'm fine with those items, but now another entire set is focused on fire, lightning and cold wizards need some love and to some extent arcane.
This proposed change from Firebird to Elemental bird would bring a much needed build diversity to the wizard, any feedback is appreciated as well as possible changes to it, so that wizards can be something besides fire for greater rifts.
PS: i'm not asking for a buff to the set,
The damage overtime effect would not exceed the 3000% cap.
You could remain full fire and nothing would change for you,
this change would simply make other elements able to take advantage of the set.
I think the firebird's set is good for fire. I play an arcane AT build, and would like to see a different set. Maybe a new set where the 6 piece bonus is "All your skills deal the same elemental damage as your highest % element." You could see things like a thunder blizzard, frost mammoth hydra, arcane shock shield, etc.
Obviously u didn't read it right.... i didn't ask for a buff to the set, it would remain 3000% not 15000% (wizards only have 4 elements anyway so it would be 12000%)
The damage overtime effect would not exceed the 3000% cap.
Gutting the niche and flavour? you could remain full fire and nothing would change for you, this change would simply make other elements able to take advantage of the set...
So not only did you vote no based on wrong assumptions as you also left a really unproductive comment, since seasons already offer more uniques so far and maybe sets in the future, please refrain from those comments when stating why you voted wtv you did.
EDIT: added some of this info to OP.

1) The implied reading of the change is that elements are tracked separately.
2) That change is in fact gutting the niche (fire focused set) and flavour (set about phoenixes).
All you want is to water down teh set to be BiS for every wizard rather than BiS for fire (which is debatable as far as the forums appear to say). Rather than homogenize an existing set pitch ideas for season sets.
Also DoT is not the "flavour" for non-Fire non-Poison non-Physical damage sources. (Burn, poison, bleed respectively)
People are voting no with no reasonable explanation besides "i want a new set not firebird change"
Well i would have alot better ideas for new sets, but this topic is not about a new set,
cause let's be honest those are not comming anytime soon, so i'll ask you again to post only constructive feedback.
OT: It's a simple change that would not hurt anyone and would help a great deal all the wizards who do not like fire,
and saying the set is fire focused is even more dumb, because of the name? phoenix's? where? all we get is a lousy meteor.
Maybe it's a limitation of mine but i can't really understand why someone would oppose this change.

Here's my no,and why.
It IS a pheonix based graphic, it is a fire based graphic. IF I had a lightning ot cold based wizard why in hell would I want it to LOOK like the firebirds set? Forget function. As for a mammoth cold hyra, the existing graphics/animations are fire, so either they change all that, or your fire hyra looks likeits using fire even if it is cold.
How about, and this might be off the wall, they actually make a couple more sets addressing other elements VISUALLY as well as FUNCTUALLY?
SO there's my no, and my why, and honestly if it's not part of the question as to the solution, maybe it should be.
Well, I don't think they should make Firebird anything other than fire. There's Tal and Vyr for that different element stuff. I mean, Tal even has multiple element boosters in the bonuses.Making Firebird multiple element would ruin it's uniqueness in that it focuses on a single element. If Firebird is changed it'd be the same as those other sets.
So instead of doing that with Firebird, how about make Tal or Vyr better? I think either set would shine if Blizz implements a passive/leg/w.e that grants max element damage to all elements, like OWE did for resists. That way, you won't feel penalized for not focusing on a single element. Just my two cents.
Also, I believe there was a blue post saying they wanted Firebird to themed around fire, so I don't think they will change it anytime soon.
I would say that this is a good idea. As it stands now my cold wiz is just plain bad. I make a WD and within a few hours of gearing I can clear content 100x easier than my wiz. Forcing me to roll fire is quite pathetic on blizzards part, but whats new? It has been the same crap since day 1. Vanilla was all about wotb barbs and the cm wiz. Go with the cookie cutter build or good luck with t6/ubers/end game. Sad, but true.
Wizards are the worst class in the game. Blizzard can't forgive us for CM, they're like a bitter x-girlfriend. Jump ship and roll Crusader or Witch Doctor, they're better in EVERY way.

Exactly, that's the main reason i did propose a change to an existing set instead of creating a new one,
so that non-fire wizards can actually hope to go anywhere near fire wizards in GRifts.

Except we've been promised season legendaries. So there's no reason not to request new stuff rather than water down existing stuff.

That would actually be an awesome 5pc bonus for tal'rasha

For every set they make (4 items) people get 4 less legendarys that could be gamechanging (WOH, FOH, Rimeheart, MM, etc.) You forget that they only have limited time ressources, if they want to make like 50x legendarys and 5 sets (1 for each class) that are atleast 70 items that have to be designed (not only item self but the art so it can be displayed ingame and is "unique")
And blizz is MORE than happy to just rehash old models and textures as they've shown repeatedly on legendaries. I'd like to see a set for each class a season to go wit ha theme in each season. Make the sets gamechanging on the level of legendaries. Then rework old legendaries to make them gamechanging each season. Throw in a handful of seaon legends and it all works out.
Once we have sets across a bunch of different themes THEN come back to complain at me we need more legendaries and not more sets.
Blizzard has resources. They have enough employees to get it working. I'd rather see new stuff than gutting old stuff. I'd rather see new sets than more legendaries any day.

And while we wait for the "cold/lightning wtv season" we are stuck with fire for GRifts...
The point is that wizards are atm pigeonholed into fire and 2.1 does not seem to solve that, in fact it makes it even worse.

But my point is they don't have to fix that by watering down a set theme. They can fix it by amping up the gamechanging legendaries you so vehemently want to see. Hell we haven't even seen all the legendary effects that have been datamined, or even the effects that are still being tested in house.
Look at angerl hair braid. Offical PTR said it was gonna unlock all runes on punish IIRC. Have yet to see the effect in PTR and people have found the belt. We don't know if the fire disparity has been settled yet conceptually in house. We only know what we've seen so far.
So instead of pitching changes to Firebird's pitch changes to the legends that don't have legend effects. they need it far more, and you can stack them in different slots.

Alot of them are getting 5 primaries which is actually better than most legendary affixes.
I agree that we haven't seen the final 2.1 PTR Build yet, but do you honestly think they will introduce something that will make lightning/cold and even arcane wizards good enough to compete with fire?
I really don't, hence my sugestion, i would even prefer if tal'rasha had a 5pc bonus similar to what Oromashu suggested:
All your elemental damage is equal to your highest elemental damage.
That would open alot of options and would be an easy thing to implement, but then all 4pc sets would have to be buffed to 5 etc etc...

firebird is nice as it is, no need to create more imbaness. other sets have also fixed things like Jade,Raiment of storms, Leapquake barb, Raekor, Vyrs etc..
Didn't one of the devs say in a podcast that fire would ALWAYS be the highest damage element? Because cold freezes and lightning stuns etc...So I guess it all depends on the style you want to play. Big damage? Go fire. Crowd control/mitigation? Go something else. D3 has a lot play styles available, all of them have benefits and short comings, and it does not support any kind of "god" mode where-in the gameplay mechanics become an afterthought.
Firebirds is big damage and ONLY fire because you're left wide open to all attacks. If I could sit back and freeze everything and THEN drop 3000% weapon damage on them I'd barely have to think to make my way through the game. If you ask me that's no fun; which is why I vote No and will happily whine to blizzard in the official forums about gettibg some Cold focused sets out (for any class).
I like the idea of trying to make other elements "viable" but I don't think this is the ticket.
I vehemently oppose Oromashu's Tal suggestion because it's contrary to Tal's implied purpose. Tal's should be tweaked to reward NOT stacking one damage type (or any damage type at all) not to make stacking a damage type more powerful.
