For those who watched the previous video about Rift It Forward community optimization for free blood shards, today I show how long it takes to acquire 500 blood shards without using any rift key fragments. On average, you can expect to get about 1500-2000/hr with this method once you get into good 'channels'. In this video I talk more about optimizing this method, efficiency vs. doing normal bounties and joining all games, provide tips on how to join games quickly, explain why it's a self-correcting system, and join games with a timer running for proof.
I like what the RiF commun does but i see this as a how to leech vid.. along the lines . although i mostly run all my rifts with 3 members and you are forced to open for me (or i spam your btag in chat for all to seeeeee.... )
I always advertise my game as lowest open, but the thing is I only run T6 games, and every love a 100+ easy bloodshards. I always get people ranging from 1 paragons to 600 paragons. I don't like the last in open, that sounds like punishing someone for their slow connection or w/e. The lowest paragon seems more fair to me. I'm not punishing lower paragon people, some will say that but hey it's free 100 bloodshards from me every 5 - 8 mins (that is how long it takes me to run a t6 game). I feel like people with higher paragon has earn it in some aspect for me because they have devoted a lot of time to the game. I know people out there that can't play all day, but I'm not punishing them i promise.
This guy is exactly the kind of "people" who this community is NOT for
Because you and a few other butthurt players exist who don't understand how the system works - despite me explaining it SEVERAL times - I'll give you a few things to consider:
1) If 'everyone' did this nothing would change. 3 players in a lowest opens games = 1 player opens, regardless of what the levels are. I have no way of determining who is in the game being created. Same thing for highest opens games.
2) You could just as easily 'game' this system as a Paragon 0 by joining 'highest opens' games, but you don't see anyone complaining about that?
3) You could just as easily 'game' this system by having a fast computer and not being the last person to join the 'last in' games. Is that unfair to people with slower computers?
4) I don't create the games, I join them. If you're going to complain, complain about the people making the games.
5) This is not an efficient system. You could easily get a lot more shards/hr by joining all games. Realistically, it's probably more efficient to do that and take the time difference to farm normal bounties. I will be making a video on that in the future.
6) No one 'loses' in the system, except for jealous players like yourself. The runners still get free rifts.
Please think critically. Your criticism is in no way constructive. I would be happy to discuss the pros/cons of 'using' the system a certain way.
inb4 blizzard fix Rift it forward "mechanic" By making you having to do % of the rift or even be there when it opens. Which is kinda needed. farming shards like this is a cheap almost exploitative way to get easy gear imo. And have no place in a game like diablo. Where loot is THE ONY reason to keep playing
If only rifts cost 4 fragments and every time you open a rift all 4 players put in one rift fragments each.
Rifts should simply cost X fragments per player so that going solo doesn't mean you're, theoretically, paying up to 4x as much to open your rifts. Would also completely curb frag leeching and people trying to join games close to the guardian just for blood shards. Portal open. In order to enter it you need to pay X fragments. End of story.

Oh please. "And have no place in a game like diablo." Get over yourself. Just because YOU don't like the idea of someone else getting the same shinnies as you do, doesn't mean Blizzard should do anything to "fix" this. Don't get me wrong, I think they will, because they can't have a community they didn't directly create be the gold standard, and because of people like you on the forums. This is hardly the "super fast track easy gear" that you make it out to be. It's still RNG. I can't tell you how many times I've spent 500 shards (either gathered from RiF or from doing Rifts myself and having others open for me) and gotten exactly nothing.
Just because you like punishing yourself doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm guessing you were probably one of the 1% that wanted the anniversary buff removed.

Reason i want this out is people Leeching mike meathead there in video. That is not how this game is suppose to be played.
Let me make it this way: Why cant you just simply make 4 man party and clear rifts from start to end? Slay monsters and hope for loot instead of sitting in menu and joining other peoples games, leeching shards?
How about you let everyone decide for themselves what they do with the content that they have paid for
Exactly.
"Reason I want this out ... That is not how this game is suppose to be played."
Says who? You? So now you get to decide how everyone else is supposed to play the game. Worry about yourself. People like you in the community are the main thing that make me want to stop playing altogether. Not the RiF community, the Diablo community. If someone wants to leech games all day, who cares, fine. I guess they won't join my rifts. If they join a game of mine and don't open, I block them and move on, they'll never get another rift from me. Why don't I open a rift with 4 people? Because I have one RL friend that plays and I don't want to take the chance going into a public game or even within a community and end up with a d-bag like you in my game. If I want to RiF, I join games, and I'm always ready to open or I wouldn't join in the first place. If I want to run rifts, I open the first one and get people to open them from that point as I clear them. OH NOES THOSE PEOPLE GOT FREE SHARDS! Yeah, and I got a fresh rift without having to spend any keystones. Am I not supposed to play the game this way? Because you said so? Oh lawdy lawd, Glowpipe doesn't like how I'm playing the game, better SHUT THIS S#IT DOWN FOREVER.
How about you worry about you, and you let everyone else worry about them. Typical entitlement attitude, these things are mine and you can't have these things, and if you can have these things you have to work harder than me for them, and if you found a an easier way to get these things than I did it I'm telling mom / the cops / the principal / the press / etc.
I fail to see how the mindset that leads to leeching isn't a form of entitlement....
I want something, but I don't want to pay for it.
Sounds exactly like entitlement to me. Funny how angry teenagers on the internet can twist that around so that the leech is a paragon of virtue and people talking bad about him are horrible gub'ment-moochers.

1) It's not up to you to decide how the game is 'supposed' to be played. You paid for your copy, play it how you want. I paid for my copy, I'll play it how I want.
2) Every time there are 4 players in a rift, RIF group or not, 3 other players are technically leeching. If there's an agreed-upon rotation and 4 games are played at a time, then it's equal. Otherwise any time there are games with 4 players and not in multiples of 4, someone is leeching. So what's your point?
On that note, I have money invested in mutual funds. I make money while I sleep. I guess I leech interest rates from those people who work at those companies and I get to share the profits? Please ...
"Last open" is so abused I never enter one, and I know a lot of people doing 3 man waiting for a victim to pay for their rift. They lose on speed, but they never pay for a rift after the first one.
I... Wait... What? Do you know what RiF is? That's the entire point of the whole damn system. Joiners gets quick blood shards, runners opens one rift and then gets an infinite amount of new rifts without having to pay fragments. Sure, it's douchey to state "last in" when they're 3, but as someone who has been doing this extensively for the past week on EU, I've never had that happen yet. It's always "1 spot, you open".
To give some stats, I've spent the past week doing this, getting about 30K shards that I've spent trying to get a Wand of Woh (fruitlessly, I might add).
After crafting well over 130 aughild helms trying to get a proper one (current has the bare minimum rolls to be useable and can't get another int/vit/socket/crit chance one), I ran out of veiled crystals, so I decided to start trying to finish off some items from the 5-shard list to get more veileds (15 per 1H sucks). In one afternoon today I got (of noteable items):
An ice climbers that was an upgrade to my current (rarest boots) while searching for Vyr's boots.
Vyr's boots.
3x Vyr's pants.
Pox Faulds (shitty ones, sadly).
Hexing pants (was the goal, for when I someday get WoW).
Vyr's gloves.
Multiple firebirds pieces I didn't save (apart from a leg+offhand for WoW build).
yes, I essentially got an entire vyr's set in an afternoon spamming blood shards with this, and I spent maybe 100 keys. At paragon 450-460, I enter low ones, and last ones if I see the msg actually pop up on screen. If I ever enter ones that has a decent chance of me opening (high, or the dreaded "1 spot" ones) they're usually T6, or atleast T5, in which case fuck it, best yield.
Lots of fail in this thread, I'm not sure everyone understands the point of the rift it forward community. The point isn't getting shards while paying no keys for it as if you have come up or scammed the system. The point is simply to get a fast boss kill and shards, that's it, you go in ASSUMING you will have to pay and if you do it's no big deal. There's no "strategy" like only joining low or mid or high, if I get in a game and get my kill and shards, pay or not it's a success. Rift keys are not some rare commodity athat are prized and valuable, you can get tons of keys in an hour of split bounty farming. So these vids showing ways to "optimize" rift it forward are really not optimizing anything since the goal isn't to get free shards, it's just to get fast shards. I simply send a request to every game that pops up, I don't care if I have to open or not, most of the time I dont open but sometimes I do and I could really care less.
Lol the funniest are the people who say a 3 man group posting "last one in pays" is some kind of scam. It's completely not and it's the EXACT same thing as saying "1 spot, you open.". Either way your group gets a rift opened for them and the joiner gets a kill and shards fast, win win. its not like people avoid "you open" games, they fill in 1 second just as fast as any other. There's no trickery or clever manipulation. Pay or not, you simply get a boss kill and shards quickly, that's it, period, end of story.
Thisis nothing against the OP, he can play how he wants. It's more for certain replays in the thread. if saving his precious rift keys are the goal, have a ball, no one will care or feel cheated as long as SOMEONE opens the rift.
Sorry if this is a dunce question but can someone tell me the command to join the rift it forward channel? I tried /join rift it forward /join riftitforward and joinriftitforward but I had no luck.
2: Now wait a second? So i am in 4 man party with my clanmates or community. I open rift, we start it, clear all the mobs together to summon rift boss, we kill it and collect loot. Now someone else opens and we do this so long that everyone have opened rift once. Then it just starts all over again from start. Now how are people in my party leeching? They are playing this game (like i descriped it earlier) with me, killing mobs so we can achieve our goal (rift boss)
It would be leeching if someone was just sitting inside keep/camp what ever.
The leeching which you accused me of (getting blood shards without using key fragments) is the exact same as the leeching of someone in any 4 man party where there aren't multiples of 4 games.
Example (all 4 man groups):
5 games = one player opens 2 rifts, the others only open 1.
7 games = everyone opens 2 rifts except for 1 player.
3 games = one player doesn't open any rifts.
So in any 4 man group, unless you do 4, 8, 12, 16, etc games, SOMEONE will get FREE shards WITHOUT using key fragments.
This is basic math.
I attempted to explain why your claim of unfairness in my 'optimizing' RIF (which isn't optimal for shards/hour anyway) is unfounded, but no matter what you don't seem to get it, so I'll just stop here.
Lol the funniest are the people who say a 3 man group posting "last one in pays" is some kind of scam. It's completely not and it's the EXACT same thing as saying "1 spot, you open.".
No, it's not. Guess what, that's why those people actually do NOT say "you pay". "Last one opens" implis there is a chance you do not pay, which is plain scamming in this case. And I have no problem joining a "1 spot you open" because people are honest and upfront, and am not really short on keys either. It's all about the intent.
No crap, but this is not a "you get free blood shards" community. It's a "someone gets to open a new rift for a free boss and shards" community. When I run with anyone beyond myself, I'll often just say "last in opens" because then I have to type less. I don't have to explain there are 2 slots, and lowest PLVL of the joiners openers, etc.
Also, you ARE the last to join, you're just an ass for thinking you should be able to game the system and make yourself less likely to open. Your chance of opening the rift is anywhere from 33% to 100%. I don't owe you any more information than that. Want to join?
But honestly, please keep trying such tactics. It makes it really easy for people who don't care if they pay or not (Which is truly in the spirit of the channel, IMO) like myself to just right-click-> request invite to someone as I'm reading it, thus getting in before someone screening 100% of the time.
People seem to lack the understanding of this community. There is no "big bad leecher", there are people who run and people who open. The rift clearers dont really give a shit about who opens the rift, aslong as someone opens the rift for them. It's a win-win situation where runners dont lose fragments because they enjoy the game by running rifts and openers collect shards quickly. I agree that after 2.0.5 and torment-only legendaries from kadala (+ increased blooshards from t2+) has made getting gear too fast, my mate ran 30mins of RiF for the first time and he got the last 3 pieces of set he needed for pretty much BiS.
Anyway, you're saying Mikhail is a "leecher", no, he just has high paragon and thus doesnt need to open almost any rifts at all. I think "lowest opens" is the most reasonable system, because this is how the runner gets most benefit (imagine 3x paragon level 80 guys killing a t6 boss). Not too many people can solo a t6 boss fast with 4 peeps in the group... I would rather have 3 Mikhails in my group, in the end one of the three always "loses".
Also I think that lower paragon peeps should go and farm their gear normally like every paragonlevel 500 guy alrdy has (for hundreds of hours), so I think its only reasonable that they keep opening the rifts.
Exactly. People want equal rewards for less work, aka welfare system. It's not surprising, but it won't happen.
Lol the funniest are the people who say a 3 man group posting "last one in pays" is some kind of scam. It's completely not and it's the EXACT same thing as saying "1 spot, you open.".
Lets take an average solo runner, he opens a rift runs to the boss then advertises
Last one in opens and sticks to it and last one in see's they are last in -All Good
Last one in opens but chooses someone who was not last in for what ever reason (slow net, slow ui update, did not see who connected) - Problem
Last one in opens and the last in does not see that they where last in (slow net, slow ui update, did not see who connected) - Problem
Now lets take an average solo runner, he opens a rift runs to the boss then advertises
High Paragon opens - Highest paragon joiner see's they are opening and they open -All Good
Mid Paragon opens - Middle paragon joiner see's they are opening and they open - All Good
Lowest Paragon opens - Lowest Paragon joiner see's they are opening and they open - All Good
Now we look at the Three man groups that advertise for a opener
Last one in opens - has no idea they are joining a three man group - Not always a problem, but seen it cause issue's
You open - Know that you will be opening the rift - All Good
as you can see, the only way that is certain not to cause a problem with openers is to state either Low, Mid, High Paragon when there are two ore more open slots, or You open if you are a three man team looking for an opener.
Last-in still works in my opinion. It's up to the game host to specify who opens in EVERY game (except the 'you open' games, but even there people ask).

What? This makes no sense?
So Mikhail is allowed to just run other peoples rifts for free because he have played this game more than someone else? What kind of logic is that? As long as he only running those rifts and killing boss, not opening them at all he is leeching.
"The rift clearers dont really give a shit about who opens the rift, aslong as someone opens the rift for them."
What is that shit? "I dont care who opens rift, just gimme fast bloodshards and make new rift peasant!" seriously..
"Also I think that lower paragon peeps should go and farm their gear normally like every paragonlevel 500 guy alrdy has (for hundreds of hours), so I think its only reasonable that they keep opening the rifts."
Wth? Why is it reasonable that new players have to waste their keys, do all the hard work and people who have more experience can just collect shards? Isn't it suppose to go other way? People with more experience helping new people to get gear faster? This just makes me think more that this community is cancer and it should be cured...
What kind of logic is it that someone who has dedicated less time to the game should benefit just as much as someone who has dedicated more time? Another welfare supporter I see.
New players 'do all the hard work', eh? Guess what genius, every 500, 600, 700 paragon level player was a new player who 'did all the hard work' at one point. Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion, but the fact is that the community works great, regardless of how YOU feel about it, and is growing. So, thousands of people disagree with your notion of this 'cancer'.

I do think 'last in' when there are 3 clan members is soft-scamming. Whenever we do RIF runs in my clan, we usually 3 man T6 and always say 'T6 you open'. Most people (myself included) will gladly pay for a T6 RG.
