saw this, and I'm copy/pasting it from the Blizzard with Grimiku's response...
"We are currently working on some different ways to help streamline the process of picking up, storing, and using crafting resources. The result is that a lot of the crafting materials will no longer be stored in your stash, and that space will be freed up for other things. I'll quote one of my previous posts to give you a little more details on the subject.
All crafting materials would be moved to a currency-style storage in the UI. Think something similar to Blood Shards.
All crafting materials would become auto pickup, except for LEGENDARY crafting material. (Legendary crafting material would still be automatically stored as a currency, but players must click on it to pick it up.)
All crafters would pull crafting materials from this storage area for recipes.
Crafting materials that the player doesn’t currently own would appear in grey text with a 0 counter.
Players could mouse over the icons of all crafting material to get the full tooltip of the item. This includes greyed out ones.
Currently, we do not intend to store gems in this way because it would make socketing items feel clunky.
Note that this is all still a work in progress and thus subject to lots and lots of iteration" - Grimiku
I think this IS a step forward. I like it. But ( you knew it, didn't you!) I know if all my legendary crafting materials were to convert to this it would free up maybe half a tab, and if they intend for all crafting materials to convert, meaning whites rares blues etc, maybe 6 more slots? Still not much more than half a tab.
Truthfully, as it is right now, and maybe I'm overreacting, but I'd like two more tabs, and I'd buy em! One mill gold, bam, done. okay, 5 mill.bam. Each even.
Heck they could make two more tabs 100mil and 500mil ..i'd buy em. They should look into allowing a secondary gear set, not one u could swap to while in combat..put something that would allow you to have multiple sets of gear. I'd like for them to look into doing dual talent specs too. (zomg WoW reference)
This is a big step forward, obviously, because those motherfucking legendary crafting materials alone take up almost half a damned tab worth, so that change would, basically, give most of us half a tab back.
But I agree that we need more stash space, period. I've argued that instead of 4 (or 5) shared tabs, we really just need 2-3 shared tabs and a further 2-3 character-specific tabs. My wizard, barb, crusader, monk, and DH don't need access to my Gidbinn, Thing of the Deep, or Manjuma's Gory Fetch. Adding some character-specific storage while maintaining account-wide storage would be a really good move IMO.
Josh seems to think that adding one tab was sufficient. I really want to know what game he's playing. It's not even close to it for me.
yeah, I have 12 characters, 2 of each, and by my math I want , lets see divide that by two, add one for everything else, 7 tabs. I want one for each class, and one for everything else.
I totaly agree. With all the different sets/builds why in the world would they keep the actual stash size. I'm quite sure they are thinking about this and will work somthing out. It would be a shame if they won't implement more stash size soon. So I guess we just have to wait.
Yep, I can only think there is a technical reason as to why they don't simply make the stash massive because other than that I can simply see no reason for the restrictions they have right now.
Stash space is the one thing in the game I would seriously be willing to fork out extra money as a micro transaction for (and I barely used the RMAH because I dislike the idea of in game transactions).
All crafting mats, including the legendary ones should go. More tabs is an almost absolute must have though I feel. I knew it would be hard to keep different gear sets for different builds, but as an altoholic, I've now moved any non-Crusader items to those classes so I've got three tabs purely for my Crusader (main) gear!
I'd like to see two bonus tabs for gold (even if 100mill total cost to unlock them). And then another full page of 6 tabs that you buy for a few bucks a piece. Either that or a second stash purely for that character. One account bound, one character bound. That'll do me.
Did you seriously just encourage Blizzard to add micro transactions to D3? Are you high?

This. The main reason for me to buy the CE was 3 extra twinks for stash space.
Crafting mats are not even the biggest issue; different items for different builds of different classes are. Items don't drop in a specific order, you might find one lightning, one arcane, one fire item, and this cycle continues. Why should I be forced to disenchant two thirds of my loot? What if I decide to pursue my arcane spec but from that point on arcane items never drop?
Yeah, I know that many many people are fine with the stash space right now and Blizzard has no plans on increasing it, but I really need more.
On top of all this, how the hell are ladders going to interact with stash space? If we have a ladder character with 3 full stash tabs, and a main character with 4 full stash tabs, what happens at end-of-season?
I'd love to see a couple more that can be purchased in game with goldand not to the point that only a few can afford. I'd also like to see ONE tab set up as a goal for an event, or an acieivement of some sort. LOL, there's an UBER event add -on!
Just want to voice my agreement. I play my wizard as my main and my stash is filled with different spec wizard items.....experimenting with builds is one of the fun points of the game. Unfortunately this leaves me almost no room for all my crusader items!
We *really* need more stash space.
