So I think I remember reading that they planned a second expansion for D3, do you ever feel like calming down a little on maxing out your character with the promise that all your juicy lvl 70 gear has guaranteed obsolescence in the future. My thing with these kinds of games has always been the joy or putting work into a character to reach god status. While I kind of agreed with the level cap raise and "restart" of items with ROS due to Vanilla being somewhat broken. Now that we all have the ability to actually farm gear effectively, (like I actually like my characters items, and still see potential). I almost wanna wait for the eventual raise to 80 before I really go balls to the wall. I've gotten my DH to a 1.2m DPS and I'm pretty happy with it, but I dont know if its worth it to eek out another 300k grinding for T5/6 efficiency with the promise of all that work being for naught.
You can talk yourself out of all games that involve loot and leveling with that thought.
I grind loot/gear/upgrades now because I want to be better now. Will all my current loot eventually be total meh when there are level 80 versions of all my gear that I need to regrind? You bet, and I'll grind that gear when it's time to grind it. But for right now, if I can get better, why not.
They need to knock that shit off. Really, how dumb have gamers gotten where this sort of thing is acceptable? (raising level cap for items and monsters)
As the OP said, many people want to view the great finds they make now, with plenty of due reverence 5 years from now. Making all items obsolete every 2 years is....it's fucking retarded.
We need new item types and new, interesting affixes that don't shit on everything else which preexisted. Do some of you people not realize what raising the level cap REALLY is? Do you know?
It's a number bump, that's it. The illusion of improvement. Fuck those old 1H weapons with 2.3k DPS. These new ones are "better". They have 3.4k DPS.....THE POWA!!!!! (nevermind the fact that the new monsters got a number bump too, making your new weapon scale up and feel no different).
That's not smart item progression through expansion modules. That's bumping numbers to create the illusion of improvement. Flat-out, end-game caliber RoS items we find now damn well should have use 5 years from now.
They had to raise the level/numbers for RoS, but only because they screwed the pooch on launch and our items were horribad. Many items now are impressive, and there's no further need to bump numbers up on a level scale. They need to use some innovation and imagination to create a vast aray of fun items, not just ....well the vid below explains my entire post.
i'm kind of lost here. If you don't want to worry about The level cap going to 80 don't buy the expansion and you won't have to worry about it right? get your character to where you want to be and then when you get bored being A Highlander, you go buy the expansion.

The fuck? People want new content. What people don't need is a level cap raise that wipes everything as obsolete. Nothing is accomplished here. You get a level raise, your items get a level raise and the monsters get a level raise. So what the hell was accomplished?
If it's really that hard for them to improve itemization without raising numbers, Blizzard should just stop. Just....stop it.
I play D3 like i did D2. Mind you leveling in D2 was never a "waste" of time because the gear didnt level up, only your character did... anyways, i play a hell of a lot for a few months then i stop play games or find another one to play at a slower pace, might speak for a lot of people here but i really like the grind type of games. Was a big fan of lineage 2 for some reason....

Yes, pretty much this exactly, and lol and the Spinal Tap video. I want new content but I dont want a mechanism that basically makes everything I own instantly obsolete, years of farming down the pooper. Those special items I got from Seasons, now pointless.
I'm with Ruksak here; I think one expansion with a level-cap raise was plenty, thank you. I can see the necessity of doing it once with RoS given how bad itemization was in vanilla and with the closing of the AH just before RoS's release, but I hope they never raise the level cap again.

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
I feel they don't really need to add a level raise, adding new content and new items and new end game activities would suffice as an expansion without having to grind tons of levels to try and reach end game again

I'd like to see lots of new items added, but have no level requirements higher than 70. If they really want to tier item progression in a new expansion, I personally think it would be neat to tie it to Paragon Levels (i.e. item X requires lvl70, plvl200), though I'm sure most will disagree with me there.

Any one else have thoughts or feelings on this?
