One thing I have been hoping to see is more of the items that have been around since d1. I was excited when I heard talk about items like windforce being included in D3. I was hoping that they would include a large amount of these items in the game. When I started playing I was disappointed that there was not as many as I had expected. Then when they announced the expansion I again hoped that they would add more. As far as I know ( I am not sure of everything that was added) they still haven't. I feel its important. They should try to incorporate more areas or elements from D1 and d2. I am aware they have some things. Characters etc but Im just not feeling the history in this game.
I wanna see more elements that make you think back to when you were playing d1 or d2. Have that nostalgia moment.
But most of all I want to see more of the classics.
They already have some items that have appeared in all 3 games (Windforce, Grandfather, Azurewrath, Stormshield, etc) but I feel there should be more. Items like Arkaine's Valor or Harlequin Crest. I know ( especially shako) some of these were vastly overused but I still feel these items should be added to continue the legacy. Have some of the original items in the game.
Oh and Imagine the bovine plate in d3, Walking around in a plated cow suit haha
What I am really saying is they have added a lot of these original items but I feel they left some of the important ones out. Anyone else with me here?
Yeah man, I'm with you. I really think there is room for some of those "overused" items you mention. Personally, I'd love to have a Tarnhelm in game again. I rocked the shit outta that thing!
The name of an item means jack and shit, and I'm pretty sure I saw jack a leavin' town. They could call these items a ham sandwich if they please, it's all the same shit with different graphic icons IMO.
RoS did not introduce new item types. That was it's failing.
I believe that the 18+ months of D3V's horrific itemization has rotted our minds. All anyone seems to be able to ask for is "Change X, Y or Z with Legendaries/sets...legs sets legs sets"...... fucking madness.
From an end-game gearing stance, 98% (totally arbitrary figure) of the items we pick up are merely crafting materials.
Blues = crafting materials
Rares = crafting materials
Whites = crafting materials (the quality of which doesn't matter, horrible oversight)
Most legendaries and many many set we'll find over the coming months = crafting materials.
Why? How could this be? They didn't offer us a single impactful new item type, but they did introduce 101 ways to do the same fucking thing we did in vanilla.....crafting.
My opinion is actually the opposite. I feel that many item names that have a certain legacy are devalued and have their legacy destroyed by their re-introduction to Diablo 3. For example, the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac. For those of you who don't know: this was the absolute best-in-slot ring in Diablo 1. In RoS, it's an insta-salvage. I don't like that :-(

Yes and no.
I consider this specific ring an easteregg because it has the exact same stats as in D1, only now they're useless. That's some kind of evolution.
I agree however that I don't like true legendaries of the series to be just another outdated weapon/armor. The first two items that come to my mind are Windforce and the Grandfather. They should have been BiS at least once during the time of D3.
Some of the current items are okay btw, just think of your two gold items, they weren't the be all end all stuff in D2 and they aren't now, but they do something similar for a similar niche.
It's kind of strange btw that a legendary from WoW trumps all Diablo franchise legendaries
edit: no idea why the quote doesn't show as such..
But one thing is for sure, The legendary items ( Then called Unique) werea lot cooler in appearance in Diablo 1. But I can see what you guys are saying about it ruining the legacy of the item.
