Pardon my title. It was the first thing that came into my head. Looking back it's probably not the best word usage to describe my intentions writing here.
The Spirit of Diablo is NOT trading! Sorry man, your Bots are gonna stay useless.
Careful. I made a bit of an accusation toward the OP in my first post in this thread. I made a sweeping generalization and I shouldn't have. Some people that play 100% legit...well they like trading. Hell, I'm a straight arrow in gaming and I too miss that aspect as well.
Some people like trading, they feel it is an intricate part of the ARPG experience. I've been guilty of the same, but this community really needs to temper this habit of slapping negative labels on our fellow players just for wanting something specific out of Diablo 3.
Role Playing. You're in a land of adventurers, you're not the only nephelam in Sanctuary.
Of course one would expect to encounter other adventurers in their travels. Adventurers whom aren't chaotic or hostile toward you, rather, you fight a like cause. These adventurers may also be willing to barter with you. Having this aspect missing pisses a lot of people off, people that would never bot or participate in 3rd party trades.
So we have a void here.
I love the grind, and I'm the last motherfucker you'll hear bitching about not finding enough set pieces only 2 weeks in. However, I admit that if I look down the road 16 months and vision myself STILL with only 3 of the four Inna's set pieces I desire greatly. ..... what recourse do I have? I would admittedly be quite frustrated.
And, frankly, I love how you give an RP argument for trading as I think that's highly-relevant.
Thank you. It is important, and I believe many players as well as game devs have lost touch with the Role Playing aspect of this genre. This is not an APG (action playing game).....the word "roll" in the term ARPG cannot be lost.
Of course part of playing a roll, is choice. The essence of these games spawned from a relic known as Pick Your Path To Adventure (actually I think they still produce these books ~ In case you're not a full-on nerd, google it.).
We're taking too much choice out of the ARPG, and frankly, I'm not 100% convinced that considerations toward 3rd party dealings should have this kind of enormous impact on the actual gameplay experience for the individual. I don't feel like I'm experiencing a dynamic roll playing adventure. I feel like my characters are on rails, no left turns allowed.
It cannot be said enough. Diablo 2 was a phenomenon, but not a phenomenon without causation. I truly believe that D2 was so utterly endearing to so many players specifically due to it's unprecedented freedoms extended to the player. Rife with abusive exploit, yes the games integrity failed.
But....undeniable was the allure. The Wild West of ARPG's (Diablo) has become quite Big City.
