with the AH gone, what do you need gold for? Other than repairs?
Really? I only have half of the new gem recipes and it costs 500,000 to remove a gem from a socket, forget about the ridiculous amount it costs to actually make the gems.
Not trolling, it was a question. I just don't see much value in gold anymore.
I came back for 2.0. I spent some on the blacksmith to see he's still rng garbage. I haven't messed with the enchanter yet, because I don't understand her.
I do combine all my gems and have mostly flawless royal gems in my gear, which are pricy. However, the prices of those gems are extremely cheap compared to the amount of gold you bring in by just playing the game. And creating those gems are a one time expense.
Making gems isnt really a one time expense if you plan on making the top tier which will take thousands of of marquise gems to make, along with the minimum of 200,000 gold on the lowest combine. I have used close to 100,000,000 gold on enchants and gems and the gold you get in game from drops/bounties/rifts comes nowhere near enough to make up for that.

So I still don't see where the gold sink is.
Cheap compared to the amount of gold you bring by just playing? Ye right.
A bounty gives anything from 30-100k gold, crafting one single Flawless Royal costs 9.8 million gold if you have 27 Imperial gems, it will cost a lot more if you do not have 27 Imperial gems.
Now, let's say every bounty you do gives you 100k gold and you do 1 bounty per minute that's 1.6 hours per Flawless Royal, but you won't do one bounty per minute and you won't get 100k per bounty, it's more like around 70k average gold per bounty and if you are fast it's around 2 minutes per bounty.
You can have 10 sockets, that's 98 million or 46 hours to craft.
If you have full flawless royal in your gear it is because you had a lot of gold over from before AH got removed.
Torment 6 Bounties in Act 4. You find the games with the Clear the Hell Rift bounty. You skip thorugh Hell Rift 1 and go straight to Hell Rift 2The mobs are easy, get as much damage as you can to tear them down and for each time you clear it which take 2-3 minutes per run will grant you 421k gold and like 6 mil exp.
Enchant has become a vital part of the game if you are a RoS addict who wants to max out your build, which essentially is what this game is about. You didn't factor in it cost around 1mil each time you want to unsocket the highest quality gems (this is not a one time cost), not to mention if you are a crafter most set items requires flawless royal. The price to roll on the stats you want from enchanter adds up really quick as well.
If you are not careful, you can throw away gold really fast in this game.
I like to do the following Quests in Adventure-Mode for Gold on the higest possible Torment-Level you can farm easily and fast:
- Core Act III: The "kill Azmodan" is probably the worst one, but if you can kill him fast, go for it anyways. With any other Quest, you'll make lots of Gold/XP fast because there are tons of Chests (even with the nerf to the Demonic Vessels), a high Chance for Gobbo's and a high Chance for a Red Chest (which are probably the most lucrative way of obtaining Gold/XP/Legendaries). There are also Multiple spawns for Shrines, yellow pools, Superuniques and basically everything you need to be happy.
- Hell Rift Act IV: There's always a quest there, because Act IV isn't as big as other Acts and all the Quests are easy and fast. Again there are multiple Chests and a very high Chance for a Red Chest to spawn. Unfortunately no Gobbo's. Again there's a high Chance for yellow Pools and Shrines. It's also a very easy spot with no Elite-Packs and very easy to kill Superuniques so you can farm it on a very high Torment-Level. You basically only need to have enough dps to kill the Enemies that spawn out of the Red Chest quick enough.
- Kill Zulle Act II: By far the easiest and fastest quest and you can take it everytime the quest appears.
This may sound silly, but if you're serious about making gold, one relatively good and easy way to do so is by picking up every single yellow (rare) item that drops and vendoring them. Each one is essentially a 4,000 - 5,000 gold pile and I come across more yellows than I do gold piles that large. In a few hours of regular play a day, I can make about 15+ million gold over a weekend without too much effort. It's a bit more time consuming than I'd like, as skipping all the drops and saving those trips to town makes for better/more efficient killing, but you won't get nearly as much gold.
When you're capped at 500 blood shards, spend them all on 5 cost armor pieces and vendor them all. I usually end up getting nearly half a million just by doing that alone.
I don't bother selling blues as they are about 1/3 the value. Whites are worthless beyond salvaging. Just have an empty inventory when you go adventuring and pick up every yellow you find. Everytime you make a trip to town, just vendor them. It's easy money.

Bringing torment and pain to others.
Your damned soul wallowing in your sin.
Perhaps...
it is time to die.
