This is how launches should be, but an expansion launch will always pretty much be smoother than a full title launch ofc
No issues no nothing, it helps having ros as the client for the past month at least to basically allow the clock/server clocks to say yup its time to unlock those features now off you go.
The thing that most people seem to overlook is that the reason that this game had such a smooth launch was because the amount of players who bought it aren't anywhere near to other blizzard releases. It was indeed a very good launch but a bit sad as well.
Can't help but think the same thing. Don't get me wrong, I was very happy and shocked to see what a smooth launch it was. But a part of me is saying RoS launch players is a fraction of D3 launch players.
But hey, whatever. Glad to see a smooth launch and happy I got to play a game at launch for once.
I was as cynical as they come expecting a terrible botched launch, based on some of the lag issues they had with 2.0 prior to the launch, but the actual launch went amazingly well. Good job Blizzard! The added content is just amazing too.
No major issues on US server too on the first few minutes, except when I logged in, i got some errors but I just clicked OK, and I first saw my main character on the character select switch. I selected my main character and viola! I'm on act V first quest.
Did anybody experienced regular "lag spike"/"frame drop" today (not during launch but after)?
I'm still not sure if it's my PC having a hard time managing a long gaming session..
No issues here, but I'm not really surprised. They usually don't have issues with expansions. Well, not sure about WoW, but everything else has been smooth. Base games are a different story, but since it's impossible to get 100% of the people who bought the base game to buy the expansion, the load on the servers at expansion launch will always be smaller.

Kind of fascinating to me that people are really surprised blizzard managed to release something without a colossal fuckup.. kind of tells you alot of the company and the views the customers has of them
I was shocked to not encounter any problems on release
It just tells me that Blizzard fans are pretty timeless. The number one thing that Blizzard game players have in common is that they play Blizzard games, but closely behind that is that they like talking negatively about Blizzard. I don't know when it started exactly, but I've seen that same behavior in every Blizzard game since WarCraft 2.

It's not just Blizzard though. Online games have been plagued with release issues and they only seemed to be increasing over time. Really good on Blizzard for not only having a passable release, but a stellar one by all accounts. You can try to leverage this into how shit Blizzard is and this is the exception that proves the rule, but I think this was good preparation and fine work and they should be commended for it so maybe some other companies in the industry will follow suit.

Pretty much this, just look at last week "big" release that what Titanfall. Upon launch (midnight) it was requiring a lot of patience and retries to log into game servers, for me it was just impossible to play (stopped trying after 5-10 minutes).

I haven't had any issues with gear so far, I've been finding some good upgrades...I just can't bring myself to equip them and lose my 17+ APOC.

I tip my hat to blizz this time round
