The 50% bonus XP just screams "we're putting in ladders" IMO. I don't think they'd be helping people go into RoS with pLvl 600+ without plans for some kind of opt-in reset.
Hopefully this time they don't make the mistake of ladder-exclusive items.

I would like to see ladder specific items/legendaries which after the ladder, some get introduced into the normal game.
it wouldn't be a new class, that would be beyond because that does need testing but a ladder system... Honestly I struggle to believe a dev would be foolish enough to so obviously tease one and not deliver. It doesn't have to be complex, just something that charts peoples paragon, gearscore etc. or maybe even perhaps a weekly "how much xp did u get this week" sort of chart, simple stuff that personally I don't care about they wont do anything like D2 with resets and stuff right now because the point of a reset was to reset the economy and that doesn't exist in d3.
On a side note, i've never really understood why people claim to want such things, as others have said all it boils down to is "who has the most free time" in any case. If it was more interesting like the 2 - 5hrs races that PoE has with some form of reward at the end then I would be way more into this and infact that would also make me strive to better my character to compete in such things but it wont be.
Ladder would be ok i guess, but ladder exclusive itens would ruin the game for me.
Same. I dont want to be forced into Ladder. Just like I dont want to be forced into hardcore. The incentive to play ladder is ladder itself - the fresh start/ race.
I highly doubt the tweet is referencing a Necro class. It's too short of a notice for a thing like that. There was no datamined info suggesting anything like that. No ptr/beta to test the class. It would be filled with bugs and inbalanced if introduced like that.

^ This.
I would be so pissed if they did ladders in D2 fashion. But from what i have heard from the developers in their playtests a few weeks back, I don't think they are dumb enough to let that happen. They know they would be upsetting a large portion of the player base if they put in Ladders D2 style. So if they are putting in a Ladder I bet it's something completely new. At least I am hoping so....
I was definitely on board with the "no ladder only items" at first, but honestly after sitting in a dark room with a half glass of Jack (read: fireball) and contemplating deeply, it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe because I played ladder on D2 and because of it I'm biased, but I'm ok with exclusive rewards for D3 ladder seasons. I just really want ladders

I've always said the same. No matter what 'mode' a player chooses, every player should have the same access to every item for the purpose of allowing a full spectrum of build possibilities. The dynamic created by [Ladder] only items is that you add to one mode but subtract from another purely through omission.
If any particular mode is appealing enough due to it's own inherent structure, than it should suffice on those merits alone, not needing of bonuses/perks/exclusivity of itemization etc.
Necromancer? Ladder system? My bet is the ladder system, there's no way in hell they'd reveal a Necromancer class this close to release.
If they bring back the necro somehow (no pun intended), I predict players will be blown away by a rock star-esque return.
Hopefully this time they don't make the mistake of ladder-exclusive items.
But i doubt it considering the WD is just to big of a reminder of that class.
So in that light... Probably Ladder Season
Wich is perfectly fine as long as there are extra bonusses to get when playing ladder. But we just have to wait and see.. Soon
