We all agree that some legendaries special affixes are at best subpar.
The question is, why?, didn't the developers/testers know the very basic game mechanics of the game to understand that certain affixes are just not useful?.
I mean, if I were designing legendaries, at least I will find a real competitive use for special affixes.
However, the other one I quoted, is garbage, come on. If you are in a fucked up situation, taking only half of the damage for... 5 seconds, wont save you.
Now, if you say, that the channeling time of your TP is reduced to 1 second, ok, that is then useful. I wouldn't probably use it but I can see that for HC players is actually a nice escape.
As a HC player, I can see it's use. The use would be few and far between, but it could save a HC character's life. If you used something like Serenity or Inner Sanctuary while you TP'd, yes, this could save your ass.
I found a pair of these the other night. Homing Pads, I believe. The problem with bonus affects like this, really passive ones; Too many better options for that slot which would certainly help prevent me from even getting into such tight spots to begin with where I need to emergency TP out. I really want to see Blizz get out of their little box and allow multiple legendary affixes on many Legendary items. Passive ones, like in the OP, combined with say......25% cooldown reduction. Now...NOW I'm thinking of using them. By itself, the ability to tp uninterrupted isn't as attractive as adding large amounts of DPS, healing and toughness by going with something more traditional.

These kind of things are what I don't get.
I'm not sure we do all agree with what you're saying. Yes some affixes don't let you smash x% more face, and some do. I don't feel like every legendary just needs to be uber killer gear, its a great time to me to find something that is just quirky and fun. You're damn right a Disintegrate mage will use Slorak's. And a good number of them will snicker each time they die and be thankful. Some won't, but know the best part? Theres five more legendaries those people will like.
I feel like blizzard definitely succeeded in making legendaries interesting again, and a big part of that is things like this. Does everyone have to love every item? Nope. Does every legendary have to contribute the same amount to efficiency in every situation? Yeah right. I'll take my haunt chest while I mess around with friends in lower difficulties. And you can take your face smashing. And we'll both be happy.

Brought over from WoW, the idea of people loving both big damage and *fun* cosmetics/affixes/etc. There is a loooooooooot of influential spillover
The oranges are bonuses, so who cares? They're all more or less fun, I'm glad Blizz put out as many diverse ones as they did on such a wide array of armor.

Watch DiabloFans's playtest video with Travis Day, starting at 18:20.
Death Watch Mantle is subpar, the legendary affix is 15-35% to proc a "fan of knives" for 200% weapon dmg on being hit.
Why is it bad? because it doesn't benefit from increase to fan of knives dmg, can't crit. You have to actually get hit, no dodge proc
Could be worse str and int classes can take advantage of that, but this item roll 3 fixed primaries armor / life per second / +% life. Leaving only 1 primary to roll.
this I consider bad
How are those shoulders bad for a WW Barb? 200% extra aoe damage proccing constantly, my friend uses a nicely rolled pair on his barb
This thread is about legendary special affixes that are... at least, sub-par compared with others without any doubt.
Not all legendary affixes are meant to be equally powerful. Some are meant to be "stepping stones" of progression into the more powerful ones. Some are even meant to just add "flavour" to the item. The devs have stated that again and again, that they're just fine with it.
In a group situation, farming in a higher Torment diff, it's not uncommon for the group to split up and slowly dwindle to some enemies. In particular things with Extra Health or Molten. A potion, a quick disable plus 50% reduced damage afterwards can be life saving.
Also, it's unlikely people will look at your thread or post seriously when you can't even use 10 seconds of your time to think about what you're going to say. If you can't figure out that particular affix is very useful for getting out of bad situations without losing your Pool bonus. Well, let's just say it's hard to take you seriously, specially with your post history.
I still think that the Slorak's Madness is pretty useless. "This wand finds your death humorous." Funny the first time, then after that it's no good.
Some legendaries uniqueness isn't the orange text. That wand is fantastic because it offers 20% + disintegrate damage. Same with pig sticker. Squeal is obviously useless, but the huge damage boost to beasts and humanoid is very helpful.
I don't think the point is if the item is good. We are discussing the legendary affixes. If they are usefull or not. Not the item itself. What makes an item unique. Not that it has good stats, But what makes that item unique. And that is the orange text. tell me when you find a rare or common weapon/gear that has an unique stat, and will agree that the orange text does not matter

You have to understand....
If every item isn't FUCKING AWESOME in EVERY SINGLE SITUATION then the devs are a bunch of noobs. That's just how it works because this community STILL is a bunch of pitchfork-wielding crazies.
And for the roll you can only have good 1 primary (well 2 if you consider the future mystic) so you search a str roll in a barb case but you'll miss on vit/ all res /splash / ressource or cd reduc.
I could give a second go on non dex class to check for an internal cd but I'm pretty sure there is one too
Boohoo it doesn't crit? It's still 200% aoe weapon damage for free, isn't that better than your no aoe damage Vile Wards? I'd rather having knives shooting out of my face 24/7 (the internal cd is really, really low by the way) than having 5% off my costs or cds....

I can think of a lot of builds that can use it, Most useful would be melee characters since they will get hit, I would pack in quite a bit of thorns and pump up quite a bit of life. I think the Barb and the Crusader would work best with this.I think also a melee based thorned zombie dog build might work as well. I have tried a thorned Zombie Dog build but it is hard to get it working. I might try again.
That proc is about 1 in 4 chance of being cast and if in a heavy monster density zone that will proc quite often.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Thanks for touching upon a Barbarian from your dexterity perspective, I know the class sounds easy on the forums, but you should try it before talking about it. Are you trying to constrain yourself to paper dps? Most Barbs (not counting everyone abusing 50% exp to have a 60 of every class) are still rocking their giant Skorns...fury management is fine, and cd reduc is useful I guess...but the amount of dps a well rolled pair can offer in some builds is just too good, and tons of fun (lightning/fire/ww).
You don't like them, okay, good for you. I'm just saying they can definitely be useful for some big aoe.
I got Cluckeye it's bow that has a chance to shoot chickens...i don't care about how "dumb" you think it is i find hilarious to just mess around sometimes. you can't be serious all the time >.> get some laughter ppl
