Sadly it has some drawbacks that *might* get sorted in the future patches *hopefully*, namely:
Smart drop a bit too strong.
I think it balances itself out in the long run, it throws out main stat plus vitality most of the time, which means we're gonna want to reroll the vitality on most items or end up with more than it than we really need. So I don't think fine tuning items is really going to be as simple as many think it will be.
This is only gonna be more apparent seen as you can get exactly how much Vitality you want from Paragon and most of the legendary items having a fixed stat affix on them.
Smart drop is nice, until you want to gear some alts!
I just ran a first Skeleton King on one of my 60s (with the bug, the fist kill is guaranteed leg). I went with my Wizard in Torment 1. The Leg is a sword, 2hand i believe, something to be excited about for my Barbarian who also need some new gear, it rolled 300+ intel. Well, this is going to the salvage bin...

Even if it has 300 int, it may have other valuable stats you can use in the meantime, even more so if it's just an alt you're going to try and gear up.
I'm all about loot 2.0 but I cannot shake the feeling that farming was easier (yielded more leggys per run) pre-patch.
That's because they nerfed magic find in 2.0. You only get 10% of your total MF applied to finding legendaries now, and they removed the MF bonus you get with each paragon level.
I suppose it only makes a big difference if you were farming at a high paragon level pre-patch or relied heavily on MF for legendaries. That being said, I think they did a good job balancing it with a slightly higher drop rate across the board.
I think Blizzard basically eliminated MF to smooth out the legendary drop rate. With high MF in 1.0, you could get legendaries faster than you could now in 2.0. However with low MF in 1.0, the legendary drop rate was awful, particularly for new players and those characters first leveling up.
A reasonable argument could me made that the drop rate is too high now. But I think what Blizzard wants is a fairly consistent experience across all players. Newer players see legendaries often enough to be excited by them. Veteran players however don't see them so often that they feel they can pop them on command. Legendary droughts are bad and better slightly too many than too few.

100% agree.
Finding orange/green lightshafts is fun. It's better to err slightly on the side of fun than to err on the side of droughts and less fun in the name of "longevity."
Minus the trifecta/dps obsessed people were with the old loot system. I agree that the legendary drop rate was horrible. I remember vividly that I had something like 300-400 hours on my main and I'd yet to find a single legendary. This is what confuses me on why people still like the old system.
It's so much better now knowing you don't have to spend 100 hours to never find a legendary. This was somewhat fixed in the density mob patch. But i would never want to go back to that system .
Even though I enjoy the new loot system much better because of this reason. I'm pondering why I'm not grinding my butt off like I use to. Maybe it's just 2 years older lol
You were doing something wrong.
On my Witch Doctor or Barb I'd find an average of 1-2 legendaries a run in MP7-10.

I found more legs pre-patch also, but I couldn't use 99% of them and they were either salvaged or put on the AH. Now, I have to regularly debate if each leg that drops gets equipped or I change my build to accommodate it. This is a much, much more interesting experience for me in-game than getting 10 legs in a couple days and trashing them all.
I miss a couple things from Loot 1.0, and I think 2.0 did take a couple steps back. But in general it's an overall improved experience.
Also, I wouldn't put things like increased Legendary Drop rate in the Loot 2.0 category (and Smart Drops as well). That's more a consequence of removing the AH and BoA than anything. It's not really related to how items roll.
For me, my main complaint is that it is hard to determine what can be an upgrade for you. Some people like this approach, as it makes you think and perhaps feel more involved with your gear choices and skills/spell use. But, the trifecta hunt made it easier to recognize an upgrade when you see one.
Also, on a side note.
Everyone is saying it's hard to find upgrades. Is it really? I found an ice SoJ with 30% elite dmg increase, Depth Diggers (upgrade over innas with 70AR), the new Tal Rasha Helm - came with socket (upgrade over my legacy SC with crit), not to mention one of the cool ammies I forget the name over. And I always played MP 10 with all my characters

At least, that's my take on things
