I just came back to D3 and was wondering if there was any point in farming right now other than leveling up Paragon?
Correct me if I'm wrong but RoS will indeed have new legendaries and a whole set specifically when you hit 70 and play Torment 1 at least?
And even without legends, the stat range from rares will probably be higher than those we have right now simply because of getting to level 70 (if someone could confirm this, would be appreciated), so unless you have uber gear right now you will inevitably replace all/most of your gear a few hours after being 70?
I just reached a point where it seems I'll have to farm a lot to get upgrades that'll likely be replaced quickly, so I was wondering if it was really worth my time to farm right now?
Yeah, essentially every single piece of gear may be replaced come RoS. If you're looking at that, it's not worth it to play besides for paragon.
But I'm still playing like a maniac and more than ever before per day, because it's just so much fun. I also gained A LOT of paragon levels, more than I ever thought I would (and no, I didn't do a single of these Mira runs). I got a lot of interesting upgrades, and while I know that the stat range on all of them will not compete with level 70 legendaries, some of them will be on par with level 70 rares and due to the legendary affixes they might make my transition to RoS much easier (e.g., my shoulders just make me never pay repair cost again, so that's a big plus). And I get used to the new playstyle already (for wizards it's just so much new stuff to discover), so that I'll not be so overwhelmed with RoS and "only" need to pay attention to my new gear, and if a nice item drops I might already have a working build in the back of my head.
Oh yeah and of course, did I say that it's just so much fun to play right now?
Oh, well I'm having wayy more fun now that I ever had in D3. But the thing is that my available playtime is not where I'd like it to be and Titanfall will have me away from D3 easily from its launch to RoS launch so now I won't feel bad at all to not play D3 until RoS
It's just sad that it took 2 years to get to this point. I thought they'd learned things from D2 and got things right from the start. Anyway, can't be negative right now, the game is amazing at this state.
I've been selling a lot of my drops on the AH, already made like 500m from plans and someone has bid 700m on an EF with dex/socket
Oh and about gold, right now it could be useful to buy gems or plans or whatever, but come RoS/Auction house closure what will it be used for? I mean will there be a point in having more than 2-3 million in your stack?
I guess we don't have a lot of info about Mystic services prices and such?
Enchanting was quite expensive in the beginning, but just before the PTR went down I tried to blow all my money... and it seems that in the latest beta build they drastically reduced enchanting costs. Unless you keep hitting the enchant button for the same item a million times, I don't think you need tons of gold. Enchanting every item 5-10 times will easily by covered by bounty rewards imho, the limit will rather be materials (that are all BoA).
I've been selling stuff on the AH too (and yes, I know it is going away soon). I've made a ton of gold and don't plan on using it until RoS is out. I don't want to be limited in what I can do or how fast I can repair/upgrade vendors because I entered the expac with only 300 mil gold.
But I play so much now on hardcore! It's quite an amazing game at the moment actually, even without all-acts-travelling! I am quite excited for RoS.
I tell you now, that at least half of your gear will already be replaced at level 61 - If you go to your level 10 blacksmith, then go on the 'Train' tab, hover over the names of the items, they will require level 61 and have insane stats compared to level 60 items!
Kinda humorous these threads. The skills have all changed, gears changed, and just how u build your character and play has changed. If anything, it won't be a bad idea to play around with skills and builds to see how everything is working together. Getting use to the new elite affixes, there are plenty of reasons to play. Instead of grinding g levels or trying to find an epic drop.

Only 300 mil gold ?! I think in all my playtime I never exeeded 10 mil lol .... never had great gear either/didn't play that much.
I like damage424's answer - you can build your experience with different builds that were ineffectual in the past but may be good now.
If you have poorly-geared characters, you should be able to up-gear them rapidly, which will make life more comfortable for levelling from 60-70 once the expansion drops.
But yeah.. paragon XP and mad fun are the two main currencies to farm for.
I've been boosting my paragon level to a respectable level. I always felt shame when I was a low level playing with some very high level people. It's like when you're grinding on Torment 3 and some level 10 barb joins with terrible gear, everyone just sighs and you have to carry them. Also, it's definitely more fun now.
In the first few days of 2.0 I was having a lot of fun toying around with new builds and stuff on my wizard, but I've not been enjoying the game all that much in the last couple of days.
Having mostly pre-2.0 gear with lots of attack speed/chd/crit it is very hard to find a decent upgrade for the build that I want. I've been scanning rares I've found for the stats I want in my build (Lightning wizard) but so far I've got nothing. Every legendary I found so far isn't a build changer at all for wizards.
I can't wait for the actual release of RoS so I can move on my from glass cannon gear to a more balanced setup. Having to lose damage just to get toughness in this new patch feels counterintuitive to me.
I've tried my other classes (I have everything at 60) but I can't get used to the fact that mobs take way longer to die because my other classes are sporting the new 2.0 gear. Having to get a specific legendary just to enjoy the game for the coming 3 weeks isn't all that appealing to me anymore. Maybe I should just quit until launch day.
I dunno what to do really.
