Anyone got a reliable (hopefully backed by data) comparison of how the old MP system matches the new difficulty system? Seems like Torment I is around MP4 to me, and I was expecting it to be a bit lower. Does this also mean that Torment VI is much harder than MP10 was?

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
For me T1 is not that hard at all about what I was doing on live MP (some combo afixes hurt way more now though) however I only ever was able to play MP2 at any decent pace so T1 for ME is about there.
However that being said I don't think that there is any way you can really compare them. Builds and skills have changed, monster damage and health ratios are now different. Some builds outright dont work anymore (WW and CM most obviously) its just a completely new experience.
Do what I did and just push yourself to the next difficulty level you can complete without dieing to often and your good.
I asked almost the same question last week. From playing the last couple of nights, I think T3 maybe T4 is close, but it is not the same, some things are easier and others not. Also, I still use WW.
So is there anyone out there who is playing at Torment VI? Can we confirm that it is more difficult than MP10 was? Looks like I'll be on Torment I for a while, as I like to play solo a lot and that's about all I can handle. I'll check out Torment II in a multiplayer game today; under the MP system I could handle MP4 solo easily, MP5 solo was a challenge, and MP6 I had to do multiplayer.

Ah, thanks Bagstone! I searched for a thread like that before making this one but couldn't find it.

In the old system I was playing MP8. Sometimes MP6-7 if I was being lazy that day but MP8 was my sweet spot.
Started up the game after patch, switched it to Torment. It defaulted to Torment 4 for some reason and I didn't know about it. Went in and mobs took forever to kill. Looked to me more like MP10.
Pushed it back down to Torment 2 and felt a little better as to my normal kill time. I would say Torment 2 is right around MP7.
That's my feeling too. With my DH i cold do mp7-8 and Torment 3 is a bit too much for me, both hp and damage from monsters are high for my gear, so i just play on Torment 2 alone and 3 when i group up.
My main character used to "farm" MP 6 and 7 with zero fear of dying to all but the most ridiculous packs. He is WAY more defense than offense. After testing the Torment levels I can feel the difference. they are much more threatening it seems....on a monster to monster comparison. I can muck around in Torment 4 and not get the shit kicked out of me but it takes a fair while to kick the shit out of anything note-worthy.
the most important thing to take away from the comparison is how all the small changes;
All add up to a WILDLY different feeling game. It's really really hard to draw any strong connection between MP and Torment, and the weaker the connection the better the game it seems LOL
I'm gonna have to agree with people here and say that there's no direct comparison here. Mostly because of much lower monster density and new elite affixes. So my 350k DPS DH was able to farm MP10 pretty well and I tried Torment IV, the regular monsters felt like MP8 to me despite larger HP pools. And it isn't just the lower pack sizes, it is also theit damage output. I was able to tank the packs without using Shadow Power half the time.
Now the elite packs are a totally different story. Especially if you go all the way and try Torment VI. I was able to beat some packs that didn't have too many elemental affixes, but any combination of Jailer, Arcane Enchanted, Vortex, Frozen, Waller and especially Thunderstorm were almost impossible to beat without dying 8-12 times. I actually had to start using Smoke Screen to be able to beat a Thunderstorm elite pack.
So with all that in mind (regular monsters are easier and elites are harder than before 2.0 patch) these are mine thoughs on the new difficulties:
Expert felt like MP0; Torment 1 is a lot like MP2; Torment 2 is like MP4-5; Torment 3 is like MP6-7, some elites were MP9 level difficult; Torment 4 is like MP8 some elites feel like MP10 or even 11 (if there was MP11); Torment 6 is like MP10 but most of the elites are waaaay stronger, so lets say MP12. I didn't try Torment V.
