I thought i'd post this thread to change tact a bit from the usual "i hate Blizz" and "i hate Diablo 3 because it's not as good as D2 LOD" threads.
I'm curious about who here actually enjoys the game and why? Please post constructively and let all of us know why YOU enjoy playing the game, maybe this thread dies or it grows and it might be a refreshing change from all the flaming going on constantly.
Tell us what are the fun things in the game that keep you playing, is it that legendary grind? Is it attempting to perfect that perfect class build? Are you farming something specific? Do you like the art-work? Etc etc...
Me? I enjoy so far all aspects of the game, and admittedly i haven't played long at all, but i plan to invest some serious time into Diablo 3 and the upcoming xpac, which i will purchase.
I'm having a blast with my Barb at the moment, steam-rolling everything in it's path, hunting down the treasure goblins, in the hope that the little sucker drops that legendary...enjoying the art-work, the random maps, smiting elites, and ots more.
Haters, please don't post here, if you want to flame or dislike Diablo 3, do it elsewhere.
I just thought it might be interesting to see what others who actually enjoy the game thought.
Beta-testers of ROS more than welcome to post here, if you are enjoying any aspects of the beta so far.
With RoS so close, I've taken a break from D3. But I have genuinely enjoyed my time in the game and I'm looking forward to the expansion. Crusader looks so awesome, I'll probably switch to that from my barb as my main.
There are lots of things I'd like to see added/improved, but that will always be the case. I'll go back to D1/D2 occasionally just for fun, but D3 is overall a much better game.
I'm taking a break as well, but a rather forced one because of work (and to be honest, if I have some time right now I much rather play Terraria). Might come back if the beta receives a new patch though.
What I'm most looking forward to about RoS is the build diversity. It has always annoyed me that in D3V you'd just choose between one of two or three possible builds, grab all the gear from your AH, and would kill monsters without any goal (there were no bounties, and 99.999% of the time no upgrades). This is gonna be soooooooooo different in RoS - many Torment legendaries have the potential to create a new build. And even without any legendaries I've played several wizard builds in the beta that were a lot of fun. And this is despite the fact that many builds don't work because shielding and paragon CDR are bugged - it's just gonna get better. And of top of that, we get bounties, we get rifts, we get a new uber event, we get reforging, we get gambling... yeah, that's why I'm totally pissed when people say "there's no endgame in RoS". I think the endgame has the potential to be absolutely freaking fantastic, and there's even more to come as they already foreshadowed ladder and potential other events with the loot runs that didn't make it into RoS, but are probably in some developer's drawer. They have two months left to fix bugs and get the balancing right, and if they do, this game will be better than D1, D2, and D3V combined.
Hehe I'm actually doing the opposite to you two :P, I've just come BACK from a long break, grinding some Paragon on my barb before RoS comes out.
Initially I started playing because:
a) I LOVED D2, still play it some times and
I had lots of friends, who also loved D2, who wanted to play together.
Is D3 the perfect game? Fuck no, not even close, but it IS still a good game! What I think alot of people are forgetting (because most of the people complaining weren't even born at the time :p) Is that D2 vanilla was a pretty average game as well, it was only with the additions that came with LoD that it became the legendary juggernaut it remains to this day. I honestly believe that with a few tweaks (most of which are coming in RoS, the ones that aren't are all on the chalkboard to be added later on in patches) that RoS could equal if not exceed the level of LoD.
Personally I'm gunna have fun doing some light farming for Paragon in D3V and waiting for RoS to come out, safe in the knowledge that me and my friends will EASILY get our money's worth out of what's looking to be an awesome game. If later on they add Ladders, Devil's Hand and some more Uber Events? fan-fucking-tastic, if they don't? *shrug* we still have Rifts and Bounties to mess around on, plus a new Hellfire Ring to craft, which is FAR more than we have now.
plus Crusaders looks AWESOME.
I've taken a break after testing out the PTR. I enjoyed it, so I am kind of just waiting for that to drop.Seems like I play for two or three months like crazy and then take a month or two off from the game. Once 2.0.1 drops Ill be back at it for sure. I cant wait to make a frost wizard!
I haven't tested PTR or beta, but I recently came back from a long break. Currently, I am grinding paragon experience by prepping crypt and inviting friend to the game.
What I really love Diablo 3 is the feeling of the combat. I enjoy the monk and I am playing the Nirvana build currently, and also played the CS build for a long time. I enjoy being more of a team member of the group, and CS build is alot of fun being the center of the combat and having everyone smash away at the zombies. I'm missing the barb, and want to roll another barb to do ww/rend after my monk. I guess I really love the animations, the feeling of combat, and just hordes of zombies to slay away at. The mob density patch really made it fun in this way for me. But before the mob density patch, doing ubers and trying to get a nice ring for your main was fun for a time, before that it was the feeling of getting 'that' item. Of course now it's not about getting the item and doing ubers is long over, but I still love the combat and animations. I hope RoS can take it to the next level
