Trading did not bring people together in Diablo 3. The auction house was an anonymous bulletin board. People used the auction house to get what they wanted. People traded in d2 because you never know what deals could be waiting in the next game. Hell yeah trading is fun and its a staple in Diablo. If I cannot share my loot with my friends then they should make a single player mode. Sorry bro I disagree and so do a lot of folks.
The majority of D2 players never traded, and D1 had only rudimentary multiplayer support that barely anyone ever used (if multiplayer, people were mostly playing in local networks).
As for D3, you're right that the AH was a mistake, but when you talk about trading with your friends there's good news: you can actually do this in RoS. At least to some extent. I think they should change the restrictions from 2 hours to 2 days and from "people in the same game" to "people in your clan" or something like that.
Btw, no one seems to understand (or having read) miles_dryden's posts. Go back and read them again. Most important point: if you think you can't progress without trading because of bad itemization, than let's fix itemization. Open trading does not fix bad itemization, didn't we learn this lesson in D3V already?

Yes, exactly. I honestly don't care if they bring trade back or not. But even if they did, that wouldn't fix the problem unless they went all-out with it and gave us a proper trading system to replace the AH. And let's face it, that is not happening before RoS. I would rather see them fix the current system and make drops and crafting worthwhile so that you don't feel like you need to trade. THEN we can talk about whether trade would be worth adding back in.
RMAH or AH didn't kill it. They build the game around AH. You are force to use it to progress because the game is item iLVL base. And the randomization is any mod can role on any item just plain stupid.
The whole game for all char is stack dmg, crit, crit dmg, ias, some health and resist. this is for all charactors.
